Need of E-Learning
While there is a huge need and demand for quality Technical / Vocational / Skills
education in India, the availability is far from adequate.
Industrial Demand of Skilled Manpower
Skilled Manpower shortage
Poor institutional infrastructure, lack of knowledgeable teaching staff, remote
geographic locations are the key factors affecting the development of knowledgeable
/skilled manpower through the Technical and Vocational Education.

National Knowledge Commission has suggested the creation of infrastructure for
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and developing open
resources for distance Learning and E-Learning.
To implement the recommendations of Commission, Technical / Vocational Institutes
need to
• Accelerate creation of right infrastructure,
• Adopt new technology based Learning, Training or Teaching paradigms to
close the existing capacity gap and
• Meet the demands of quality education.
