1991: tyske politikere utstedte Erneuerbare Energien Gesetz (Renewable Energy Sources Act).
erklærte at Tyskland ville stenge alle sine 17 atomreaktorer innen 2022. Denne energiewende – energirevolusjonen

2014: Green Day -- Den 11.
E.ON Tysklands største kraftselskap tapte over tre milliarder euro.

A nuclear reactor at Kalkar was finished just before the 1986 explosion at Chernobyl, Ukraine—and never used. It’s now an amusement park with a ride in what would have been the cooling tower. Fear of nuclear power spurred Germany’s transition.

The Fosbury Flop is a style used in the athletics event of high jump. It was popularized and perfected by American athlete Dick Fosbury first in 1965 and whose gold medal in the 1968 Summer Olympics brought it to the world's attention.[1] Over the next few years the flop became the dominant style of the event and remains so today. Before Fosbury, most elite jumpers used the straddle technique, Western Roll, Eastern cut-off or even scissors jump to clear the bar. Given that landing surfaces had previously been sandpits or low piles of matting, high jumpers of earlier years had to land on their feet or at least land carefully to prevent injury. With the advent of deep foam matting high jumpers were able to be more adventurous in their landing styles and hence experiment with styles of jumping.
Jan Mauritz Boklöv (born 14 April 1966) is a Swedish former ski jumper who won the 1988–89 World Cup season. He also dominated the Swedish national championships during the late 1980s and early 1990s.[1]
He is best known for popularising the now-ubiquitous V-style in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Why "everyone" is wrong about the Industrial Internet
The II, today, is at a similar stage to the first bridges made of steel: they copied the design of prior wooden bridges. It took architects many years to understand that steel had fundamentally different properties from wood, and thus very different designs were enabled. I think the same thing is happening today in the II space - many are looking to standardize what they want for the "1% improvement", and ignoring the refactoring that will change the nature of industry (and human labor) itself. II is not revolutionary if it is only analytics applied to machines to make them more efficient. Predictive analytics are nice, but they don't require new kinds of networks, and they aren't an 'industrial revolution' II alludes to. The idea of condition based maintenance has been around for decades - there's no revolution waiting in the wings. And I know I don't get out of bed in the morning to make something slightly more efficient. The real revolution we can see, today, has already started to happen in the consumer/IoT space: the 'maker' movement and the construction of ad hoc systems to serve an end user's mission need, without having a design, an architecture, an engineering degree, or even anything more than the idea that they want device A to talk to device B to produce effect C under circumstances D. Today that's still hard to do--what II can do is make it a whole lot easier. That's a very different kind of system than we build today - we (over) engineer things to ensure predictability, cost containment, safety, and security. We don't allow some customer to change our products; we don't allow someone doing field maintenance to change our part suppliers; we certainly don't allow the accountants to control the water flow into the nuclear power plant. I think the real impact of the II will be when industries have those IoT abilities - when it is the end user that configures the product for their need, and that in turn changes what the manufacturer produces for the price point desired, and factories and plants themselves are constructed in an ad hoc fashion on demand--not by design. Mass customization at the next level - where much of the customization is done in the field, by the machine itself, based on need. And that's going to require a very different kind of network, a different kind of device and a different kind of business model than we have today. It's going to require automating engineering, pushing autonomy downward (e.g., so devices can know if they are being employed safely, and reject requests that they do otherwise), and getting away from the kind of IP we have today. Everyone will be able to manufacture what they want on demand. Everyone will be able to sketch what they need, and have it built for them in minutes instead of months. Services will be distributed arising based on need (pull) not marketing (push). Scarcity will decrease (at least for commodity products). And people will take jobs they are actually interested and engaged in, rather than just need for money. Boring repetitive work, optimization work, engineering work will be automated away. What will be left is artistic design, new kinds of engagement, and most of the creative arts. Which implies work is going to have to compete more directly with other kinds of engagement, like sports and entertainment. I think that's an "industrial revolution" worth having. What do you think?
