Switching on and how to use a tablet
Navigating, swiping, Pinch & Zoom

down notification bar, switching between apps
How to find a wireless network
Settings – widgets that set Brightness, Wifi,
Bluetooth & GPS when not needed as these can
quickly eat up resources
Attaching a Keyboard
Software is loaded onto a tablet as an 'app' from the
Google Play Store or Apple Store
Locking the tablet

16. Getting Started with a Tablet
Most apps are free to download, although beware
of free apps that are loaded with adverts. Read
reviews from other people or try & then delete.
Chargeable apps are usually only £2 or £3.
Set up apps to 'Auto Update' to make sure you have
latest changes. Some will need confirmation if
permissions change (e.g. to use maps)
Regularly review installed apps to maintain space
and stop tablet being slow. A tool like 'AppMgrIII'
will move them to SD Card to save space.
Safety & Security
Anti-virus – Protect against Apps & Links. Still need
to be careful – 'Lookout' is a good Anti-Virus App
