This document outlines a district mental health program presented by Degama Arati. It discusses the components of the program which include training manpower, public education to increase awareness and reduce stigma, and outpatient and inpatient services for early detection and treatment. A district mental health team would be comprised of professionals like psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other support staff. The team would work to implement training for primary healthcare personnel, conduct community outreach, and provide referrals and treatment for mental illnesses. Nurses would play a key role in providing patient care, education, and assisting psychiatrists with research and monitoring of mental healthcare delivery at district and primary health center levels.
