 Genre- Fictional Crime
Narrative structure
 The narrative structure is linear and uses a lot of
foreshadowing. This was effective as it shows us the
characters before they got to the island and it gives us some
background information about them.
 It also helps us to understand the characters and learn things
abut them which fits into the story when we find out that they
have committed a crime.
Story arc
The
characters
get to the
island.
They have a
dinner party which
reveals they are
all murderers.
They all admit to their
crimes and it shows
flashbacks of what
each character has
done.
They find out
that there is
something
weird going
on in the
house
People start dying in
house and the new
assistant finds
something weird abo
the poem about the
soldiers.
Analysis of scene
The scene I am going to analyse is when they are all sat around the dinner table and
the record starts playing which states that they are all murderers and they have all
committed a crime. This makes the audience feel tense as it shows us medium shots
of each character when we have found out what they have done.
Compare and Contrast
 And Then There Where None is different to Cyber bully as different technical
elements have been used in each drama for example in cyber bully it I all set in
one room and there isn't really many technical elements used apart from close
ups and medium close-ups to show the emotion on Casey's face whereas In And
Then There Where None there are more camera angles and uses of mise en
scene use for example it shows us the location and uses long shots, high angles
and establishing shots so we can become intrigued in the island and to
understand that there is something going on.
 Adding to this both of the dramas use non diegetic music to keep the audience
tense and interested in what is going on.

 Genre- Docu-Drama thriller
Narrative structure
 This one of single drama has a linear narrative structure. It is also
realist. This technique was effective because if it was not told in a
linear narrative we would not understand the story line.
 Also it added to the tension as we did not know what was going to
happen next and it focused on one character.
Story arc
Setting:
Typical
girls
teenage
bedroom.
Low key
lighting,
Casey starts to chat
with someone online
but soon realises
that their identity is
unknown. Realises
they have pictures of
her.
Casey realises
that it was the
hacker who sent
the initial tweet.
Hacker gets Casey to
confess to being a
bully and then asks
her to take her
medication.
Casey realises
that the
language used
links to a tweet
she had seen
earlier.
Analysis of scene
 The scene I am going to analyse is when Casey realises
Compare and Contrast
 Cyber bully is different to This is England ‘90 because firstly Cyber bully is a one
of drama and This is England is a 3 part mini series.
 In Cyber bully there isn't much use of Mise en Scene whereas in This is England
they use costume and setting to show where the characters are from and to show
what sort of class they are which is working class.

character and what is happening at this point in time it is
effective because it feels like we are their with the characters
and it is more realistic.

They gather

that she was
actually the
one who killed
her dad . They then start
arguing and Kelly
walks out the
room whilst they
are arguing
Kelly packs her
bag and leaves
the house.

 Format- Serial drama
Narrative structure
 This film is set in a linear narrative structure which means it is going in
chronological order and we can understand everything without learning about the
characters past.
 The film has no flashbacks. It Is set over two episodes.
Story arc
All the
characters
seem tense
at the
beginning.
The first shot
shows an
establishing
shot of the
Moors which
shows the
importance of
the story line.
Analysis of scene
 This scene shows a boy walking into a red room which creates the mood of
danger. This scene becomes tense for the audience when it shows a 180 degree
rule hen it shows the character getting into an intense confrontation.

This was effective as it shows us the characters before they got to the island and it gives us some background information about them.  It also helps us to understand the characters and learn things abut them which fits into the story when we find out that they have committed a crime.
  • 4. Story arc The characters get to the island. They have a dinner party which reveals they are all murderers. They all admit to their crimes and it shows flashbacks of what each character has done. They find out that there is something weird going on in the house People start dying in house and the new assistant finds something weird abo the poem about the soldiers.

Analysis of scene The scene I am going to analyse is when they are all sat around the dinner table and the record starts playing which states that they are all murderers and they have all committed a crime. This makes the audience feel tense as it shows us medium shots of each character when we have found out what they have done.

Compare and Contrast  And Then There Where None is different to Cyber bully as different technical elements have been used in each drama for example in cyber bully it I all set in one room and there isn't really many technical elements used apart from close ups and medium close-ups to show the emotion on Casey's face whereas In And Then There Where None there are more camera angles and uses of mise en scene use for example it shows us the location and uses long shots, high angles and establishing shots so we can become intrigued in the island and to understand that there is something going on.  Adding to this both of the dramas use non diegetic music to keep the audience tense and interested in what is going on.

  • 9. Narrative structure  This one of single drama has a linear narrative structure. It is also realist. This technique was effective because if it was not told in a linear narrative we would not understand the story line.  Also it added to the tension as we did not know what was going to happen next and it focused on one character.
  • 10. Story arc Setting: Typical girls teenage bedroom. Low key lighting, Casey starts to chat with someone online but soon realises that their identity is unknown. Realises they have pictures of her. Casey realises that it was the hacker who sent the initial tweet. Hacker gets Casey to confess to being a bully and then asks her to take her medication. Casey realises that the language used links to a tweet she had seen earlier.

Compare and Contrast  Cyber bully is different to This is England ‘90 because firstly Cyber bully is a one of drama and This is England is a 3 part mini series.  In Cyber bully there isn't much use of Mise en Scene whereas in This is England they use costume and setting to show where the characters are from and to show what sort of class they are which is working class.

  • 15. Narrative structure  The narrative structure is linear as it shows you each character and what is happening at this point in time it is effective because it feels like we are their with the characters and it is more realistic.
  • 16. Story arc They gather them into the dining room to tell them some serious news. She admits what her dad at done and that she was actually the one who killed her dad . They then start arguing and Kelly walks out the room whilst they are arguing Kelly packs her bag and leaves the house.

  • 21. Narrative structure  This film is set in a linear narrative structure which means it is going in chronological order and we can understand everything without learning about the characters past.  The film has no flashbacks. It Is set over two episodes.
  • 22. Story arc All the characters seem tense at the beginning. The first shot shows an establishing shot of the Moors which shows the importance of the story line.
  • 23. Analysis of scene  This scene shows a boy walking into a red room which creates the mood of danger. This scene becomes tense for the audience when it shows a 180 degree rule hen it shows the character getting into an intense confrontation.
