As the speed of technology continues to accelerate automation in the manufacturing world, the inevitable question of whether or not the “human touch” will become obsolete is top of mind for workers. The fear that robots and smart technologies will take everyone's jobs is prevalent, but not necessarily true. AR has the power to be a job creator, not a job eliminator. Its ability to make anyone an instant expert can in fact increase job security by quickly helping workers become more proficient in tasks. Learn about real-world use cases where AR is making people better, and safer, at their jobs, and explore why enterprises who create a workplace that’s augmented, not automated, will be the leaders of tomorrow.

Augmented Reality - General conclusions and recommendationsbanholzer76
Augmented realities as an emerging technology offer new opportunities due to several
shifting external conditions or changing forms of social interaction. In order to investigate
possible impacts, trends and relationships the employed method is based on an
environmental scanning and on several semi-structured interviews, conducted with several
technology experts, researchers and futurologists. The process aims to obtain valuable
information on competitors, markets, customers and suppliers as well as on macroeconomic
factors, such as social, economic, technological and political factors.
The main research findings afforded that AR can be seen as a new communication medium
or tool in an early stage level due to several major technical and social challenges and that it
goes along with the evolving information technology. These days one of the most promising
devices for AR applications is the mobile phone, which could open the floodgates for the
mass implementation of AR. With regard to the evolving ubiquity of information and
interactivity through smart things and sensors, AR will provide customized-, perceptional-,
and location-based information. Life and task enhancing services and applications are
assigned big potential in future solutions, which could occur in many areas and industries.
Due to an economical shift towards free business models, often financed by the
advertisement industry, the future development of AR will certainly be affected.

Charlie Fink (XR Consultant, Forbes): Convergence
This is a historic moment. We are on the cusp of a new generation of mobile computing. Latency-free 5G broadband networks, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies will converge in the next five years to change the world as we know it. Our devices will change dramatically and change us in ways no one can fully predict. Convergence tells the story of Augmented Reality, a new technology that’s seeping into every smartphone and every workplace. But the smartphone is just the beginning. We will soon wonder how we put up with its miserable form for so long. In this presentation of key ideas from his new book, author and Forbes columnist Charlie Fink will discuss how the convergence will lead to head-worn, interoperable AR/VR glasses and, ultimately, to wearable, invisible, computing. The book uses a kind of AR called "marker AR," to allow readers to use their smartphone to bring pages to life in surprising and entertaining ways to illustrate how the world, and everyone it, will be painted with data. More than a book about technology, this is about an evolutionary change in humankind.

AWE USA 2019: AR Cloud: Promises and pitfalls
Jason Fox | Microsoft
Jan-Erik Vinje | Open AR Cloud
In this talk Jan-Erik will present his vision of how AR Cloud tecnology can enable a digital upgrade of our shared physical reality and how that holds the promise of enhansing every aspect of our digital lives you can imagine and beyond. The AR industry needs this technology to be able to realize what futurist and sci-fi authors have been envisioning for the last few decades and what the speaker himself has been dreaming of since his teenage years. On the flip side of the great potential that AR Cloud holds for good, there is also the real risk of falling into "Black Mirror" scenarios. If we are careless about this technology things might descend towards a digital prison rather than a digital upgrade. Already we see how Shenzhen, China is using exponential technology to monitor and track every person everywhere - the invasiveness of this practice will become much worse if or when the authorities deploy AR-Cloud technology. Towards the end of his talk, Jan-Erik will also say a few words about how Open AR Cloud is bringing together people from all over the world to build an open and interoperable spatial computing ecosystem for the benefit of all. By bringing together the best minds we have a fighting chance to avoid the pitfalls and usher in a great new era!

Preparing your team for a new XR platform; 7 key take-aways
Hans Wernke | Inhance Digital
Rodrick Lekey | Inhance Digital
The launch of a new XR platform often creates a great deal of excitement among institutional users and developers alike. After all, products such as Oculus, HoloLens and Magic Leap help us significantly improve the way we tell stories, train employees and address persistent maintenance challenges. However, for developers, each product launch presents its own unique challenges. The team has to familiarize itself with a new SDK, a new device and often a completely different way of structuring content. In this session, Rodrick Lekey and Hans Wernke, of Inhance Digital, an LA-based interactive marketing agency with 21+ years of experience, will share the first-hand perspective of such a team of developers. What did we learn? What challenges did we experience? What would we do differently the next time around?

Already we see how Shenzhen, China is using exponential technology to monitor and track every person everywhere - the invasiveness of this practice will become much worse if or when the authorities deploy AR-Cloud technology. Towards the end of his talk, Jan-Erik will also say a few words about how Open AR Cloud is bringing together people from all over the world to build an open and interoperable spatial computing ecosystem for the benefit of all. By bringing together the best minds we have a fighting chance to avoid the pitfalls and usher in a great new era!

Valentin Heun (PTC): One Reality - A 3rd generation AR User Interface
Many of our technological innovations seem to expand the computational abilities without the human in the loop. Augmented Reality is one of the view technologies that promises technological advances that enable us humans a better connection with the ubiquitous technology around us. We are not there yet to make use of such a user interface. We currently have individual islands of interactivity via AR. This conference may have many spatial demos as well, however, a single ubiquitous layer that penetrates all screens, surfaces, machines, and environments are not available. This is what the PTC Reality Lab researches. The core of this research is the ability to use AR in a scalable distributed platform to bridge among technological domains to allow the weaving of multiple technologies into one user experience. The resulting user experience is called One Reality. The goal for One Reality is to provide one seamless, ubiquitous flow of user experience for all technologies that touch the user’s decision making. This talk will iterate on the different stages of Augmented Reality User Interfaces and identifies One Reality as the 3rd stage in the evolution of AR user interfaces. This visionary talk aims to inspire the audience to think beyond the known applications for Augmented Reality.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

16. Information Production Labor Management Services
• On-site management: it is
hard to surveil
construction operation
with too many blind spots
• Staff management:
decentralized,
complicated working
environment, and it is
hard to record and surveil
construction operation
• Information management:
lack of the combination of
the back-stage historical
data and the real-time
work on the front site, the
non-realtime working data
on the first scene
• The combination of the
first scene and the back-
stage supporting system
• The exhibition modes of
the industrial products are
too simple; the creative
exhibition modes according
to visitors with different
backgrounds should be
explicit, instant, flexible,
and fantastic
• The sales and technology
brochures are too simple
(the stereoscopic
communication of all-round
sound, light, and electricity)
• The promotion of products
is hard to be visualized and
close to people
• Data are hard to get in
on-site operation (first-
hand construction
materials)
• The information-
collecting method of
electronic MIS system is
inefficient (afterwards
entry)
• The data system is hard
to interact in real time on
site (without efficient
information to support)
• In multi-task processing,
unsynchronized
information causes low
efficiency
• The technology and
maintenance staff are limited
(in quantity, region, etc.)
• The capacities of the
technology and maintenance
staff are unbalanced (in the
master of core technologies
and business experiences)
• The different levels of the
professionalization of the
technology and maintenance
staff (each one has his
strong points, specializing in
different aspects) result in
the uneven cost-efficiency
• The passing of the
experience of the technology
and maintenance staff is
insufficient
• The visualization of
working instruction is
poor
• The operation of
working instruction is
inconvenient
• The unified
management of on-site
working leaders is hard
• The information of the
on-site workers is not
synchronized
• For difficulties and
problems, the real-time
surveillance and
analysis capacities in
production process are
weak

• AR provides a new way, combining the physical machine equipment with the information in the forms of model, graph and text, to overturn the status quo that the
information and the actual operation come apart and could not correspond exactly;
• AR system could push training to the production line, and make the working scenario systematized, digitalized, and informationized, facilitating staff management
and data management;
• Augmentation of the current environment/system is far better than replace, and AR is playing a role in augmenting the current intelligent manufacturing system to
become one of the core technologies in Made in China 2025.

Multi-type terminal support
“AR Online Car Exhibition” supported by HISCENE has achieved the exposure of 0.414 billion in total in five
days, with the participants up to 10.80 million, ten times that of a traditional car exhibition. HISCENE has also
provided AR marketing and exhibition services to Vatti, Kohler, SAIC Motor, and other enterprises, and has all
achieved good results.
Industry marketing could also be creative.
Exhibition and Marketing
44. Offline Activity
Plan
In the mobile internet era, the only standard of the advertisement marketing in any industry
has been attracting people’s attention and arousing their purchasing desires. The products
and services like the world smallest SDK, HiAR plug-in, editor, AR browser, etc. enable your
advertisement advertising the “language” with the sense of the times instead of the high-
profile self-entertainment.
Professional and creative enterprise exhibition hall is definitely icing on the cake for branding
and sales of enterprises. And HISCENE’s AR sandbox, interactive screen, AR marketing and
other services enriches your exhibition hall more than the façade of your company.
In a new product release conference, AR could not only promote activity ideas, but also
make the product endorse itself, helping the customers understand the functions and
advantages of the professional equipment easily just as they understand those of FMCG,
finally to achieve the goal of the new product “blooming” the market.
In exhibitions and other activities, cold professional industry equipment keeps people away
naturally, while with the multi-terminal presentation of AR glasses, interactive screen, iPAD,
cellphones, etc., the “AR exhibition” with various interaction methods is definitely a brilliant
attractor of audience, which increases the commercial conversion rate of offline activities.
AR instructions and AR related products permeate your marketing into every link of
after-sales services. That is, marketing goes wherever products go.
