A Russian Martyr, Ivan Vasilyevich Moiseyev
Dying at only twenty years old doesn t leave much space for someone to do something
remarkable, but for Ivan Moiseyev, it did. Moiseyev was born in 1952, and raised in a Christian
home by his two parents, Vasily Timofeyevich and Ionna Konstantinova, along with his six
brothers and sister. In 1968 Ivan finished school at a young age of sixteen and went on to join
the Evangelical Christian Baptist Church (Neerskov, H.K.). In 1970, after about a year and a
half of joining the church, Moiseyev gave his life to the Lord, and obtained a newfound love to
preach the Gospel not only in church, but to the young people of Volontirovka, his hometown.
For quite some time, Ivan Moiseyev had the job of a delivery driver. That is, until November
1970, when Moiseyev got drafted into the Soviet Army for two years of training and service
(Neerskov, H.K.). Since he became such a strong Christian, Moiseyev was always trying to find
a time and place to pray. Eventually, Moiseyev found a room that stayed empty till ten A.M.
Every day, Ivan woke up at five A.M. and went to that room to pray until nine A.M. (A Russian
Martyr, Ivan Vasilyevich Moiseyev). On one particular morning, Ivan was running late and had to
hurry to the morning call; everyone had been waiting for him, and looking everywhere for him in
addition. Ivan had to explain his reason for missing to the commanding officer, who already knew
Moiseyev s position as a believer, and informed Ivan that he would have a punishment (A Russian

Case 1a- Trader Joes Essay
1.How does Trader Joe s design jobs for increased job satisfaction and higher performance?
Trader Joe s has designed jobs to increase job satisfaction by showing appreciation in providing
more benefits to their employees than other chain grocers. They provide starting benefits including
medical, dental, and vision insurance, company paid retirement, paid vacation, and a 10%
employee discount, Pg. w 100. Traders Joes also recruits people with certain personality traits that
the company wants in their stores. They are able to enrich their employees with knowledge of their
products that they are selling, as well as inducing customer involvements. As a result, they are able

By doing so, Trader Joe s adds value to their employees. Secondly, Trader Joe s hires managers
only within the company, partly because they know the system inside and out. Their knowledge of
how their system works is the human capital, because an outside manager would not have the
experience and in depth knowledge as would the person who was hire within the company.
4.Explain the value chain as it pertains to Trader Joe s.
Trader Joe s value chain consist of it buyers that travel all over the world in search of great tasting
food and beverages to buying directly from the producer whenever possible. The company itself is
part of the internal value chain where they purchase their wholesome products to their staffing in
employees. Customers add value to their chain because they trust Trader Joe s to offer the most
nutritious, sustainable, and organic food, pg. w 100.
5.Research Question: What do the blogs and current news reports say? Is Trader Joe s management
benchmark for others to follow? In what areas relevant to Organizational Behavior does the firm
have an edge on the competition?

Essay about The Crying of Lot 49
Technology has long been recognized as a mixed blessing. Its up/downside nature was illustrated
nicely in Walt Disney s Fantasia by the myth of the Sorcerer s Apprentice:not only does the magic
of the machine produce what you desire, it often gives you much more than you can use as Oedipa
Maas, the heroine of this stark American fable, discovers on her frenetic Californian Odyssey.
Information which strains to reveal Everything might well succeed only in conveying nothing,
becoming practically indistinguishable from noise. But there is noise, and Noise. Many of the
devices Pynchon uses to establish informational patterns in Lot 49 are metaphors for life in a
mythic, fractionalized and increasingly noisy modern America.

That the world has things to tell her is not an entirely new idea to Oedipa. At the inception of her
role as executrix, she sits in her convertible gazing down upon a typical Southern California suburb
and is instantly reminded of the insides of a transistor radio:
... there was to both outward patternings a hieroglyphic sense of concealed meaning, of an intent to
communicate. There d seemed no limit to what the printed circuit could have told her (if she had
tried to find out) ...[2]
However, hieroglyphs can be merely decorative intriguing manifestations of absolutely nothing;
and therefore random signals broadcast to the medium at large; a medium of which Oedipa just
happens to be a part.Oedipa s dilemma quickly becomes a parallel to the theorized task of Maxwell
s Demon:Where the Demon is fabled to sort hot from cold molecules and thus produce Work,
Oedipa must sort useful from useless information and thus produce Meaning.Through it all, the
underlying question with which Oedipa flirts but never confronts: Isn t it all, perhaps, just noise?
Pynchon establishes certain objects and images as avatars of noise, the first being the television (

Comparing Star Trek Into Darkness And The Vulcan Culture
The movie Star Trek into Darkness is a futuristic Sci fi fantasy movie about the people of the Star
Trek Enterprise. The Star Trek Enterprise is very similar to NASA in the sense of they want to
explore space. This Star Trek movie focuses on Captain Kirk and Commander Spock. The contrast
to these two characters is that one is a human and one is half human and half vulcan. Emotional
expression is not common in the Vulcan culture meaning it s not as normal to show much emotion
in their culture. Vulcan do have emotions but they are very controlled so they are almost
portrayed as robotic people. Though Spock is half human he usually takes after the Vulcan side
meaning he is more on the left hemisphere of thinking. This means he is more logical in his
thinking and less on the creative right hemisphere. This becomes a increasing problem throughout
the series. In the beginning of the movie Spock in sent to stop a volcano for erupting and killing a
undeveloped civilization. Things go wrong and he ends up being stuck in the Volcano. He accepts...

When Spock ends up back on the ship she asks Kirk if he is safely on the ship. Her eyebrows
when she did this were pushed together and her eye were wide indicating that she was

indicated that she was anxious. Upon hearing about him being okay her face relaxes but then
her she immediately becomes angry. This is called a micro expression because she experiences
that relief so briefly before that emotion changes. You can tell she gets angry by the way she
throws her ear piece of so quickly and the way she sits in her chair. She also puts her bottom lip
in her mouth which my mom does when she is angry. There is a brief altercation between them

Principles Of Defending In Soccer
The main principles of defending in soccer consist of a pressure player, a cover player and the
other defenders exist a balance players. These principles create a numbers up situation against the
offensive player handling the ball. This allows defenders to take advantage of an individual player
and simultaneously maintain an offsides trap for the other offensive players.
The pressure defender s role is to put pressure on the player with the ball. The defender begins by
attempting to stop possession through the denial of the ball, if possession is gained then the
defender must be goal side of the attacker and delay them from turning towards the goal. If the
attacker has managed to turn towards the goal then the defender must keep the attacker from being
able to run at goal, and, at all times, tries to ensure that the attacker does not get a shooting
opportunity. By staying an adequate distance from the attacker, where you aren t so close that the
attacker is able to dribble past, but close enough to where the attacker s attention must be solely on
the ball. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the attacker with the ball dribbles by the pressure player, the cover defender must be far
enough away to block the likely passing lanes leading to the goal. Cover defenders need to be
close enough behind the pressure defender to stop a dribbling run by the attacker with the ball so
position is an essential aspect. In the possibility that attacker beats the pressure defender, the
cover player becomes the pressure player. However, initially the cover player must maintain
enough distance and width to prevent possible passes from going to the closest other attackers on
a run to the goal. The cover player only focuses on the player with the ball, leaving the balance
players to deal with the other

Logistics Of Container Liner Shipping
1.Introduction
Container liner shipping has become one of the most important transportation modes in
international trade. It is growingly penetrated into the share of many conventional shipping modes.
Containerized cargo has been the most dynamic cargo group. About 60% of the value of goods
transported by sea is containerized cargo (Stopford 2009). In 2011, container shipping carried some
1.477 million tons of 8,879 million tons of seaborne trade (Unctad 2011). In terms of TEU, world
container traffic grew from 13.5 m TEUs in 1980 to 152.1 m TEUs in 2011, on average 8.29 % per
year (ISL 2011).

main topic of container shipping network: container routing. Container routing is related to optimal
flow movement of laden and empty boxes. In section 2, the current status and trend in container
liner shipping as well as the characteristics of container network will be discussed. In section 3, the

According to published information of Containerization International Yearbooks (1991, 2001,
2012), approximately 400 liner carriers have left the industry in the last two decades. Several
well known brand names in the 1990s have no longer existed. Nowadays, the top three carriers,
Maersk Line, MSC and CMA CGM make up nearly 32 % of the ship fleet capacity with the
respective capacity of 2.2 m TEUs, 1.98 m TEUs and 1.33 m TEUs. In 2010, their operating
profit was estimated to be in the range between $7b and $7.5b and higher than that of other 14
publicly traded lines in the top 20, including APL, COSCO, CSAV, CSCL,

In almost every industry, employers are trying to do more with less. Educational facilities
throughout the United States are working hard to deal with budget cuts and growing demands on
limited resources. Additionally, trade schools, college campuses and Universities across the nation
are witnessing that student enrollments are at an all time high. Simply put, more is expected to be
done with less. Hard working educators are working to meet the expanding demands in their
classrooms and laboratories. Davis Applied Technology College in Kaysville, Utah is certainly no

As student needs spike, they are asked to do more with less. In addition, they are coping with
personal pressures: rising costs in college tuition and healthcare; shrinking values in assets like
homes and retirement funds; and increased responsibility for jobless family members. Fifty four
percent of workers plan to look for another job when the economy improves, according to a
survey released in June by the Adecco Group, a company that helps businesses find temporary
and permanent workers (Watson, 2009). Seventy one percent of 18 to 29 year olds say they are
likely to look for new jobs once the economy turns around, according to the same survey.
Expecting workers who are under stress to radiate enthusiasm and continually express gratitude
for their jobs in unrealistic. Relying upon the recession and fear of job loss to maintain worker
productivity is an ineffective short term strategy and will contribute to long term problems
(Watson, 2009). Conversely, according to Hewitt Associates Best Employers in Asia survey of 305
Asian companies, the most important factors that affect behavior and happiness are recognition,
corporate polices such as benefits and worklife balance, and career opportunities. Pay only
appeared as an important secondary factor (after recognition) in the Phillipines, and as tertiary
factor among top executives (Fowler, 2003). Morale is the barometer of employee

College Education Worth The Cost
College Education Worth the Cost
What you guys think does College Education Worth the Cost? In the article The Wall Street Journal
edited by Riley, she said that a college education does not worth the cost. Again, she claims that
most of the colleges are doing their business, they did not care about the student (Riley). Those
types of colleges have lack serious core curriculum, they did not know their responsibility towards
the student. Moreover, I will not support the Riley argument because I am going to support the
article college is still worth the expenses, written by Justin Draeger. College education worth the
cost from different ways. All college student does not have same aims to attain college. After high
school some students have no any ideas what to do next. Those students just attain college, make
friends and get some idea from them than only they decided what to do in life. Some of them
continue college education and some of them find another field in which they are interested than
only they start their journey. In this research essay I am going to argue college education worth
the cost in several ways such as: Earning a college degree is all about opening up opportunities in
life, being educated person, and getting better career opportunities. College worth the cost because
earning a college degree open up opportunities in everyone s life. In this world, education becomes
necessary not only important.

The Competition for the Secret of Life in James D....
With a competitive spirit, people are driven to act in ways that they would not otherwise and the
results can be drastic. In the case of James D. Watson and Francis Crick, in Watson s novel the
Double Helix, this sensation of competition leads to one of the greatest discoveries in biology. But
the actions of Watson, Crick, and their competitors may or may not be justified for the results that
they yield; the powerful conflict of rivalry has beneficial, detrimental, and questionably moral
consequences that shaped the pathway to DNAs structure.
At times, regardless of the setbacks, rivalry can be advantageous by giving people the inspiration to
continue. Debating on whether to give up the race, Watson realizes the full implications this... Show

What could have been a successful collaboration becomes a large setback for Watson since he and
Crick now had to basically start from the beginning. As the search continues, each scientist in this
rivalry is finding a possible solution but then being disproved by another since they suspend crucial
pieces of the puzzle from each other. Although Franklin places them in a state of near defeat,
Watson and Crick find the information they need in a questionable manner.
As Watson and Crick become a few steps away from discovering DNA s structure, the actions
they take are arguably justifiable and they realize the significance of this rivalry. After Maurice
Wilkins, who works in the same lab as Franklin, gave away Franklin s work to Watson, and
notes: ...that if we could all agree where science was going, everything would be solved, (170).
Maurice brings a good point; if they worked together, DNA s structure could have been
discovered sooner as well as other important mysteries of science. However, certain events would
not have occurred and there is an equal chance nothing would have been uncovered. As everything
falls into place, every action taken in order for Watson and Crick to reach the answer is reasonable
considering that it lead to biology s greatest structures. In the end, Watson, Crick, and Wilkins
receives the Nobel Prize but the reality of what they did to get there is not as straightforward.
The race for DNA s structure was full

Paul s Ministry to Thessalonica Essay
The Apostle Paul was a traveling man. One must simply look at the various places where he
preached and established churches to confirm this fact. The letters of Paul found in the canonical
Bible establish connections with Rome, Corinth, Galatia, Ephesus, Philippi, Colossae, and
Thessalonica. Paul was heavily involved with the formation of the church in the final location, a
city now known as Thessalonki, and continued to support it through his letters. The church in
Thessalonica dealt with much oppression and persecution during its formativeyears. That kind of
beginning contributed to much uncertainty in the young church, especially considering that Paul, its
founder, was not always with them. Paul s ministry to the church can be found in... Show more

Not finding the two leaders, they attacked the house of new convert, drug him and several other
believers before city authorities, and accused them of seeking to cause disturbance. The converts
were released on bail and Paul and Silas were hurried off to another city.[2] From the very beginning
the Christians in Thessalonica were in a hostile environment.
The issue of persecution continues to exist in Pauls letters to the Thessalonians. At the beginning of
1 Thessalonians 2, Paul recalls the opposition that the gospel message faced when he first visited
the city. Thankfully, Paul did not just write about the hardship that persecution brought. We learn
from his writings that Paul addressed the troubles that the church was currently facing by sending
Timothy to help the Thessalonians deal with the opposition that they faced. He is encouraged when
Timothy returns with a positive report of the churchs faith and love.[3] Paul was honest with the
believers about the nature of persecution. The apostle writes that he warned those in Thessalonica
that such oppression would occur. In fact, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we
were to suffer persecution; so it turned out, as you know.[4] One of the key aspects in helping those
that are struggling is encouragement. Paul attempted to encourage the church when he wrote about
Timothys glowing assessment of the

Black Beauty Analysis
Black Beauty: An Autobiography of a Horse is about a horse named, Black Beauty, who hates
breaking in and is being attached to unbearable, heavy equipment. Slowly as the story continues,
his miserable pain turns into pride when he carries his master on his back. The excerpt from The
Georges and the Jewels is about Abby, a horserider, who has been knocked off by an unskilled
horse. Later on in the story, lying on the floor, she is reminded of her favorite horse, a sweet boy
mare and how she enjoyed riding her every time. In the excerpts, Black Beauty: An Autobiography
of a Horse by Anna Sewelland Georges and the Jewels by Jane Smiley, the authors use first person
point of view to demonstrate the character s development throughout the story. The first person
point of view is very vivid on how the characters feel, which lets the reader thoroughly understand
the character s transitions easily.
The story Black Beauty: An Autobiography of a Horse, gives the reader an elaborate
description of Black Beauty s feelings through the first person point of view. For example, in the
text it states A great piece of cold hard steel as thick as a man s finger to be pushed into one s
mouth, between one s teeth...so that no way in the world can you get rid of the nasty hard
thing, it is very bad! Yes, very bad! This tells the reader that Black Beauty didn t appreciate the
cold hard steel that had been put through her mouth. He regretted the fact of breaking in and
wanted to go back to his old life. The first quote matters because, it shows how Black Beauty had
felt in the beginning, frustrated and regretful. And, the author clearly demonstrates how Black
Beauty feels through first person, since he states Very bad! Yes, very bad! This statement really
brings out the fact that he hated breaking in. And, if it were to be 3rd person, Black beauty s
feelings wouldn t clearly be demonstrated, and rather the feelings of author would have been
demonstrated. Black Beauty changed, in the text states It certainly did feel queer, but must say I
felt rather proud to carry my master, and as he continued to ride me a little every day I soon
became accustomed to it. This shows how Black Beauty had changed from the beginning

Mental Rotation of Images
Abstract The idea of mental imagery has always been a controversial subject in the field of
psychology. Many psychologists have argued that such a concept is impossible to measure
because it can not be directly observed. Though they are right about this, it is not impossible to
measure how quickly mental rotations of images are processed in our brains. Subjects in this
experiment were presented two shapes simultaneously, via computer screen, and asked to make
judgement, as quickly as possible, as to whether the two shapes presented were the same or mirror
images. Two different shapes were used in this experiment, each given as often as the other. During
each trial one shape remained stationary and the other was rotated with varying... Show more

Overall, when comparing the reaction times of pictures to letters, picture reaction times are said to
be generally greater. In conducting this experiment 20 right handed subjects were used, 10 male and
10 female. Subjects participated in this study either to earn course credit, or for payment of ten
dollars per hour. Three things were concluded from this experiment. First, picture rotations took
longer to perform than letter rotations. Second, there were no sex differences in reaction times for
either stimulus presented, and third, there was a linear increase in reaction times as angular
disparity of both stimuli sets increased (Desrocher, smith Taylor, 1995). As predicted this study did
replicate some previous findings. However, based on the data from this experiment sex differences
did not yield a significant difference in reaction times when presented with the different stimuli.
Concurrent with our data, both of the previously mentioned experiments concluded the same thing;
reaction times increased as angular disparity increased. Although the objectives in each experiment
were somewhat different, there has been a sufficient amount of evidence to support the hypothesis,
that reaction times will increase as the angular disparity of objects increase. Method Participants

After the rumours of the ill treatment of enslaves in the colonies, the French government was
aiming to enforce laws to increase the working conditions that enslaves of St. Dominique were
working under. Thus, white planters wanted a form of independence because they didn t agree
with the laws that the government were putting in place. They thought that their way of treating
enslaves was the best to get the most amount of effort from enslaves. Although the free people of
colour were members of a free and educated propertied class the system prevented them from
occupying many public headquarters because of their colour. In addition, they were forced to
join the French military which most was hesitant to do. Even though they were still struggling
for full rights of citizenship, the concept of the equality embedded in the doctrine of The Rights
of Man attracted them. Some of these free d colour even made voyages to France to speak on

Jesus Villahermosa Thesis
After reading the essay written by Jesus Villahermosa I believe his thesis statement is Given my
extensive experience dealing with violence in the workplace and at schools and colleges, I do not
think professors and administrators, let alone students, should carry guns . In his second
paragraph, he lays out reason as to why he feels this way and shows that he can be considered an
expert in firearmsafety. Giving information into his background reinforces his position and add to
his argument against arming people on college campuses. Some may be surprised that he is against
having armed professors and students on campusbecause of his background. However, I am not
surprised that he is strongly against having firearm toting professors, administrators and students
throughout campuses. He is properly trained, experienced with firearm safety and marksmanship
which in turn gives him great support to his argument. Villahermosa gave ample reasons to support
his argument against carrying weapons on college campuses throughout his essay. The most
persuasive reason he gives against guns on campus is Will faculty and staff members be prepared

He gave clear and abundant reasons to back up his argument and laid out many consequences for
having a policy that would allow guns on campus. With colleges already struggling financially a
policy allowing guns would bring even more need for funding to cash strapped institutions. The
training required would be extensive and costly to have competent people carrying and ready to use
their gun if needed. The risks involved in allowing guns on campus seem to be extremely high and
wildly unpredictable. It would make it harder for police to distinguish between the good guy and
the bad guy in a crisis. Schools and employees would be subjected to lawsuits and even
imprisonment if innocent bystanders are shot instead of intended

Analysis of the Salem Witch Trials
History generally regards the period of Salem witchcraft trials as a radical instatement of
religious zeal which favored superstition over reason and targeted a large number of women over
a much smaller number of men. Admittedly, the 1692 witchcraft crisis is a very complex
historical episode, yet seeing as the majority of the people involved were women, it can be
perceived as a gender issue, and illustrative for the definition of the role of women in New
England. The present work s aim is to outline the colonial mindset concerning women and present
relevant theories by means of analyzing three cases of witchcraftaccusation together with delving
into the accusers perspective.
The Puritans that comprised the colony of Salem, Massachusetts, were extremely religious,
attributing biblical meaning to all aspects of their lives and being accustomed to personify the
devil (Kocić, 2010). Specifically, church elders strongly believed that their congregation was
superlatively righteous and for this reason the devil would try to target it with attacks in all forms,
hence it was impressed upon the community to be vigilant against any signs of his presence. Such
signs were subject to interpretation, yet they were generally concentrated on negative events which
occurred unexplainably in the colony, for instance in the eventuality of a crop failure, stillborn
children, or serious disease of an unknown nature. Common perception identified a witch as
someone who bonded their body and

Regional Trade Arrangements Of Africa And Their Motives Essay
2.Regional Trade Arrangements in Africa and Their Motives Regionalism has become one of the
buzz words in international trade diplomacy nowadays. There is almost no country in the world
which does not have membership in one or two regional economic integrations, and the coverage
and scope of these arrangements have grown more than ever before. Different authors have used
different approaches to define the concept of regional integration. Therefore, it is important to
discuss the definitions of economic integration according to the most prominent authors in the field
of regional integration before taking on the theoretical and empirical literatures of the concept. One
of the widely accepted definitions of economic integration is that of Balassa (1961), which is
defined as the abolition of discrimination within an area . Another very important definition of
economic integration relevant to developing countries is that of Kahnert, P. Richards, Stoutjesdijk,
and Thomopoulos (1969). According to these authors, economic integration is the process of
progressive removal of trade discriminations which occur at national borders . Furthermore,
Machlup (1977) defines economic integration as a process of merging separate economies into a
larger economic region with the objective of realizing the efficient utilization of all potential
opportunities of the division of labor. From the above definitions, it can be inferred that all the
definitions spin around one central point; and

Chaffee s Cosmological Argument
Per Chaffee, the cosmological argument examines the orderly, coherent, and intelligible nature of
the cosmos and examines the proofs that are given by science and philosophers for God to have
designed the universe (Chaffee 338). He states that in the cosmological argument, the universe is
contingent or dependent on God to create it because upon examination of the universe, everything
owes its existenceto something else; following this logic, for the universe to exist, there must be
something that the universe owes its existence to (338). Theists claim that this reason for the
universe to be in existence is divine creation by an almighty, eternal, God. Chaffee continues on to
state the cosmological theory provides the basis for its argument... Show more content on

That is, when Russell claimed that the cosmological theory was invalid because that it offers no
explanation as to the origin of God, I stated that it was a sweeping generalization fallacy. He does
so by not considering the exception of the creation of God. In Craig s dissertation, he alludes to
an Uncaused First Cause and expands upon this idea by stating that it must transcend space and
time, since it created space and time (Craig). This means that because God existed before the
origin of space and time, he is exempt from the rules of space and time and therefore, does neither
need an origin to exist, nor have one. He is eternal in every aspect, infinite in existence. The
cosmological argument thus provides us with the grounds to believe in the existence of a
beginningless, uncaused, timeless, spaceless, changeless, immaterial, enormously powerful,

Why Is It Always Wrong To Prove Anything Upon Insufficient...
SYNOPSIS In this essay, I will criticize W.K. Clifford s main claim that it is always wrong,
everywhere, and for anyone, to believe anything upon insufficient evidence. I will prove it is not
wrong to form a belief without sufficient evidence, by engaging with ineffability. In the first section,
I will begin by presenting Clifford s main argumentfor why it is always wrong to believe anything
upon insufficient evidence. In the second section, I will define and explain The Representation
Principle. Since Clifford does not clearly define what constitutes sufficient evidence, I will employ
The Representation Principle as one requirement for sufficient evidence. The Representation
Principle states: it is impossible to acquire sufficient evidence if someone is unable to fully
represent all of the relevant information. In the third section, I will present my argument for
refraining from forming beliefs, also referenced as The RFB Argument. I conclude that in some
cases it is wrong for human beings... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clifford presents a case involving an individual holding a belief upon insufficient evidence. He
describes a ship owner who sincerely believes in the soundness of his ship when he sends it on a
journey, holding a great number of people aboard. However, he acquired his belief in the soundness
of the ship by stifling his doubts about the flaws of the boat, rather than by honestly seeking the
truth. Clifford claims the ship owner is wrong in holding his belief, since he did not form his
belief on sufficient evidence. Regardless of the outcome of the ship s journey, the ship owner
believed wrongly. Clifford s argument can be presented as follows: 1. In the ship owner case, the
ship owner believed wrongly. 2. If the ship owner believed wrongly, then it is always wrong,
everywhere, and for anyone, to believe anything upon insufficient evidence. C. So, It is always
wrong, everywhere, and for anyone, to believe anything upon insufficient

The Impact Of The Environment On The Environment
Humanity is slowly discovering new diseases, infections, and deadly illnesses. Researchers blame
genetics and how it is passed down from generation to generation through shared chromosomes. If
they don t blame genetics they blame the adaptation of species or the animals consumed by the
population. However, these animals carry what they consume: plants, insects, water, oxygen, and
any other animal the predators consume. People eat the meat, the vegetables, and breathe the
oxygen that the trees let out during photosynthesis, the food chain is being disrupted because of the
impact that the humans have on the ecosystem and vice versa. The realistic view of what is
happening is that citizens are innovating having the tendency to litter, industries are being created
causing pollution and oil spills, malls are being made while parks and forests are being cut down
for parking. With this said, the ecosystem is, in reality, the reason for the diseases affecting human
health. As the environment changes in the community, the human species struggle to adapt and
accommodate themselves because of pollution in the air, land, and water causing problems such as
Cancer, Asthma, and other diseases. Although the environment impacts human health, the human
community is also having a drastic impact on the environment because of gentrification, innovation,
and accommodation.
The impact that the environment has on human health is just as drastic as humanity having an
impact on the environment. In

Following the Civil War, the government was in the process of establishing a support system

by Eric Foner explains how the South was in trouble. Due to the compensations that were left after
the war, Reconstruction was the only hope of rebuilding the economy in the South. Along with
trying to reconstruct the government situations, there were also issues that had come along that

the white southerners the right to control the African American people. Overall, the Reconstruction

The flea , Donne only has one goal, which in this case is sex. He uses the flea because the flea

This balancing act of power has then been further complicated in

Essay about Reasons for Global Warming and What Can Be...
Global warming is an increase in the Earth s average atmospheric temperature that causes
corresponding changes in climate. The Earth goes through natural heating and cooling cycles, but
many people think recent spikes in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases due to developing
industry are interfering with the Earth s natural cycle, causing irregular global warming. The theory
that humans burning fossil fuels causes global warming isn t completely based on fact. It is based

Single celled marine organisms that live at the bottom of Earth s oceans gain nutrients from
windblown dust that is captured by surface plankton who sink down to the bottom of the Southern
Ocean when they die, providing nutrients to these organisms. When nourished, these organisms
give off high levels of carbon dioxide into the water, which rise to the surface and mix with the
atmosphere causing fluctuations in carbon dioxide levels. Changes in the atmospheric interaction
with the chemicals of these organisms vary highly when transitioning from interglacial to glacial
periods, and can have rapid impacts on climate at particularly low levels of windblown dust in the
oceans. More research is being conducted to find the impact of these microorganisms on the
climate, but it is believed that they have caused rapid changes to Earth s climate in the past. Finally,
another factor to why global warming is most likely not human caused, is that temperature
measurement is relatively new. The oldest series of temperature measurement is from Central
England and goes back to the mid 17th century. To get approximate measurements of the global
temperature from thousands or even millions of years ago proxies (substitutes) must be used.
Proxies of temperature measurement are tree rings and ice cores, but these are not entirely accurate,
it is harder to obtain accurate measurements from further back in time. So, it is not certain that the

Beyonce Should Not Be Selling Pepsi Products
Is it okay for One direction fighting with our famous Drew Brees to be selling soda, yes, but for
Queen B to sell or advertise soda it s a whole different story. Since Beyonce is the iconic pop star
of the century she is known by all no matter where you are from we all know the famous Queen
B. So for her to be advertising pepsi products is a total let down towards her career. All people
have their own opinion stating whether or not they agree with beyonce selling or advertising the
product of pepsi, but however my opinion on things are completely different. My opinion is
beyonce should not be selling pepsi products at all, considering she is all about healthy living. So
for her to be all about healthy living and selling or advertising pepsi

Exercise Affecting Human Heart Rate
How can exercise impact human heart rate over time? After a while of doing exercise your heart
rate will start going down, that s what I saw. During the first days my heart rate was high but after
the weeks went by it started going down a lot. I also saw that you will get really hot and you will
start sweating a lot. In the first day my heart rate before was 100, and after we ran it went down to
92, I probably didn t run at all during that time. During day two it was really hot and my heart rate
before was 80 and my heart rate after was 128. In day three it was a bit cloudy and my heart rate
was 100 which went up 20 from the previous day and my heart rate after was 184. In day 4 my
heart rate was 98, and after it was 136, it was really hot

Subjective Well-Being Essay
According to Freud s conclusion based on decades of experimentation and theoretical work in the
field of psychotherapy, humans cannot be happy because a satisfaction of needs creates only a
momentary phase of happiness which expires after some time. Therefore, the focus of life should
not be obtaining happiness, and people should focus on avoiding suffering instead (Bullock, n.d.).
However, several paradigms about well being exist, and individual cognitive patterns and paradigms
define the emotional responses to social influences. From an objective viewpoint, well being is a
state of consciousness that arises from a combination of internal and external factors, and money is
an unstable external influence in defining... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps from a mental health perspective, people who pursue money because of unrealistic goals
can suffer from more stress and impair their mental health more significantly than people who
pursue money for realistic goals. Furthermore, several cross sectional studies support the
economic paradigm that money is positively correlated with happiness (Gardner Oswald, 2007).
Although cross sectional studies have many weaknesses, Gardener and Oswald (2007) agree with
those conclusions because their longitudinal study found that a windfall of money has the same
positive effect on happiness and lower mental stress. In other words, if people achieve financial
success, their motivation will be fulfilled. Although happiness achieved by high income levels is
unstable and completely dependent on the income level, it is not possible to define financial
security as more stable than happiness if people lose their income. Unrealistic money making
motivations appear to be unstable, but realistic motivations are not more stable than unrealistic
ones. Because income is connected with both types of motivations, all money making goals are
achieved by creating income, and all goals are lost by losing income. It is apparently not possible
to generalize conclusions based on negative correlations. If research proves that certain motives are
in a negative correlation with subjective well being, it will

The Music Of The World Music Essay
Authenticity through Appropriation Ethnicity is deep and innate within stars and society, therefore
it cannot be performed. Artists perform their music. While musicians do not perform their race,
since it is an inherent quality of all people, it is often, but not always, seen as inauthentic when
musicians perform outside of their race, gender, or class. This is especially true when someone
from a more privileged class performs the art of the lower class. While completely replicating a
certain style of music can often be seen as inauthentic, certain artists can easily perform outside of a
genre while taking (or stealing, based on your point of view) elements, sounds, chords, and styles
from those genres and remixing them. The artist achieves expressive authenticity , where an artist
is viewed as real and authentic without the consideration of ethnicity (Rudinow 129). One artist
who successfully does this, but not without controversy, is Paul Simon through his use of world
music .
Simon was originally a part of a folk rock duo, Simon and Garfunkel, in the 60s that achieved great
success in the United States. The group, which split in 1970, mostly performed music that is
generally considered to be mainstream white American pop music. In the early 1980s, more than a
decade after his groups split, Paul Simon was in a creative slump with two unsuccessful albums
(Greer 1). In order to explore new sounds and genres Simon traveled to apartheid South Africa.
There he met

The Museum Of Anthropology And The Smithsonian Museum
Try, if you would, to recall your last visit to a museum or other similar institution. Did you
immediately accept the information presented to you as fact? Did you stop to think about how a
particular exhibit represents a culture and whether or not it was accurate? Since their origin,
museums were created for the purpose of preservation and interpretation of the material culturethey
exhibit, and have been the most widely accepted method for the dissemination of information
pertaining to other cultures. That being said, there is an increasing amount of discourse today
questioning the value of museums and the ways in which their exhibition of material culture
actually serves to devalue or misrepresent their cultures of origin. For this research paper, I have
decided to focus in the collections of material culture present in the Beloit College Logan Museum
of Anthropologyand the Smithsonian Museum. First, I begin by sharing what I have learned about
the history surrounding the origins of museums. Next, I identify the ways in which museums
obscure and misrepresent the cultures they display through their exhibits either intentionally or
otherwise. Finally, I attempt to utilize what I have learned in order to compare the two institutions
and identify the ways in which they have taken steps to keep up with modern museological and
discourse.
To begin, preservation and interpretation, the concepts that form the basis of museums, originates
from the human inclination to acquire

18 dependant variables were required from all 21 participants in this group. The positive and
negative responses were correlated and the mean obtained for each. The standard deviation was also
calculated for each response. The results show that there was a significant swing towards the
positive responses with the mean of 14.71 and a standard deviation of 2.87. The negative responses
correlated a mean score of 3.24 with a standard deviation of 2.77. This demonstrates that just over
70% of those who participated in the Warm control group returned positive responses with both
standard deviations within an acceptable level of around 2.8. This is clear evidence that the
inclusion of the central trait independent variable of Warm did significantly influence the dependant
variable outcome in favour of positive comments thus collaborating Asch s hypothesis.

The Eu s Hybrid System
Analysts and legal experts have debated on whether the EU should be a considered as a
supranational legal system or an intergovernmental one. However, the current state of the EU is a
mixed system, a hybrid of both supranational and intergovernmental elements. It is an
intergovernmental organization that has supranational characteristics which often results in tension
between the principle of national sovereignty of member states and supranationality of EU law.
The EU was established by international agreements signed by member states therefore once EU
legislation is passed, it becomes binding on all member states; rules can be made in the EU which
have a direct impact on the Member States and thereby also a direct effect on the citizens of the
member states. Most disputes about EU primary and secondary laws are decided by a body with a
distinct supranational characteristics, the Court of Justice of the European Union(CJEU).
This paper will analyse the role of the CJEU in the EU s hybrid system. It beings by outlining its
organization and structure as well as its how its competences has transformed to support a more
federalist role. The second section reviews how the competences of the CJEU has propelled it to
make comprehensive decisions that has pushed it to become more of federal supreme court rather
than an international judicial body. The third section looks at areas of limitations of the CJEU that
have attempted reign in its expansive powers. The paper argues that

  • 2. A Russian Martyr, Ivan Vasilyevich Moiseyev Dying at only twenty years old doesn t leave much space for someone to do something remarkable, but for Ivan Moiseyev, it did. Moiseyev was born in 1952, and raised in a Christian home by his two parents, Vasily Timofeyevich and Ionna Konstantinova, along with his six brothers and sister. In 1968 Ivan finished school at a young age of sixteen and went on to join the Evangelical Christian Baptist Church (Neerskov, H.K.). In 1970, after about a year and a half of joining the church, Moiseyev gave his life to the Lord, and obtained a newfound love to preach the Gospel not only in church, but to the young people of Volontirovka, his hometown. For quite some time, Ivan Moiseyev had the job of a delivery driver. That is, until November 1970, when Moiseyev got drafted into the Soviet Army for two years of training and service (Neerskov, H.K.). Since he became such a strong Christian, Moiseyev was always trying to find a time and place to pray. Eventually, Moiseyev found a room that stayed empty till ten A.M. Every day, Ivan woke up at five A.M. and went to that room to pray until nine A.M. (A Russian Martyr, Ivan Vasilyevich Moiseyev). On one particular morning, Ivan was running late and had to hurry to the morning call; everyone had been waiting for him, and looking everywhere for him in addition. Ivan had to explain his reason for missing to the commanding officer, who already knew Moiseyev s position as a believer, and informed Ivan that he would have a punishment (A Russian ... • 5. Essay about The Crying of Lot 49 Technology has long been recognized as a mixed blessing. Its up/downside nature was illustrated nicely in Walt Disney s Fantasia by the myth of the Sorcerer s Apprentice:not only does the magic of the machine produce what you desire, it often gives you much more than you can use as Oedipa Maas, the heroine of this stark American fable, discovers on her frenetic Californian Odyssey. Information which strains to reveal Everything might well succeed only in conveying nothing, becoming practically indistinguishable from noise. But there is noise, and Noise. Many of the devices Pynchon uses to establish informational patterns in Lot 49 are metaphors for life in a mythic, fractionalized and increasingly noisy modern America. Hapless Oedipa ... • 6. Comparing Star Trek Into Darkness And The Vulcan Culture The movie Star Trek into Darkness is a futuristic Sci fi fantasy movie about the people of the Star Trek Enterprise. The Star Trek Enterprise is very similar to NASA in the sense of they want to explore space. This Star Trek movie focuses on Captain Kirk and Commander Spock. The contrast to these two characters is that one is a human and one is half human and half vulcan. Emotional expression is not common in the Vulcan culture meaning it s not as normal to show much emotion in their culture. Vulcan do have emotions but they are very controlled so they are almost portrayed as robotic people. Though Spock is half human he usually takes after the Vulcan side meaning he is more on the left hemisphere of thinking. This means he is more logical in his thinking and less on the creative right hemisphere. This becomes a increasing problem throughout the series. • 7. Principles Of Defending In Soccer The main principles of defending in soccer consist of a pressure player, a cover player and the other defenders exist a balance players. These principles create a numbers up situation against the offensive player handling the ball. This allows defenders to take advantage of an individual player and simultaneously maintain an offsides trap for the other offensive players. The pressure defender s role is to put pressure on the player with the ball. The defender begins by attempting to stop possession through the denial of the ball, if possession is gained then the defender must be goal side of the attacker and delay them from turning towards the goal. If the attacker has managed to turn towards the goal then the defender must keep the attacker from being able to run at goal, and, at all times, tries to ensure that the attacker does not get a shooting opportunity. By staying an adequate distance from the attacker, where you aren t so close that the attacker is able to dribble past, but close enough to where the attacker s attention must be solely on the ball. ... In the possibility that attacker beats the pressure defender, the cover player becomes the pressure player. Seventy one percent of 18 to 29 year olds say they are likely to look for new jobs once the economy turns around, according to the same survey. Relying upon the recession and fear of job loss to maintain worker productivity is an ineffective short term strategy and will contribute to long term problems (Watson, 2009). • 13. College Education Worth The Cost College Education Worth the Cost What you guys think does College Education Worth the Cost? In the article The Wall Street Journal edited by Riley, she said that a college education does not worth the cost. Again, she claims that most of the colleges are doing their business, they did not care about the student (Riley). Those types of colleges have lack serious core curriculum, they did not know their responsibility towards the student. Moreover, I will not support the Riley argument because I am going to support the article college is still worth the expenses, written by Justin Draeger. College education worth the cost from different ways. All college student does not have same aims to attain college. After high school some students have no any ideas what to do next. Those students just attain college, make friends and get some idea from them than only they decided what to do in life. Some of them continue college education and some of them find another field in which they are interested than only they start their journey. In this research essay I am going to argue college education worth the cost in several ways such as: Earning a college degree is all about opening up opportunities in life, being educated person, and getting better career opportunities. College worth the cost because earning a college degree open up opportunities in everyone s life. In this world, education becomes necessary not only important. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Competition for the Secret of Life in James D.... With a competitive spirit, people are driven to act in ways that they would not otherwise and the results can be drastic. In the case of James D. Watson and Francis Crick, in Watson s novel the Double Helix, this sensation of competition leads to one of the greatest discoveries in biology. But the actions of Watson, Crick, and their competitors may or may not be justified for the results that they yield; the powerful conflict of rivalry has beneficial, detrimental, and questionably moral consequences that shaped the pathway to DNAs structure. At times, regardless of the setbacks, rivalry can be advantageous by giving people the inspiration to continue. Debating on whether to give up the race, Watson realizes the full implications this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What could have been a successful collaboration becomes a large setback for Watson since he and Crick now had to basically start from the beginning. As the search continues, each scientist in this rivalry is finding a possible solution but then being disproved by another since they suspend crucial pieces of the puzzle from each other. Although Franklin places them in a state of near defeat, Watson and Crick find the information they need in a questionable manner. As Watson and Crick become a few steps away from discovering DNA s structure, the actions they take are arguably justifiable and they realize the significance of this rivalry. After Maurice Wilkins, who works in the same lab as Franklin, gave away Franklin s work to Watson, and notes: ...that if we could all agree where science was going, everything would be solved, (170). Maurice brings a good point; if they worked together, DNA s structure could have been discovered sooner as well as other important mysteries of science. However, certain events would not have occurred and there is an equal chance nothing would have been uncovered. As everything falls into place, every action taken in order for Watson and Crick to reach the answer is reasonable considering that it lead to biology s greatest structures. In the end, Watson, Crick, and Wilkins receives the Nobel Prize but the reality of what they did to get there is not as straightforward. The race for DNA s structure was full ... The letters of Paul found in the canonical Bible establish connections with Rome, Corinth, Galatia, Ephesus, Philippi, Colossae, and Thessalonica. Paul was heavily involved with the formation of the church in the final location, a city now known as Thessalonki, and continued to support it through his letters. The church in Thessalonica dealt with much oppression and persecution during its formativeyears. That kind of beginning contributed to much uncertainty in the young church, especially considering that Paul, its founder, was not always with them. Paul s ministry to the church can be found in... Not finding the two leaders, they attacked the house of new convert, drug him and several other believers before city authorities, and accused them of seeking to cause disturbance. The converts were released on bail and Paul and Silas were hurried off to another city.[2] From the very beginning the Christians in Thessalonica were in a hostile environment. The issue of persecution continues to exist in Pauls letters to the Thessalonians. At the beginning of 1 Thessalonians 2, Paul recalls the opposition that the gospel message faced when he first visited the city. Thankfully, Paul did not just write about the hardship that persecution brought. We learn from his writings that Paul addressed the troubles that the church was currently facing by sending Timothy to help the Thessalonians deal with the opposition that they faced. He is encouraged when Timothy returns with a positive report of the churchs faith and love.[3] Paul was honest with the believers about the nature of persecution. The apostle writes that he warned those in Thessalonica that such oppression would occur. In fact, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we were to suffer persecution; so it turned out, as you know.[4] One of the key aspects in helping those that are struggling is encouragement. • 16. Black Beauty Analysis Black Beauty: An Autobiography of a Horse is about a horse named, Black Beauty, who hates breaking in and is being attached to unbearable, heavy equipment. Slowly as the story continues, his miserable pain turns into pride when he carries his master on his back. The excerpt from The Georges and the Jewels is about Abby, a horserider, who has been knocked off by an unskilled horse. Later on in the story, lying on the floor, she is reminded of her favorite horse, a sweet boy mare and how she enjoyed riding her every time. In the excerpts, Black Beauty: An Autobiography of a Horse by Anna Sewelland Georges and the Jewels by Jane Smiley, the authors use first person point of view to demonstrate the character s development throughout the story. The first person point of view is very vivid on how the characters feel, which lets the reader thoroughly understand the character s transitions easily. The story Black Beauty: An Autobiography of a Horse, gives the reader an elaborate description of Black Beauty s feelings through the first person point of view. For example, in the text it states A great piece of cold hard steel as thick as a man s finger to be pushed into one s mouth, between one s teeth...so that no way in the world can you get rid of the nasty hard thing, it is very bad! Yes, very bad! This tells the reader that Black Beauty didn t appreciate the cold hard steel that had been put through her mouth. He regretted the fact of breaking in and wanted to go back to his old life. The first quote matters because, it shows how Black Beauty had felt in the beginning, frustrated and regretful. And, the author clearly demonstrates how Black Beauty feels through first person, since he states Very bad! Yes, very bad! This statement really brings out the fact that he hated breaking in. And, if it were to be 3rd person, Black beauty s feelings wouldn t clearly be demonstrated, and rather the feelings of author would have been demonstrated. Black Beauty changed, in the text states It certainly did feel queer, but must say I felt rather proud to carry my master, and as he continued to ride me a little every day I soon became accustomed to it. This shows how Black Beauty had changed from the beginning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Mental Rotation of Images Abstract The idea of mental imagery has always been a controversial subject in the field of psychology. Many psychologists have argued that such a concept is impossible to measure because it can not be directly observed. Though they are right about this, it is not impossible to measure how quickly mental rotations of images are processed in our brains. Subjects in this experiment were presented two shapes simultaneously, via computer screen, and asked to make judgement, as quickly as possible, as to whether the two shapes presented were the same or mirror images. Two different shapes were used in this experiment, each given as often as the other. During each trial one shape remained stationary and the other was rotated with varying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overall, when comparing the reaction times of pictures to letters, picture reaction times are said to be generally greater. In conducting this experiment 20 right handed subjects were used, 10 male and 10 female. Subjects participated in this study either to earn course credit, or for payment of ten dollars per hour. Three things were concluded from this experiment. First, picture rotations took longer to perform than letter rotations. Second, there were no sex differences in reaction times for either stimulus presented, and third, there was a linear increase in reaction times as angular disparity of both stimuli sets increased (Desrocher, smith Taylor, 1995). As predicted this study did replicate some previous findings. However, based on the data from this experiment sex differences did not yield a significant difference in reaction times when presented with the different stimuli. Concurrent with our data, both of the previously mentioned experiments concluded the same thing; reaction times increased as angular disparity increased. Although the objectives in each experiment were somewhat different, there has been a sufficient amount of evidence to support the hypothesis, that reaction times will increase as the angular disparity of objects increase. Analysis of the Salem Witch Trials History generally regards the period of Salem witchcraft trials as a radical instatement of religious zeal which favored superstition over reason and targeted a large number of women over a much smaller number of men. Admittedly, the 1692 witchcraft crisis is a very complex historical episode, yet seeing as the majority of the people involved were women, it can be perceived as a gender issue, and illustrative for the definition of the role of women in New England. The present work s aim is to outline the colonial mindset concerning women and present relevant theories by means of analyzing three cases of witchcraftaccusation together with delving into the accusers perspective. The Puritans that comprised the colony of Salem, Massachusetts, were extremely religious, attributing biblical meaning to all aspects of their lives and being accustomed to personify the devil (KociД‡, 2010). Specifically, church elders strongly believed that their congregation was superlatively righteous and for this reason the devil would try to target it with attacks in all forms, hence it was impressed upon the community to be vigilant against any signs of his presence. Such signs were subject to interpretation, yet they were generally concentrated on negative events which occurred unexplainably in the colony, for instance in the eventuality of a crop failure, stillborn children, or serious disease of an unknown nature. I will prove it is not wrong to form a belief without sufficient evidence, by engaging with ineffability. In the first section, I will begin by presenting Clifford s main argumentfor why it is always wrong to believe anything upon insufficient evidence. In the second section, I will define and explain The Representation Principle. Since Clifford does not clearly define what constitutes sufficient evidence, I will employ The Representation Principle as one requirement for sufficient evidence. The Representation Principle states: it is impossible to acquire sufficient evidence if someone is unable to fully represent all of the relevant information. In the third section, I will present my argument for refraining from forming beliefs, also referenced as The RFB Argument. I conclude that in some cases it is wrong for human beings... It is the base of his most well known stories, where dreams are just the norm. br br J.R.R. may owe much of his success to his diverse beginnings. On April 16, 1891, Mabel Suffield and Arthur Reuel Tolkien were married in Bloemfontein, South Africa. They soon gave birth to John Ronald Reuel Tolkien on January 3, 1892, who was christened later that month. br br In April of 1895 Mabel took J.R.R. and his younger brother to Birmingham England. R. improvised a story, the story of Rover, a real dog magically transformed into a toy. After many fantastic adventures in search of the wizard who wronged him, at last he wins back his doggy life. This charming tale, inhabited by a terrible dragon and a wise old whale, by the king of the sea, and the Man in the Moon, was a Tolkien family favorite. Before Tolkien s death, it went through several drafts over the years, but was not published until after his death. br br In 1919, J.R.R. went to work for the Oxford English Dictionary for 2 years, which expanded his horizons even further, as he developed a rich use of the English language. In 1921, he began teaching at the University of Leeds, and by 1924, became Professor of English Language. In 1925 Tolkien moved to Oxford, where he served as Rawlingson Professor of Anglo Saxon and Fellow of Pembroke College for the next 24 years. During this time he specialized in old and middle English. br br In 1936 the Hobbit is completed and published the following year. Originally this masterpiece was intended to be a children s book, but it is now celebrated throughout the fantasy genre as a classic. This is by far, my own personally favorite book I have ever read. It has all the elements of a wonderfully written fantasy. br br Bilbo Baggins, the hobbit, is in a peaceful sort of cozy hole in the Shire, a place where adventures are uncommon and rather unwanted. ... To his Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell and The Flea by John Donne Two of the poems in Best Words are seduction poems, rather than love poems. Where as in The flea , Donne only has one goal, which in this case is sex. He uses the flea because the flea has made them almost married because of the exchange of blood. This is shown by the flea sucked me and sucked you blood mingled. It is evident that by using the flea and saying how the flea has married them, now gives Donne the power to follow out his intention, and become in control again of his mistress. Although in the poem s their mistress soon relents, making the poet s argument successful. This balancing act of power has then been further complicated in Donne s The flea where it is not simply a care of bedding his lady. Donne is more apprehensive about his intellectual powers, when he says, Cruel and sudden, hast thou since . This quotation has revealed that Donne sees that his act of seduction being prefaced by a battle of wits. But his mistress reveals to him with her skills. As she argues back, Find st not thyself nor me the weaker now . Despite this rally Donne tries to win the argument by saying, Just so much honour, when thou yield s to/ will waste, as this flea s death took life from thee. Although both poets intention is the same to seduce their mistress, there is a subtle difference between the two poems. We know this because he says in, To his coy mistress , Marvell ... • 39. Essay about Reasons for Global Warming and What Can Be... Global warming is an increase in the Earth s average atmospheric temperature that causes corresponding changes in climate. The Earth goes through natural heating and cooling cycles, but many people think recent spikes in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases due to developing industry are interfering with the Earth s natural cycle, causing irregular global warming. The theory that humans burning fossil fuels causes global warming isn t completely based on fact. It is based more on predictions of the future and assumptions of the past which cannot accurately be determined. Global warming is a part of Earth s natural process, not because of human pollution. First of all, Earth undergoes what is called interglacial and glacial periods,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Single celled marine organisms that live at the bottom of Earth s oceans gain nutrients from windblown dust that is captured by surface plankton who sink down to the bottom of the Southern Ocean when they die, providing nutrients to these organisms. When nourished, these organisms give off high levels of carbon dioxide into the water, which rise to the surface and mix with the atmosphere causing fluctuations in carbon dioxide levels. Changes in the atmospheric interaction with the chemicals of these organisms vary highly when transitioning from interglacial to glacial periods, and can have rapid impacts on climate at particularly low levels of windblown dust in the oceans. More research is being conducted to find the impact of these microorganisms on the climate, but it is believed that they have caused rapid changes to Earth s climate in the past. Finally, another factor to why global warming is most likely not human caused, is that temperature measurement is relatively new. The oldest series of temperature measurement is from Central England and goes back to the mid 17th century. To get approximate measurements of the global temperature from thousands or even millions of years ago proxies (substitutes) must be used. Proxies of temperature measurement are tree rings and ice cores, but these are not entirely accurate, it is harder to obtain accurate measurements from further back in time. So, it is not certain that the Earth hasn t gone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Subjective Well-Being Essay According to Freud s conclusion based on decades of experimentation and theoretical work in the field of psychotherapy, humans cannot be happy because a satisfaction of needs creates only a momentary phase of happiness which expires after some time. Therefore, the focus of life should not be obtaining happiness, and people should focus on avoiding suffering instead (Bullock, n.d.). However, several paradigms about well being exist, and individual cognitive patterns and paradigms define the emotional responses to social influences. From an objective viewpoint, well being is a state of consciousness that arises from a combination of internal and external factors, and money is an unstable external influence in defining... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps from a mental health perspective, people who pursue money because of unrealistic goals can suffer from more stress and impair their mental health more significantly than people who pursue money for realistic goals. Furthermore, several cross sectional studies support the economic paradigm that money is positively correlated with happiness (Gardner Oswald, 2007). Although cross sectional studies have many weaknesses, Gardener and Oswald (2007) agree with those conclusions because their longitudinal study found that a windfall of money has the same positive effect on happiness and lower mental stress. In other words, if people achieve financial success, their motivation will be fulfilled. Although happiness achieved by high income levels is unstable and completely dependent on the income level, it is not possible to define financial security as more stable than happiness if people lose their income. Unrealistic money making motivations appear to be unstable, but realistic motivations are not more stable than unrealistic ones. Because income is connected with both types of motivations, all money making goals are achieved by creating income, and all goals are lost by losing income. It is apparently not possible to generalize conclusions based on negative correlations. If research proves that certain motives are in a negative correlation with subjective well being, it will ... • 43. The Music Of The World Music Essay Authenticity through Appropriation Ethnicity is deep and innate within stars and society, therefore it cannot be performed. Artists perform their music. While musicians do not perform their race, since it is an inherent quality of all people, it is often, but not always, seen as inauthentic when musicians perform outside of their race, gender, or class. This is especially true when someone from a more privileged class performs the art of the lower class. While completely replicating a certain style of music can often be seen as inauthentic, certain artists can easily perform outside of a genre while taking (or stealing, based on your point of view) elements, sounds, chords, and styles from those genres and remixing them. The artist achieves expressive authenticity , where an artist is viewed as real and authentic without the consideration of ethnicity (Rudinow 129). One artist who successfully does this, but not without controversy, is Paul Simon through his use of world music . Simon was originally a part of a folk rock duo, Simon and Garfunkel, in the 60s that achieved great success in the United States. The group, which split in 1970, mostly performed music that is generally considered to be mainstream white American pop music. In the early 1980s, more than a decade after his groups split, Paul Simon was in a creative slump with two unsuccessful albums (Greer 1). In order to explore new sounds and genres Simon traveled to apartheid South Africa. There he met ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Did you immediately accept the information presented to you as fact? Did you stop to think about how a particular exhibit represents a culture and whether or not it was accurate? Since their origin, museums were created for the purpose of preservation and interpretation of the material culturethey exhibit, and have been the most widely accepted method for the dissemination of information pertaining to other cultures. That being said, there is an increasing amount of discourse today questioning the value of museums and the ways in which their exhibition of material culture actually serves to devalue or misrepresent their cultures of origin. For this research paper, I have decided to focus in the collections of material culture present in the Beloit College Logan Museum of Anthropologyand the Smithsonian Museum. First, I begin by sharing what I have learned about the history surrounding the origins of museums. Next, I identify the ways in which museums obscure and misrepresent the cultures they display through their exhibits either intentionally or otherwise. Finally, I attempt to utilize what I have learned in order to compare the two institutions and identify the ways in which they have taken steps to keep up with modern museological and discourse. To begin, preservation and interpretation, the concepts that form the basis of museums, originates from the human inclination to acquire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. The Eu s Hybrid System Analysts and legal experts have debated on whether the EU should be a considered as a supranational legal system or an intergovernmental one. However, the current state of the EU is a mixed system, a hybrid of both supranational and intergovernmental elements. It is an intergovernmental organization that has supranational characteristics which often results in tension between the principle of national sovereignty of member states and supranationality of EU law. The EU was established by international agreements signed by member states therefore once EU legislation is passed, it becomes binding on all member states; rules can be made in the EU which have a direct impact on the Member States and thereby also a direct effect on the citizens of the member states. Most disputes about EU primary and secondary laws are decided by a body with a distinct supranational characteristics, the Court of Justice of the European Union(CJEU). This paper will analyse the role of the CJEU in the EU s hybrid system. It beings by outlining its organization and structure as well as its how its competences has transformed to support a more federalist role. The second section reviews how the competences of the CJEU has propelled it to make comprehensive decisions that has pushed it to become more of federal supreme court rather than an international judicial body. The third section looks at areas of limitations of the CJEU that have attempted reign in its expansive powers. The paper argues that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
