2. NME is generally for the indie market, due to the image from the front cover. On the
front cover you are able to see different types of genres. The target audience is
generally people who are into indie, as well as Hip Hop, Rock etc... In the double page
spread, you are able to see that the article is about Girls Aloud, a pop group. They are
dressed in rock clothes, suggesting they are targeting the rock genre.

3. The type of language which is used in this article, is both informal and colloquial. The
language is also direct, ‘And what was indie rock while this was going on?’ as this is
directly speaking to you (the readers).

4. The colour scheme of the double page spread is red, black and white. This has carried
on from the front cover. The front cover has the colour scheme of these colours
which makes the magazine look more interesting. As well as having the colour
scheme in the double page spread, it make the magazine more professional, due to
fact that they have kept the colours the same. There is a lot of white and black used
in this double page spread. The black is extremely bold, therefore targeting the rock
audience. In the background, the colour white is used, as this connects with black.
This colour scheme is also used further more in the magazine which makes the
magazine have a consistent colour scheme for these type of interviews.

5. The style of text on the article title, is sans serif font, so then it is readable and will
stand out. It is similar to other headings used in the magazine, which suggests that
NME, is keeping up with their appearances. Also the style of text for the main body
text is also sans serif font, so then it will be easy to read for the audience, reading this
magazine.

6. One A4 page on the left is taken up by a half image of Girls Aloud, with the article
title ‘Sound of The Underground’ underneath it. Underneath the article title, it is
taken up of three images of artists.
On the right, there is mainly text, with a picture of ‘Xenomania’ who create songs for
the band, as well as the image of Nelly Furtado and Timberland. The body text is
mainly kept to a minimum. There is also a side bar on the right, to alert readers about
‘Top of the Pop.’

suggest that it would be direct, as the magazine is directly talking to the readers.

presented as a rock group, due to the make-up, hair and their clothing. The article is
basically about the how Girls Aloud became popular and how they are a famous
group with hit songs, made by Xenomania.

magazine is based on different genres. Also, the colour scheme of the front cover is
carried onto the double page spread. The colour scheme of Red, Black and White are
consistent throughout.

the questions as well as able to see how Girls Aloud became famous, due to
Xenomania creating songs for them.

11. The eye flow of the double page spread, starts from the right to the left and back to
the right. The eye flow is like this, because when you read a magazine, you are more
likely to turn the page and look at the right hand side of the magazine and then focus
on the left hand side of the double page spread. This then makes your eye flow back
to the right where the main text is.

12. The Body text, is the main text of the article. The Drop Cap is the first letter of the
word which is mentioned in the body text. The white space is generally around the
body text. The slug is placed on the right top so then readers are able to see what the
page is about without having to read the whole article. The side bar is placed on the
right, which tells us about Xenomania, and how they began famous. The pull quote is
placed in the middle of the body text, so then it stands out than the rest of the text,
which make the readers more interested about it. The captions are placed on each
picture, saying who it is, e.g.. Nelly Furtado is on the left, ‘Promiscuous man-eating
songbird Nelly Furtado.’ The article title, is on the left, and is big so then it stands out.
The leading text is also placed underneath, so then readers are able to see what the
article is about.
