Irene Quinn had a difficult childhood being in foster care from ages 3 to 9 and being bullied in school, but was later adopted by a lovely couple who helped her pursue her dream of becoming a singer. She was shy but eventually auditioned for and won The X Factor at age 16, which changed her life and led to success she never thought possible thanks to the support of her adoptive parents who helped her become confident in herself.

When I was little I alwayswanted to be a singerbut I have a horrible childhood
where I was in the fostersystem from the age of 3-9, I never really had anyone
to talk to and I kept to myself. Schoolwas even worse as I was bullied and had
no friendsI felt like I was never going to succeed. Butone dayI was adopted bya
lovely couple who tookme in and treat me like I was their own.
On my 10th
birthdaytheybroughtme a karaoke set and I neverstopped using it,
my life was turning around I wentto a new schooland made lotsof friendsand
couldn’tbe happier. WhenI wasaround 16 myparentstold me abouthowI
should audition forX-factorI was still really shy and it tookme a year to actually
get round to auditioning.ButnowthatI’ve won X-factormy life is amazing I
never thoughtI could gethere and it’s all down to my Mum and Dad theyfound
me and helped me become who I am and helped me to be where I am todayand
I am forever thankfulto them.
