This slide share shows my main designs and which ones iv'e chose for my final digipack, however there is still a small debate on which design will end up as the front cover.
This document discusses potential designs for an album cover and packaging. The front cover design shows an actor throwing his belongings into a canal while daydreaming. Another design incorporates an advertisement into the background setting of Nottingham. The back cover design depicts the actor running while wearing worn shoes. The final design shows the actor running toward a sunset while wearing advertised shoes, with the caption "chase your dreams" linking it to the album's theme and title track "Dreams."
This document provides ideas for creating a promotional package for the song "Warmth" by Bastille. It includes suggestions for a music video featuring stock footage and locations in and around York. Costumes would be fashionable but not extravagant. An example album cover layout is shown using the band's font with a weathered effect. Inside the digipack would include a message from the artists and tour information.
The student created a concept music video for the song "What I Want" by 8 Track Stereo featuring a toy VW camper van embarking on a journey around a house when the owner leaves for band practice. The camper van encounters various comedic mishaps that relate to the song's lyrics, such as getting tangled in spaghetti and lost in leaves. The video uses stop motion animation and incorporates footage of the band to appeal to both young and old audiences through its playful narrative and adherence to music video conventions while also challenging some conventions through its use of concept and animation over performance.
The document summarizes three props that will be used in a music video: an iPhone 6s that the main actor Asaaf will use to show he is on a phone call; a car that Asaaf will drive through the city, relating to lyrics about driving and appealing to a younger audience; and a baseball bat that a gang member played by Daniyal will swing around, relating to lyrics about gangs and violence.
Chris Cunningham is a filmmaker known for his unique and obscure creative works, including music videos featuring distorted figures. One of his films, "Come to Daddy", depicts children with blurred and deformed faces being corrupted by a figure on television. Cunningham creates films with low budgets but high artistic value, allowing his work to become well-known without relying on money.
The document discusses potential images from a photo shoot at Leake Street in Waterloo for a digi-pack. It analyzes several photos of an artist crouching in front of graffiti, considering whether each image could work as the front cover or inside pages based on factors like the artist looking at the camera, her expression, how her clothing matches the background art, and how well the image fits with the genre and other digi-pack photos. Screenshots from the graffiti tunnel are also considered for inside pages or the back cover.
This document provides prop descriptions for a music video, including a microphone, phone, car, and mixing desk. Each prop is described in terms of how it will be used in the narrative and shots of the video. The relevance and relatability of each prop to the target audience and genre is also discussed.
Michel Gondry is a French film director known for his unconventional and creative style in directing music videos. His videos are often set in both the real world and a dream-like world created by Gondry. Though he works across genres, Gondry's videos are consistently unique in their unrealistic elements and emphasis on visuals over narrative. Examples like his video for "Everlong" contrast black and white reality with colorful dreams. While maintaining real-world settings, Gondry adds surreal elements that reflect the dream-like qualities of the artist's work.

He began his career directing music videos for French rock bands in the 1980s. Some of his most famous works include the music video for The Chemical Brothers' song "Let Forever Be" and the 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which explores postmodern concepts like erasing memories. Gondry is renowned for his creative imagery and unique storytelling techniques that prioritize fantasy over realism.
The document summarizes the creative decisions made in developing the opening scenes of a student comedy film called "Blackout". Key elements discussed include choosing the production company names "Primrose Productions" and "Dream World Productions", selecting the title "Blackout" to match the party scenes, designing costumes and props to resemble films like "21 and Over", adding colored lights to lighting during editing, and using techniques like establishing shots, panning shots, and split screens to make the scenes interesting. Gender representation in the scenes focuses on male characters to make the party hilarious, as seen in films that inspired the project.
This document summarizes the effectiveness of combining the main music product with ancillary texts such as the music video, website, and album cover. While subtle connections were made between the products through consistent use of imagery like crosses and baths, and fonts, the bold colors of the ancillary texts did not translate well to the music video locations. Overall, more direct references could have been made between the character and stylistic elements of the ancillary texts to better tie the music products together as a cohesive package.

The document summarizes and analyzes three media products - a promotional video, digipak, and poster - created to introduce an indie-rock artist named Avocet. Uniform design elements across the products help establish the artist's mysterious yet innocent public image. Techniques like makeup, framing, color palette, and intertextual references with other artists are used consistently to connect the products and develop the artist's brand. The combination of the main video and ancillary texts effectively promotes the digipak and markets the artist to their target young audience.
1. The document discusses location scouting and costume/prop design for a film project.
2. Locations used included bedrooms, bathrooms, shops, and pubs in Staines and Ashford.
3. Costumes for the main character included a checked shirt, jeans, and plimsolls to fit indie genre conventions. Makeup was kept minimal.
The music video will feature a female main character whose face is not revealed until the end to build mystery and tension. Various shots from her point of view will be used to make the viewer feel like they are experiencing her journey. Scenes will be filmed in several London locations, including a train station, Hyde Park, and streets, to showcase ordinary lives and link to the song's lyrics. The narrative aims to tell a story about people's lives through the main character's eyes and show the highs and lows, building to a revelation of her story at the end when her face is shown as she finds her "one," connecting to the religious theme of finding God.
The document outlines plans for filming a music video in London. Scenes will include shots of Liverpool Street station from various angles, two people walking away to represent a relationship falling apart, and using software to show the lingering of a relationship. Additional scenes will feature a woman checking her watch while waiting for "God" at a coffee shop, locations around London to expose the surroundings, and a woman lying on the floor to literally represent lyrics. Effects like time lapse will be used to convey themes of people rushing through life without noticing God.

The products utilize a consistent dark color scheme, makeup, and imagery to portray the artist as a mysterious yet innocent gothic figure. Editing techniques and intertextual references are used to connect the products and establish the artist's public image.
The document discusses the production of an indie romantic comedy film made by students. They researched the genre and watched similar films like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Love Actually to understand characters and storylines. They filmed scenes at various local locations like a bowling club transformed into a restaurant and outside a cafe for a date scene. They used lighting, music, and different camera shots and angles like panning and split screens intentionally to enhance emotions and create meaning and coherence in telling their story.

The three media products of a promotional music video, poster, and album digipak were designed to introduce the artist 'Avocet' and establish a consistent public image. Uniform dark coloring, black costumes, monstrous makeup, typography, and camera angles were used across all three products to portray Avocet as a mysterious yet innocent gothic indie artist. Editing techniques like darkening effects, framing, and intertextual references to other artists were employed to emphasize the sinister themes and connect the products visually. Birds were featured as a motif to represent the artist's desire for freedom within the imposed 'monster' persona.
My partner and I designed a digipak for a zombie-themed song, with the singer on the front wearing a surgical mask displaying the title or artist. For the CD background, I designed a heart containing the letters "Z" and "L" for "Zombie Love". My partner suggested keeping the back simple and white like a surgical scene, adding a drop of blood. An image of a graveyard from the music video was chosen for the inside left cover to represent the zombies' home.
The document discusses the design elements used in various movie posters and websites. It notes the fonts, colors, layouts, and conventional elements used, such as billing boxes, taglines, and title placements. Main colors typically included pink, blue, and white. Sans serif fonts were commonly used for banners and titles. Images and backgrounds were usually kept simple and clear.
The document proposes creating an "Internet Opera" marketing campaign for the Opera browser that encourages people to participate in creating a welcoming jingle for Opera by downloading the browser and submitting their ideas. People would share their jingle ideas on YouTube and other social media platforms, driving awareness of and engagement with the Opera browser. The goal is for the campaign to become a popular internet trend and for Opera to potentially use the top submitted jingle as its official welcome message.

2. Front Cover
This was idea showing
the actor throwing his
wallet and phone into
canal from a bridge, this
was a shot from the
‘Dreams’ music video.
This is probably my
favorite design as it also
incorporates an advert
in the social background
of Nottingham.
This design was trying to
show him day dreaming,
and his thought bubble
was around the sun, but
blocking it out.
This design could possibly
be the main design, if I feel
as if the advertisement
design looks too much like
advertisement and moves
away from conventions.
3. Back cover
This is the only back cover design I have
but it links with the advert design.
I was hoping this design would use the
shoes but slightly worn as if he had
been running for a while.
There will be 11 additional tracks with
the main track ‘Dreams,’ which I will be
doing the music video too.
4. Final Design
This is the final design, showing my actor,
running with advertised shoes on, towards the
sun set. The caption will say ‘chase your
dreams’, which coincidently is the name of the
album. It links with the main song ‘Dreams’
and how Alexander is trying to chase each day.
The shoes will actually be advertisement for
his company, selling shoes which I can
advertise on the website.
