The food you eat undergoes a lot
of processes that convert them
into nutrients your body needs.

3. The digestive system is a
collection of organs that breaks
down food into energy.
The digestion of food happens in
digestive system.

system serves to
do the following.
1. ingestion-Your
mouth is the
opening of the
digestive tract. The
process of putting
food into your
mouth is ingestion.

digestive organs
process the food
that you eat
through digestion.
Digestion refers to
the breakdown of
food into small
molecules that can
be used by
Body.

6. 3. Absorption-When
food is broken into
small molecules,
absorption happens
next. The nutrient
molecules from the
food you eat pass
through the wall of the
digestive system into
your blood. During
absorption, molecules
enter the circulatory
system from the
digestive tract.

7. 4. Elimination-Some
food substances are
not absorbed and
digested.
Substances that
cannot be absorbed
are eliminated from
the body as feces.
Cellulose is one
example of a
material your body
cannot digest.

system is divided
into alimentary
canal and
accessory organs.

9. Alimentary canal
includes the
mouth,
esophagus,
stomach, small
intestine, and
large intestine.
These are main
organ for
digestion.

10. Pancreas, liver,
gallbladder, and
salivary glands are
accessory organs.
These organs help
in the digestion
process by
secreting enzymes
that further
breakdown food
particles.
