2. Mixmag double page spread. The DPS is mainly image led, intercut with single columns of text, black on white, then reversed white on black. The images used portray the D.J’s as young and edgy, I feel this ties in with the style of the magazine as it is aimed at teens and 20 something readers. The main D.J is at the centre of the spread, and is a large image, the other’s are in smaller images. This reinforces the fact that he is the most important member. The headline is a take on where the group originated from (Detroit) and is in three contrasting, bright colours, fourth and Detroit both stand out The journalist introduced the group by introducing the style of music they perform, and a brief history on the music, before giving a history on the boys and how they got where they are today . The main text is in two columns, indented with a Drop Cap, in a completely different font to the rest of the text. This is a common convention of magazine double page spreads. Just above this main piece of text are headshots of the members of the band. The stand firsts is used to introduce the band.

Mixmag article It has two large images spread across both pages, showing the group in performance, and relaxing, in the second image the lead singer in in the centre of the page, and they have used image, new adjustment layer, and effects on his mouth to add a bright light effect, this also reinforces him as the lead member. The performance element of the photo would appeal to the target audience who enjoy clubbing and attending gigs. 4. This DPS has three columns of text on the left hand page, and then a full length image on the right hand side. I think this is a very basic but effective way of laying out the information. There is also one smaller picture on the bottom of the page, far left. The photos use complementary colours of yellow/orange and blue/purple. These colours work well together. There is a pull quote from the interview that is in a large, bold, font that stands out from the page because it is underlined The three columns of text are black on white, and at the beginning of the next paragraph a ‘drop cap’ is used that is larger and in a different font type to the rest of the text. The main image has been changed using image, adjustments, brightness/contrast in photoshop, also the original lighting in the picture is only on half her face, this makes some parts of the image stand out. The picture is very dark, this is in contrast to the left hand page which is very light and bright.
