SCHOOL OF 2020
Examine the technologies that
are in use in school right now
          Hardware Software
 Router  Microsoft Office
 Laptops  Open Office

 Projectors  Windows Vista/XP System
 Smart boards
 Mobile phones

Think about technology throughout
schools: in the classroom for
teaching, but also in other areas
of schools too

Consider whether these technologies will continue
being used in schools, or whether they will be
removed and forgotten about.
 It is possible that desktops will become obsolete in the future, as laptops
are much more effective and cost almost the same. Laptops are more
practical as thy do the same function of a normal desktop, but also have
the availability to carry them around and use them in the given
   environment or right location.
 Projectors are very useful during classes, as the teacher can show the
students a large variety of things, so they can learn in a much practical
way, it also saves a large amount of time for the teacher (not copying
from his/her notes to the board) Therefore they may be around in the
future and may implemented to every class.
 Routers are essential to access the internet wirelessly, cables can tether
you a certain limited location. But cables also provide a faster and more
reliable connection, as there is no wandering of looking for accessible
SSID. So routers will be around in the future, but cables as well.
Consider whether these technologies
will continue being used in
schools, or whether they will be
removed and forgotten about. (cont.)
 Smart boards is a relatively new technology implemented in the
school, so they will not be forgotten, as teacher can access a software
document and modifier it during the lesson in a simple and efficient way
showing the class a variety of things (this includes a projector)
 Mobile phones are currently banned in the school, by which I do not
understand at 100% way. But in the future (near) mobile phones will be
able to do much more than just be phones, but access the internet and
  more (like iphone for example).
Try to think of the changes that have occurred
since you started school: will these trends
continue? Maybe there will be new technologies
developed that replace current technologies?
 Use of Laptops in school has increased rampantly throughout my
time in school. This is mainly due to the technology of laptops has
increased in the sense that the operating systems and the
memory and processing specifications have increased their level
of technology. This has also allowed for laptops to be come more
portable as well as allowing them to be more accessible to the
general population as the cost has gone down. Also, this has
allowed for students to use them more. The increase of Wi-Fi
technology has allowed these laptops to be able to access the
world wide web from any where there is a wireless access point.
Try to think of the changes that have occurred
since you started school: will these trends
continue? Maybe there will be new technologies
developed that replace current technologies?
 Smart board have gradually replaced normal bored because of
their many capabilities which makes them much more useful than
normal white boards. This will only increase in user as more
capabilities are discovered as they are used more often. They offer
the capability to save work done on the board as well as interact
with the files such as pictures and ppp.
 Routers have replaces the use of cables as they now allow internet
access wirelessly. Also it will increase as laptops gradually replace
desktops computers as a main research tool.
 USB technology has increased the portability o data. Before CD
and Floppy's were use to save the files. Now this trend will only
increase a these completely replace CDs
Consider how the different stakeholders might make
use of these technologies: how will students and
teachers work; how will lessons be delivered?
 Students and teachers will use the laptop much more than now, because of
their advantages. Light weight, high memory capacity, HD screens, quick
note taking, etc. Meaning that the students have a faster and maybe clearer
understanding of the subject, and the teacher can vary their methods of
their classes, making them maybe less boring.
 Teachers will have, once more, a variety of methods in lesson, making it
much more interesting, and also more practical, as they can access the
information and change it during the class, using the smart board.
 Routers will be used by both, teachers and students as the laptops access
the internet by a wireless method (although they can it by wire as well).
 USBs will be used be used by both, and all stakeholders, because they are
much more practical than CD’s, as they are smaller and more reliable.
