also has reason to be proud of him. The first President
of the Indian Republic passed the B. A. and the M. A.

respectively. He obtained the B. A. degree with honors
in English and History. Then he passed the B. L.
Examination. In 1915, he passed the M. L.
Examination. Later the Calcutta University conferred
on him the honorary degree of D. L. in recognition of
his knowledge of law.
 Dr. Rajendra Prasad was born in the era when British
imperialism was completely surging. Food - Drink, from
wearing clothing that could be felt in almost every
sphere of British imprint. But Rajendra Prasad tradition,
always dhoti - kurta and wore a hat on head. He was a
scholar and a brilliant man. Joint family, the youngest of
the Rajendra Prasad had a pampered childhood. He was
a man of strong will and generous attitude. Rajendra
Prasad Kayastha family belonging to the conservative
wing was short. He admitted himself that he did not eat
food touched by anyone other than Brahmin used. This
behavior, he was released after exposure to Gandhi
 He was a man of sterling
character.
 Glowing patriotism.
 His selfless devotion to
the country's cause.
 His honesty and sincerity.
 His firmness of mind are
worthy of emulation.
He had to court imprisonment several times in the
country's cause. He was a man of plain living and
high thinking. He was a friend of the common people.
We know of his splendid service to the people of
Bihar when a terrible earthquake devastated a great
part of Bihar in 1934. Though he had received
English education, he was a true Indian in manners
and customs and mode of living. So he firmly
supported many time-honoured ideas of this ancient
land of ours.
 As a teacher
Renowned Rajendra Prasadji provided in various
schools as an instructor. After finishing his an M.A degree in
business economics, he also became a lecturer of British at the
renowned Langat Singh Higher education in the area Muzaffarpur
city , state Bihar and also went on to become the major. In
addition, later on he was remaining the school for his lawful
research. However In the year of 1909, while seeking his law
research in city of Kolkata area he greatly proved helpful as
Professor of Economics at city Calcutta Town Higher education.
In addition, in the year of 1915, Shri Prasadji showed up in the
evaluation of Experts in Law, approved the evaluation and won a
silver honor. In addition, He then finished his awaiting Doctoral
in Law degree.
In the famous season of 1916, he
especially signed up with the Great Judge of state
Bihar as well as Orissa state. Moreover, later in 1917
season, he was hired as one of the first associates of
the senate and Distribute of the Patna School.
However, He used to exercise law at local Bhagalpur
area, the popular silk area of state Bihar, country India.
In spite of roaring practice at the Patna High Court, he
decided to become modest political worker.
 When Mohandas Gandhi arrived in Bihar in 1917 to assist the
peasants in Champaran, Prasad soon joined in this activity,
becoming a lifelong disciple of Gandhi. Following Gandhi's
lead, Prasad joined the Indian National Congress and
participated in the non-cooperation campaigns of 1919 and
1921-1922. Forsaking his law practice almost entirely, he
became principal of the National College in Bihar, edited
nationalist papers, and mobilized peasant support for the
movement. During the internal split in the Congress during the
1920s, he was a spokesman for the No-Changer group, which
whole-heartedly supported Gandhi's constructive program,
particularly the production of indigenous cloth (or Khadi) by
hand spinning.
 The arrival of Mahatma Gandhi on the Indian national scene greatly
influenced Dr. Rajendra Prasad. While Gandhiji was in Bihar to
address grievances of local peasants, Dr. Rajendra Prasad met him.
Initially, he was not impressed with Gandhiji's appearance or
conversation. In time, however, he was deeply moved by the
dedication, conviction and courage that Gandhiji displayed. He
decided that he would do everything he could to help, with his skills
as a lawyer and as an enthusiastic volunteer. Gandhiji's influence
greatly altered many of his views. He reduced the number of servants
he had to one, and sought ways to simplify his life. He no longer felt
shame in sweeping the floor, or washing his own utensils, tasks he
had all along assumed others would do for him. After meeting
Gandhiji, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, dedicated himself to the freedom
struggle.
Rajendra Prasad’s contribution to the country is quite an
exhaustive topic as he started off working for the society at a
very young age. It was during 1911, he joined the Indian National
Congress and during one of the meetings of the INC, he met
Mahatma Gandhi during 1916. Rajendra Prasad’s contribution to
Indian Independence started the very minute onwards and there
was no looking back after this meeting. He was so smitten by the
charisma, values, ethics and principles of Gandhiji that during
1920, he resigned his well-paid job as a professional lawyer to
work for India’s Independence struggle. He started the Bihar
Vidyapeeth with the help of his friends wherein the education
system was purely Indian. He started this in order to oppose the
Western education system that was fast growing in the country.
In 1911, Rajendra Prasad joined the Indian National
Congress Party and was subsequently elected to the
AICC. During the Champaran movement, Mahatma
Gandhi asked Rajendra Prasad to visit Champaran
along with the other volunteers and partisans of the
Indian National Congress. Initially Rajendra Prasad
was not impressed with Gandhiji's appearance and
conversation but deeply moved by the dedication,
conviction and courage of Gandhi.
In July 1946, when the Constituent Assembly was
established to frame the Constitution of India, Dr.
Rajendra Prasad was elected its President. And,
eventually he was also elected as the first President of
Republic of India. Unfortunately, on the night of 25
January 1950, a day before the Republic Day of India,
his sister Bhagwati Devi passed away. He set about the
cremation but only after his return from the parade
ground.
• Satyagraha at Champaran (1922).
• India Divided (1946, online).
• Atmakatha (1946), his autobiography written during his 3-
year prison term in Bankipur Jail.
• Mahatma Gandhi and Bihar, Some Reminisences" (1949).
• Bapu ke Kadmon Mein (1954).
• Since Independence (published in 1960).
• Bharatiya Shiksha.
 "Nobody can push me aside."
 "Now I am careful about the kind of roles that I do."
 "More importantly, I also understand my age and am in a
better position to appreciate it."
 "I know I cannot do all the stuff that I did ten years ago."
 "Age is very important in the entertainment industry."
 "Actors cannot go on for over running around the trees."
His slogan 'Grow More Food' is still very
relevant today of Gandhian concept of
self and increase of agricultural industries-
discipline, development of small rural
industries. He imbibed the true spirit of
Gandhian concept of self-discipline,
development of small rural industries
and increase of agricultural industries
for maximum production. His stewardship of the Constituent
Assembly was exemplary. When India became Republic, Shri
Rajendra Prasad became President and continued in the high office
for two consecutive terms.
 First president of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad had his name written as
the pioneers of Indian republic and he was the one who drafted India’s
first constitution. A part from all, among all 12 Presidents till today,
Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the only one who has been elected twice as
the President of India. Being the key campaigner of Gandhi’s
Independence Movement, his dedicated life for India’s progress has
always sounded in his speech. The ever first Indian Republic day
speech by Dr. Rajendra Prasad first addressed the crowd in Hindi and
then in English. He said, “Today, for the first time in our long and
chequered history, we find the whole of this vast land… brought
together under the jurisdiction of one constitution and one union
which takes over responsibility for the welfare of more than 320
million men and women who inhabit it.”
He addressed Republic Day as a ‘day of dedications than of rejoicing’
in one of his republic day speeches. And he proved it while take all
his will power to take the Republic Day salute even when his dearly-
loved sister Bhagwati Devi died on the night of January 25, 1960.
In his special message to the Nation, he said “We must re-dedicate
ourselves on this day to the peaceful but sure realisation of the dream
that had inspired the Father of our Nation (Mahatma Gandhi) and the
other captains and soldiers of our freedom struggle, the dream of
establishing a classless, co-operative, free and happy society.” He
added, “We must remember that this is more a day of dedications
than of rejoicing – dedication to the glorious task of making the
peasants and workers, the toilers and the thinkers fully free,
happy and cultured.”
Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the only President
of India, who will win the presidency twice
in a row.
In office of President Dr. Rajendra Prasad
had traveled to many countries with the
aim of goodwill. He emphasized the need
to maintain peace in the molecular era.
In 1962, after 12 years as President, Dr.
Rajendra Prasad retired, and was
subsequently awarded the Bharat Ratna, the
nation's highest civilian award.
