I would concentrate on
these 3 technical skills
1. sql
It’s a database language – there is a great course here that will teach you
loads about Analytics and let you practice SQL
2. R Statistics
This is a programme for doing more statistical analysis. This programme is
free and there are some great online resources for learning it.
3. Data Visualisation
Qlikview and Tableau both have free trials. Download them – learn them
employers will love you for it.

Coaching skills
The job of an analyst is
more than a data
collector
You must
understand as
much as possible
about your sport
– not just be an
armchair fan
being a good
analyst is
about
communication
You have to speak to
coaches in their
language not yours
You have to speak to

The most important
thing…..
Do something
Start a blog
Do some research
Visualise data
Prove not only that you
have the desire
But that you have tried,
that you are committed
