Digestive and Nervous Systems
Nervous System
• Controls all other body systems
• The brain is the core of the system – it collects
information and makes decisions
Nervous System
• The spinal cord is the main pathway for
messages between the brain and the rest
of the body.
• The nervous system sends messages
from your sense organs to your brain
Digestive System
• Your body needs
materials & energy to
stay alive & grow.
• You get this energy
from the food you eat.
Digestive System
• Digestive system breaks down food so it
can be used by the body.
• Begins with your mouth when you
chew.
• Then food enters the esophagus and
goes to the stomach.
• In the stomach food mixes with
chemicals.
• When it leaves the stomach it goes into the small
intestine.
• Nutrients are absorbed by the body.
• In the large intestine water is removed from the food
and taken to the body.
• Any remaining food that is not digested turns into
waste.
• Waste is then expelled from the body.
