Leaders fail to act accordingly based off theories that are examined in detail explaining the fall of a organization.
Background
Leadership failures can be attributed to theories based off emergence or nature of the particular type or style of leadership. Some theories that are examined are the traditional leadership theory, behavior and leadership styles theory, contingency and situational theory, transactional and transformational theory, comparison of charismatic and transformational leadership and finally the new leadership which represents the servant, spiritual, authentic and ethical style of leadership (
Swanson, C. R., Territo, L., and Taylor, R. W., 2012)
. Many reasons are listed why leaders fail but an effective leader should be developing and effective organization.
Reasons Why Leaders Fail
A leader fails to act because of five different reasons (Haller, C.L., 2010). The first is the interpersonal skills of a leader. If the leader has a poor skill in interpersonal then the leader has lost the ability to inspire their people. Poor communication fails underneath poor interpersonal skills. A well-rounded leader gives feedback to their employees, which correlates a element that produces a high functioning organization. Sometimes leaders fear the confrontation. A good example of side stepping this would be learning the art of verbal judo. The technique allows a employer to hear and understand the feelings but also takes into consideration the feelings of this a particular individual. Part of being a leader is making risk decisions on short notice that may be difficult but may involve address issues with others that closely work around you.
The second reason leaders fail is the inability to adapt and change. Part of the society we now live in requires us to adapt and overcome changes in the world. A good leader must be able to see the good in anything and promote change from within. New situations arise on daily basis and strategies must be formed accordingly in order to embrace the change. The one thing a good leader can count on is constant change in the workplace. I believe this to be especially true in law enforcement. The third reason leaders fail to act is because leaders focus more on self -promotion focusing on being important or powerful. The perception in the workplace is that this type of action is a betrayal of trust and a failure of integrity. The objective focus in this particular leader makes the performance not good enough to succeed but wants a celebrity status in return. ABSTRACT: This study aimed to investigate the Impact of Big Five personality traits of subordinates in their assessment of the Leadership Style Followed by their managers in the public and private universities in Damascus. The sample consisted of 400 workers at the universities' administrative system and two scales were used in this study; (Costa & McCrae, 1997) scale to measure the personality traits of subordinates and (Bass & Avolio, 1995) scale to measure the Followed Leadership Style. The study found significant impact of subordinates' personality (Openness to Experience and Extraversion) in transformational leadership style and there is a significant impact of subordinates' personality (Agreeableness and Conscientiousness) in Transactional leadership style.

To understand leadership and our roles as leaders and managers, we need to
consider the leader in context.
Research on leadership has focused on the traits of leaders, the behaviors they
enact, and how they make decisions.
However, one size does not fit all. Different leader styles and behaviors are needed
depending on the characteristics of the followers and the situation. How one might
lead unskilled workers would be very different than how one might lead
experienced professionals. Some job tasks are more routine while others call for
greater creativity and flexibility. Understanding the demands of the situation and
the needs of followers is critical to effective leadership.
Lets break down this transactional model. First consider the characteristics of leaders.
Many years of research have attempted to identify those traits that typically characterize
leaders. The six traits represented here are those most consistently identified among
successful leaders. Certainly leaders tend to have high energy levels, tend to be intelligent
and are self‐confident. Other traits are more situation dependent. For example a leader of
a multi‐disciplinary team will likely not have specific task knowledge of all the disciplines
within the team. The leader in this situation needs to rely on the task knowledge of her
team members. Similarly, while many leaders are dominant, increasingly servant
leadership has attracted attention. Charisma is often seen as a trait of public figures, but
may or may not be a feature among other leadership situations.
The four leader behaviors listed here represent degrees of focus of the leader with respect
to their followers. Leaders may focus attention on the well being and satisfaction of their
members (consideration) or may focus more attention on defining and directing the work.
Some models place consideration and structure on a continuum and suggest a dynamic
tension between focus on the tasks versus relationships in the team. Certainly, the leader
subordinate relationship is one of exchange. The leader provides direction, guidance,
resources and rewards and in turn receives the work, attention, and commitment of the
follower.
Finally, leaders may differ in the extent to which they involve followers in deciding what
needs to be done and how to do the work. Some leaders tend to be more autocratic. The
consultative style involves asking for input from key members, and then making decisions,
while the participative style involves more direct involvement of members in decisions.
The participative style requires transparency and open dialog, and implies that the leader is

A leader's behaviors as dictated by personality and identity can cause a rift in the leader-member relationship due to the perceptions that the follower has of the leader. If a leader does not build a strong relationship between the member and the follower, then the actions that are based upon the uniqueness of the leader will not be received well (Zheng et. al., 2020). If the member is unable to identify with the core values of the leader or even with the vision the leader has, then when the leader makes a decision for the organization that is not viewed as appropriate by the member, the member will not stand behind the leader and thus the rift will be created. Should this rift be created, then it is likely that the organization strategy set forth by the leader will be undermined and could cause a major problem. This is not an ideal situation for any leader, however, should the situation arise it is advisable to try and remedy the relationship. Often times the leader must reach out with a technique that will not further ruin the relationship and instead of one that will build up the relationship. Such a strategy can be difficult to find, but not impossible.

Influence means that the relationship among people is not passive. A definition of leadership is the ability to influence people toward the attainment of goals. Power is the potential ability to influence the behavior of others. Power represents the resources with which a leader effects changes in employee behavior.

The turbulence and uncertainty of the environment in which most organizations are operating has significantly influenced leadership styles in recent years. Ethical and economic difficulties, corporate governance concerns, globalization, changes in technology, new ways of working, shifting employee expectations, and significant social transitions have contributed to a shift in how we think about and practice leadership.
A key characteristic of Level 5 leaders is an almost complete lack of ego, coupled with a fierce resolve to do what is best for the organization. In contrast to the view of great leaders as larger-than-life personalities with strong egos and big ambitions, Level 5 leaders often seem shy and unpretentious. Although they accept full responsibility for mistakes, poor results, or failures, Level 5 leaders give credit for successes to other people.
The concept of servant leadership, first described by Robert Greenleaf, is leadership upside down, because leaders transcend self-interest to serve others and the organization. Servant leaders operate on two levels: for the fulfillment of their subordinates’ goals and needs and for the realization of the larger purpose or mission of their organization. Servant leaders give things away—power, ideas, information, recognition, credit for accomplishments, even money. Servant leaders truly value other people. They are trustworthy and they trust others. Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The leaders, the followers, and the situation The leader provides expertise as well the value, skills, mission, vision, goals. Position and personality in the organization are affected by their influence. The leaders are different than the followers as well as ineffective leaders in term of trait, influence, personality, value, skills etc. The temperament of the leaders affects their leadership quality. Second one is followers. Those followers are very effective who follow the goals shared by their leaders. The other elements in framework are the trust in leader shown by the followers, their confidence in them as well as the leaders. The last element is situation. It refers to the behavior by which the interaction of leaders and followers in any particular situation.
