The document analyzes discussion patterns in MOOCs on the FutureLearn platform to identify characteristics of conversations and different groups of social learners. Through cluster analysis, the researchers identified 7 groups of social learners with distinct commenting behaviors, including loners, repliers, initiators who do not reply to others, active social learners, and reluctant active social learners. The study aims to better understand how learners engage in discussions and the role of social learning in MOOCs.
Identifying Conversations and Social Learners in FutureLearnShi Min CHUA
The document analyzes discussion data from a MOOC on FutureLearn to identify different types of social learners and characterize online conversations. It categorizes comments into 5 types: initiating posts, lone posts, replies, responses, and further replies. Two research questions are examined: 1) What are the characteristics of conversations? and 2) Are there distinct groups of social learners? Seven social learner groups are identified based on commenting behaviors: loners, active social learners, initiators, initiators who respond, interlocutors, social learners without turn-taking, and reluctant active social learners. The findings provide insight into how learners engage in discussions and achieve conversation goals in a MOOC platform.

The document discusses why an image of Runa was chosen for the magazine contents page and cover. For the contents page, the image depicted her holding a microphone, suggesting music, and wearing formal clothes suited for R&B rather than hip hop. For the cover, the image would be easier to edit with Photoshop to have a white background and showed her looking at the camera to connect with audiences, as is conventional for covers. It was also used because accessories were clearly visible, indicating the music genre.
Of course, what you say is key to the success of your presentation. However, equally critical is what the audience sees, including your body language and facial expressions, and what they hear, including tone and volume of your voice. These and other physical aspects of a presentation – collectively known as delivery – significantly influence audience’s energy and trust for your content, and, therefore, the success of the presentation.

It recommends actively participating in 3-5 focused Groups 2-3 times per week by engaging in discussions and starting your own discussions. For Answers, it suggests answering questions, reading other answers, and asking your own questions in relevant categories. Great Answers provide supporting details like personal stories, facts, or links while avoiding self-promotion. Great questions are clear, provide community value, and are concise. Following etiquette like thanking responders and selecting Best Answers can help you make new connections. Successful participation can earn you points and recognition as a "Wise One" or "Networker."
1) The document provides guidance for a 6th grade homeroom module titled "Me For My Community". It includes introductory information, learning objectives, materials needed, and outlines six interactive activities for students to complete.
2) The activities guide students to identify problems in their family and community, develop possible solutions to address the problems, learn steps to effectively solve problems, apply the problem-solving process to a specific issue, and reflect on what they learned.
3) Completing the activities is meant to help students recognize their role in helping their community and families, consider how to utilize their skills and resources, and evaluate how to solve issues constructively.
The document discusses person-centered planning and support. It emphasizes focusing on what matters to the person, their aspirations, and strengths rather than problems or needs. Motivational interviewing techniques are described to understand the person's perspective and motivate change, such as listening empathetically and supporting empowerment. Questions are provided to facilitate conversations about what is important to the person, their relationships, activities, goals and preferred style of receiving information and making decisions. The importance of community inclusion and belonging is highlighted.

Corpus Assisted Discourse Analysis of URL posting in MOOC discussion for Onli...Shi Min CHUA
This presentation showcases how a corpus analysis can reveal both the general pattern and specific case of users' URL posting behaviour in online discussions for learning
Why did nobody reply to my post in MOOCs?Shi Min CHUA
The document analyzes the linguistic differences between initiating posts and lone posts in MOOC discussions. It finds that initiating posts contain more stance markers expressing uncertainty like hedges and modals, while lone posts contain more stance markers expressing certainty. Initiating posts also include more emotional expressions and references to other users through pronouns like "anybody". The analysis suggests initiating posts aim to expand the dialogic space by welcoming alternative views, while lone posts tend to contract dialogic space by expressing definitive views. Overall, the linguistic analysis provides insights into how posts that attract responses differ in their expression of stance from posts that receive no responses.
Facilitators use linguistic resources to promote dialogic learning in MOOC discussions. Their language focuses discussions through interactivity, stance expression, and open-ended questions. Facilitators create a positive space for learning through intertextuality, focusing discussions while opening up to other voices and arguments. Their language aims to expand conversations and consideration of multiple perspectives.
Facilitating Strategies in MOOC discussionShi Min CHUA
This document discusses linguistic resources that can facilitate online discussions in MOOCs. It analyzes the discussion forums of 13 MOOCs with over 23,000 posts from learners and nearly 18,000 from facilitators. Keywords, lexical bundles, and grammatical constructions were identified that facilitators used to promote an interactive, positive learning space. Facilitators employed interactivity markers, stance expressions like hedges and modals, questions, and if-conditionals to explore multiple perspectives and arguments in a way that expanded the conversational and mental space for learners. The linguistic analysis provides insight into effective facilitation strategies for MOOC discussions.
Proposing Corpus NLP approach to MOOC DiscussionShi Min CHUA
This document summarizes previous research on categorizing discussion posts in MOOCs and proposes analyzing the linguistic resources used in MOOC discussions. It presents initial keyword analysis comparing the language of facilitators versus learners and different types of learner posts. The document outlines linguistic resources that could be analyzed such as pronouns, hedging, stance, and discourse organizers. Initial findings on the linguistic resources used by facilitators are presented. The document proposes using natural language processing techniques like part-of-speech and semantic tagging to further examine characteristics of posts and turn-taking patterns by analyzing the collocation of linguistic features between posts and replies.

ViewShift: Hassle-free Dynamic Policy Enforcement for Every Data LakeWalaa Eldin Moustafa
Dynamic policy enforcement is becoming an increasingly important topic in today’s world where data privacy and compliance is a top priority for companies, individuals, and regulators alike. In these slides, we discuss how LinkedIn implements a powerful dynamic policy enforcement engine, called ViewShift, and integrates it within its data lake. We show the query engine architecture and how catalog implementations can automatically route table resolutions to compliance-enforcing SQL views. Such views have a set of very interesting properties: (1) They are auto-generated from declarative data annotations. (2) They respect user-level consent and preferences (3) They are context-aware, encoding a different set of transformations for different use cases (4) They are portable; while the SQL logic is only implemented in one SQL dialect, it is accessible in all engines.

i think , inequalities in personal finance always the problem for decades
i have agreed with Dr Wilkinson , nice research
good to refresh cycle of income
i am interested to know what is ongoing finance problems and how to deal with them
i paid , tax , unemployment insurance and pension from my salaries, how it would effect me if i will no longer live before i would able to use them .
The map is good guide to know wealth and good to know that GDP is flow not wealth
in my country Finland everyone has right of minimum level income whatever he/she work or not
i agreed x3
i am single and not thinking to buy a house as far as i am single but for my family kinds and wife i prefer to buy a own house to provide them better environment and
security .i myself grow up in my parents home and they owned that house since i were born. as compare to rent or mortgage i myself prefer to mortgage a house it is kind a
saving and also inflation adjusted itself in fact usually , we can profit in the end mortgage a house in term of money.
according to my observation after seen the chat above in the country there is no social security or housing allowance support available people prefer to buy own house and
other countries where housing allowance support available people prefer to rent a house.
I have agreed with your opinion
