This tutorial will walk you through the steps of creating a simple database-driven AJAX application using Direct Web Remoting (DWR) 2.0, Hibernate 3.0 and a new open source project from Nexaweb Technologies, dojo.E. dojo.E is an extensible markup processing engine that out-of-the-box will translate XML into dojo components.

Our apps are ever more alive. They interact with the rest of the world talking to backends and receiving notifications from them. They get their input from us and from other sensors. They are even aware of the location of the device they run in, or its position. But, in our IoT world, they may also detect presence in a room, get the temperature of it, or change the color of its lights.
Sadly enough, many of the apps available today with those capabilities have some architectural limitations:
Many of them are written in a way that is really dependent on a specific hardware.
Some restrict their use cases to whatever is provided by the hardware devices.
And almost all of them expect having a connection with the real device as the only way to test if they work properly.
However, we can also use an advanced architecture, like the Clean Architecture, to create a beautiful, scalable, testable, and robust application. Join Jorge and he will share with you how you can do it!

React JS and why it's awesome

Micronaut is very well suited for publishing REST APIs and is a terrific fit for implementing backend logic for SPAs.

Migrating from Struts 1 to Struts 2
Struts has outgrown its reputation as a simple web framework and has become more of a brand. Because of this, two next generation frameworks are being developed within the project: Shale and Action 2.0. Action 2.0 is based on WebWork, and though its backing beans are similar to JSF, its architecture is much simpler, and easier to use.
Migrating to Struts Action 2.0 is more about unlearning Struts than it is about learning the "WebWork Way". Once you understand how simple WebWork is, you'll find that Struts Action 2.0 is a powerful framework that supports action-based navigation, page-based navigation, AOP/Interceptors, components and rich Ajax support.

- ActiveWeb is a Java web framework that aims to make web programming fun and productive again through its simplicity, support for TDD, and immediate feedback.
- It provides convention over configuration routing and views, dependency injection with Guice, and integrates well with testing frameworks like allowing parameters to be passed to controllers and inspecting HTML responses.
- ActiveWeb has no XML configuration and aims to have as few dependencies as possible while still providing a full-stack framework for building RESTful web services and traditional MVC applications.
Spine.js

Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
