Schools are missing opportunities by failing to teach important online lessons, says education consultant Alan November. These lessons include understanding different global perspectives, how search engines work, and the permanence of online information. Schools should teach empathy, social responsibility, and highlight the dangers of cyberbullying and inappropriate behavior, but not all schools sufficiently cover these important internet safety lessons. Kids often mistakenly believe deleted information can't be found online, so it's important they understand to be careful about what they post.

A school’s duty of care for students to students
Schools have a duty of care to students both for data that comes into them (content regulation) and data about them that is shared (privacy) when students access cyberspace. This raises legal tensions as the internet provides educational opportunities but also liability for schools. To balance these, schools should carefully check websites before allowing educational use, directly teach e-safety, and consider restricting direct student logons in favor of teacher-controlled options like monitored blogs. While issues will always exist, comprehensive e-safety education programs and oversight can help schools fulfill their duty of care for students online.

Online Safety 3.0: From Fear to Empowerment
Larry Magid discusses the evolution of approaches to online safety. Early approaches in the 1990s focused on protecting children from pornography and predators online (Safety 1.0). Later approaches recognized risks from peers, such as cyberbullying (Safety 2.0). Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in 1804 in Salem, Massachusetts. He added a "w" to his last name to distance himself from his ancestor John Hathorne, a judge in the Salem Witch Trials. Hawthorne published several works including "Young Goodman Brown" which takes place in 17th century Salem and follows Goodman Brown who embarks on a journey in the forest where he encounters mysterious figures and loses his faith.

The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions.
