• In this century access to internet is absolutely
fundamental to life in developed countries.
• Speedy internet connection gives us access to news,
information, public services, families and friends etc..
• Internet is very essential thing right now, but good
bandwidth connection are not enough.
• We use wi-fi to use the internet for different purposes, so
wi-fi is very essential in our daily life.
• Security
• Range
• Bandwidth
• Health
• Li-Fi (Light Fidelity) is a bidirectional wireless system that transmits
data via LED or infrared light.
• Unlike Wi-Fi, which uses radio frequency, Li-Fi technology only
needs a light source with a chip to transmit an internet signal
through light waves.
• This is an extraordinary advance over today's wireless networks. Li-
Fi multiplies the speed and bandwidth of wi-fi, 3G and 4G.
• Li-Fi is a wireless technology as it uses Visible Light
Communication or infrared or even near ultraviolet spectrum.
• This technology carries the information by modulating light signals
around 400-700 nanometers.
• To receive the incoming data at the receiver side we require
the Li-Fi Dongle which consists of a Photo Receiver as well as
a higher transmitter.
• Now this Infrared Transmitter can be used to transmit the
uplink data back with LED source.
• Li-fi Dongle consists of an access point that connects to any
LED light that helps to create a Li-Fi network.
• Using any USB enabled mobile devices, we can able to
operate the dongle which has the size of business card.
• It uses Visible Light Spectrum instead of radio frequencies to
enable high-speed wireless data communication and Internet
access

• Hacking is negligible
• Quicker Data Transmission than Wi-Fi:
• An essential purpose of Li-Fi innovation is that it has a quicker information transmission rate
than Wi-Fi.
• Noticeable light range has a transmission capacity that is multiple times bigger than whole radio
wave and microwave range.
• Wi-Fi networks send information at around 20 megabits for each second, But Li-Fi send the
information at around 224 Gigabits per Second.
• Simple and Inexpensive to Deploy :
• Li-Fi innovation focus on the utilization of LED lights.
• This implies that a Li-Fi organization can be incorporated effectively with existing LED lighting
frameworks.
• Basically, any place there is a light source, there can be access to the Internet.
• Investigators foresee that Li-Fi organization would be multiple times less expensive than Wi-Fi.
• Security Due to the Limitations of Light:
• The signs transmitted by a Li-Fi item and information it communicates stay limited to a shut
territory.
• This implies that Li-Fi innovation offers an additional layer of security than Wi-Fi.
• Safe From Electromagnetic Intervention
• Wi-Fi uses radio frequency technology in order to provide network connectivity whereas Li-Fi
uses the Visible Light Spectrum.
 Li-Fi doesn’t work in the dark .
 Li-Fi has a big drawback compared to Wi-Fi, unlike Wi-F we
cannot move to other rooms unless there are wired bulbs too.
 Light can’t pass through the objects.
 Interference from external sources like sun light, normal bulbs,
and opaque materials in the path of transmission will course
interruption in the communication.
 High installation cost of the VLC systems.
 A major challenge facing Li-Fi is how the receiving device will
transmit back to transmitter.

• Li-Fi and Augmented Reality (AR)
• Li-Fi and underwater applications
• With the ever-growing demand for connectivity, Li-Fi
would be able to combine illumination and wireless data
transmission to accelerate the relay of data across the
globe.
• It can be considered as incredible companion of wi-fi
technology.
• In future, Li-Fi base Integrated Chips will be integrated
with mobile and LED lightning to access high-speed
internet
• Overcomes the limitations of radio spectrum.
• The possibilities are numerous and can be explored further.
• If this technology can be put into practical use, every bulb can be used
something like a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• we will proceed toward the cleaner, greener, safer and brighter future.
• This may solve issues such as the shortage of radio-frequency bandwidth.
• Allows internet where traditional radio based wireless isn’t allowed such as
aircraft or hospitals
• LI-FI is enabled by advance digital transmission technologies
