A bill must pass through several steps to become a law, including approval by the House of Representatives, Senate, and President. First, an idea for a new law is drafted into a bill proposal. It is then introduced in the House and assigned to a committee for review. If approved by the committee, the full House debates and votes on the bill. If passed, it moves to the Senate for the same process. Finally, the President must sign the bill for it to become law, or a veto can be overridden with a two-thirds majority vote in both houses.
