Domiciliary Care Induction
Course Description:
Skills for Care is the strategic development body for Adult Social Care workers in England and is
responsible for setting the standards - the Common Induction Standards (CIS) - for people entering
Domiciliary adult social care.
CIS were developed to meet the requirements of the General Social Care Council Code of Practice.
Since October 2006 they have formed the national minimum standard requirements, specified by the
Care Quality Commission (CQC), for all new care staff.
CIS form the basis for domiciliary care staff registration throughout England and are required to be
met within the 12-week induction period that employers must provide for all new care staff.
CIS are linked to Diplomas (QCF) Health and Social Care Study, and provide preparatory training for
entry into those programmes.
CIS will:
• Provide a structured start for new care staff
• Enable care workers to provide high quality care and support
• Provide recognition for care workers in their chosen vocation
• Prepare care workers for entry into Diplomas (QCF) Health and Social Care Study.
You must provide all new care staff with a 12-week induction period, incorporating Common Induction
Training in order to meet the national minimum standard requirements for care staff specified by CQC.

Course Duration:
12hrs

Assessment:
The learners will be expected to take part in group work as well as question and answer sessions to
enhance their learning experience and the trainer will carry out an on-going assessment during the
course

Certification:
All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance

Location:
The course can be delivered at locations to suit the client or at one of our training venues
