We created an original narrative focused on economic inflation, symbolized through a character journeying away from his stressful life. While including typical elements like thought beats and the star image, we challenge conventions by obscuring the musicians' identities and including an historical quote with ambiguous meaning. The video develops forms by alternating narrative and performance shots and manipulating the mood to match the song.
How effective is the combination of your main?
The three media products of a promotional music video, poster, and album digipak were designed to introduce the artist 'Avocet' and establish a consistent public image. Uniform dark coloring, black costumes, monstrous makeup, typography, and camera angles were used across all three products to portray Avocet as a mysterious yet innocent gothic indie artist. Editing techniques like darkening effects, framing, and intertextual references to other artists were employed to emphasize the sinister themes and connect the products visually. Birds were featured as a motif to represent the artist's desire for freedom within the imposed 'monster' persona.

My partner and I designed a digipak for a zombie-themed song, with the singer on the front wearing a surgical mask displaying the title or artist. For the CD background, I designed a heart containing the letters "Z" and "L" for "Zombie Love". My partner suggested keeping the back simple and white like a surgical scene, adding a drop of blood. An image of a graveyard from the music video was chosen for the inside left cover to represent the zombies' home.

He researched conventions of horror genre posters and websites to inform his ancillary texts. - 2. Front Cover This was idea showing the actor throwing his wallet and phone into canal from a bridge, this was a shot from the ‘Dreams’ music video. This is probably my favorite design as it also incorporates an advert in the social background of Nottingham. This design was trying to show him day dreaming, and his thought bubble was around the sun, but blocking it out. This design could possibly be the main design, if I feel as if the advertisement design looks too much like advertisement and moves away from conventions.
- 3. Back cover This is the only back cover design I have but it links with the advert design. I was hoping this design would use the shoes but slightly worn as if he had been running for a while. There will be 11 additional tracks with the main track ‘Dreams,’ which I will be doing the music video too.
- 4. Final Design This is the final design, showing my actor, running with advertised shoes on, towards the sun set. The cation will say chase your dreams, which coincidently is the name of the album. It links with the main song ‘Dreams’ and how Alexander is trying to chase each day. The shoes will actually also be actual advertisement for his company selling shoes.
