The document discusses a new smartphone/tablet app called Air Tivi+ that can control the Tiviar digital TV receiver. The app allows users to view live TV streams, change channels, access the program guide and set recordings on their iOS device. It also features a virtual remote control. While testing the app, the author was impressed by the lack of lag between operations and viewing HD content quickly after selecting a channel. However, HD streams can cause buffering if the WiFi signal is weak. The app provides a good enhancement to the Tiviar receiver once some remaining bugs are fixed.

The document describes how to set up a basic home IPTV system using inexpensive hardware. A Raspberry Pi small computer is used as the IPTV receiver and connected to a TV. A PC with a digital TV tuner card and TSReader Pro software is used as the IPTV server to receive and stream channels over the home network. The TSReader Pro software demuxes the TV channels and streams each one to a different port. An M3U playlist file lists the IP addresses and ports so that the Raspberry Pi running XBMC media software can access and display the streamed channels as an IPTV service.
The document discusses proposed extensions to the DVB-S2 satellite communication standard to improve data transmission efficiency. Some key extensions mentioned include reducing transponder roll-off factors and side lobes to allow transponders to be placed closer together, using wider bandwidth transponders, adding a new 64 APSK modulation, and additional modulation and coding schemes. These extensions could provide up to a 20% increase in data rates for direct-to-home broadcasts and potentially a 64% increase for professional services. The improvements will help enable higher data transmission rates to support services like ultra-high definition TV and high-speed IP.

Ultra high definition television (UHDTV) provides a significant increase in resolution compared to traditional HDTV. UHDTV comes in two formats - 4K with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, and 8K with a resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels. This results in 4 times or 16 times as many pixels as HDTV respectively. UHDTV also offers wider color gamuts, higher frame rates up to 120 frames per second for smoother 3D playback, and more advanced audio capabilities. However, UHDTV requires much greater bandwidth for transmission and new equipment that is compatible with the new standard. While the technology is still developing, UHDTV is expected to become more widely available
1. DXer REPORT HDTV Satellite Reception in Beijing

Applesat.

Applesat,
Applesat,
Applesat
Luxe.TV от ASIASAT 2, Fashion TV, Voom,
National Geographic, History Channel, AXN и
Skylife
