Social media usage has grown significantly in recent years. According to a 2009 survey, 59% of online users actively participate in social media, presenting marketers an opportunity to reach engaged consumers. The survey found that audiences of all ages are now involved in social media, with 13-17 year olds, 18-34 year olds, and 35-44 year olds showing the highest rates of participation.
