Abstract
The present investigation was undertaken to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and safety of Crominex® 3+ (a complex of trivalent chromium, Phyllanthus emblica (Amla) extract and purified Shilajit) in moderately arthritic dogs. Eleven client-owned moderately arthritic dogs in a randomized double-blinded study received placebo or Crominex® 3+ twice daily for a period of 150 days. On a monthly basis, each dog was evaluated for arthritis associated pain (overall pain, pain upon limb manipulation and pain after physical exertion) and a full physical exam (body weight, body temperature and heart rate). At the same time intervals, dogs serum samples were examined for biomarkers of kidney (BUN and creatinine), liver (bilirubin, ALT and AST) and heart and skeletal muscle (CK) functions. Findings of this investigation revealed that dogs receiving Crominex® 3+ (1000 μg chromium, 15 mg Amla extract and 15 mg purified Shilajit per day in two divided doses) exhibited a significant (P< 0.05) reduction in arthritic pain noted as early as after 90 days with a maximum reduction after 150 days of treatment. Pain level remained the same or slightly increased in the dogs receiving placebo. No significant change occurred in physical parameters or serum biomarkers in dogs on placebo or Crominex® 3+, which suggested that Crominex® 3+ was well tolerated by arthritic dogs. In conclusion, Crominex® 3+ significantly (P< 0.05) ameliorated arthritic pain and improved quality of life without causing any untoward effects in moderately arthritic dogs.

Menopause role of isoflavones by dr alka mukherjee nagpur m.s.indiaalka mukherjee
Soy-based isoflavones are modestly effective in relieving menopausal symptoms; supplements providing higher proportions of genistein or increased in S(-)-equol may provide more benefits. Soy food consumption is associated with lower risk of breast and endometrial cancer in observational studies. The efficacy of isoflavones on bone has not been proven, and the clinical picture of whether soy has cardiovascular benefits is still evolving. Preliminary findings on cognitive benefit from isoflavone therapy support a "critical window" hypothesis wherein younger postmenopausal women derive more than older women
Several areas for further research have been identified on soy and midlife women. More clinical studies are needed that compare outcomes among women whose intestinal bacteria have the ability to convert daidzein to equol (equol producers) with those that lack that ability (equol nonproducers) in order to determine if equol producers derive greater benefits from soy supplementation. Larger studies are needed in younger postmenopausal women, and more research is needed to understand the modes of use of soy isoflavone supplements in women. The interrelations of other dietary components on soy isoflavones consumed as a part of diet or by supplement on equol production also require further study, as do potential interactions with prescription and over-the-counter medications. And finally, greater standardization and documentation of clinical trial data of soy are needed.
Soy products can take several weeks or more to reach their maximal benefit. For example, a 2015 review found that soy isoflavones take more than 13 weeks to reach just half of their maximum effect. Traditional hormone therapy, on the other hand, takes about three weeks to show the same benefit.
It’s packed with nutrition
Soy is low in saturated fat and calories. It’s also high in these beneficial nutrients:
• fiber
• protein
• omega-3 fatty acids
• antioxidants
It may help to reduce your risk of heart disease
Eating tofu and other soy-based foods a few times a week can help you cut back on some animal-based protein sources, such as steak or hamburger, that are high in saturated fat and cholesterol.

Discussion
White Willow Bark (Salix alba) Willow bark has been used for thousands of years to support the body’s normal
response to inflammation and to help relieve discomfort.[1-3]
Willow bark is currently approved by the German
Commission E and the European Scientific Cooperative on Phytotherapy (ESCOP) for these purposes. Willow
bark is also recognized in the United States for its effectiveness in the relief of joint discomfort.[1]
Willow bark
contains glycosides, salicylates, flavonoids, tannins, aromatic compounds, and acids. A 2007 systemic review
of the literature discussing the effect of salicin (one of the salicylates found in white willow bark) on the body’s
normal response to inflammation found moderate evidence to support a short-term cytokine-balancing effect
when daily doses were standardized to 120-240 mg salicin. Dr. Q’s PainEx provides a standardized 120 mg
dose of salicin per serving.*[4]
Various randomized, placebo-controlled studies suggest that willow bark produces positive effects on joint
discomfort that are sometimes similar to those of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid); the usual dose of salicin is 240
mg per day.[5]
Pharmacokinetic evaluations reveal that salicylic acid is the major metabolite of salicin, though
other components of willow bark are believed to have analgesic effects as well.*[6]
5•Loxin®
, a standardized Boswellia serrata extract enriched to 30% 3-O-acetyl-11-keto-ß-boswellic acid (AKBA),
is ten times more concentrated than ordinary B serrata. Boswellia serrata is an ayurvedic herb whose principle
constituents—boswellic acid and alpha-boswellic acid—may help maintain healthy leukotriene metabolism
by reducing the activity of the enzyme 5-lipoxygenase.[7]
5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) catalyzes the synthesis of
proinflammatory leukotrienes.*
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial assessing the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of Boswellia
extract produced statistically significant and clinically relevant decreases in knee discomfort, increases in knee
flexion, and increases in walking distance.[8]
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study specifically
designed with 5•Loxin resulted in statistically significant improvements in “pain scores and physical function”
as well as a significant reduction in matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) in synovial fluid.[9]
MMP represents a class
of enzymes that selectively hydrolyze peptide bonds and degrade structural proteins; they play a crucial role in
the degradation of joint tissues. 5•Loxin shows significant inhibition against several MMPs. It helps prevent the
formation of human recombinant TNF-α inducible MMPs, which further facilitates the maintenance of healthy
cartilage and cell-cycle regulation.*[10,11]
BerryVin™
(40 mg) contains a blend of blueberries, strawberries, escobillo, and cranberries, along with
grape and pomegranate extracts. This bioflavonoid-rich berry powder provides polyphenols, anthocyanins,
ellagic acid, and an antioxidant capacity of 4000 TE/g to fight free radicals. It may also provide substantial
antioxidant support for soft tissues. Bioflavonoids are thought to act synergistically to inhibit cyclooxygenases,
lipoxygenases, and phospholipases, ultimately supporting the body’s normal response to inflammation.*[12,13]

Clinical Applications
Dr. Q’s PainEx is formulated to support the body’s normal response to inflammation and provide relief
for joint discomfort. 5-LOXIN®
, a patented Boswellia extract yielding concentrated 3-O-acetyl-11-keto-ß-
boswellic acid (AKBA), is found to inhibit the 5-lipoxygenase enzyme. Salicin from white willow bark is a
natural inhibitor of both the COX-2 and 5-lipoxygenase enzymes. Bioflavonoid-rich BerryVin™
provides
additional support for cytokine balance and antioxidant activity.*
