Disadvantages of Helicopter Parenting Essay example
Helicopter Parenting
How does a person grow up to be who they are? Most people say it is determined by the way their
parents raise them. The parents that hover close and the parents that give their children space will
have children with complete opposite characteristics. Parents that hover close are referred to as
Helicopter Parents, and children that are given a lot of space are called Free Range Kids
(Rutherford). Although these styles of parenting are vastly different, both kinds of parents are
trying to do what is best for their child. Of the two parenting types, helicopter parenting is looked
at as a worse method for parenting. There are more negative aspects of it then there are positive.
Not only do helicopter parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What may be the most noticeable characteristic of these parents is their over involvement in their
child s academics. They see their child s school work and academic activities as something that
is for the child and parent together instead of for the child alone (How Not to Be a Helicopter
Parent). Therefore, when the child does not do well on any given thing, the parent feels guilty as if
it were their fault that the child failed (How Not to Be a Helicopter Parent).
The over involvement of parents can make the child develop psychological issues. They are
shown to have a higher risk of depression, anxiety, lack self confidence, and have low self esteem
( Helicopter Parents Stir Up Anxiety, Depression). It is shown that no matter what parenting
technique is being used, every parents goal is to build their child s self esteem (Rutherford).
Sadly, helicopter parenting does the exact opposite. Equally important, the persons lack of self
confidence comes from the over involvement of their parents in his/her childhood activities and
academics. They never experienced failure or loss because the parents were always there to step
in, so they never achieved anything to build their confidence ( Helicopter Parents Stir Up Anxiety,
Depression). It is common for a child with helicopter parents to develop depression when moving
from their home to

Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Pachelbel, And Handel
There are three big periods of music. These periods are Baroque, Classical, and Romantic. In these
periods there were several different composers who helped shape that period. Here are but a few in
each of the period.
In the Baroque period, some composers are Vivaldi, Monteverdi, Pachelbel, and Handel. There,
of course, are much more as these are just four composers. First, Vivaldi, his full name is Antonio
Lucio Vivaldi. Vivaldi was born in 1678 and grew to be an Italian violinist and a composer. He
was born with angina pectoris or chest pain due to heart disease caused by his heart not gaining
enough oxygen, he was also born with asthma. Due to these conditions, he was known for running
out of the church, but he was also known to run out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the time Claudio was in his teens, he had already published several religious and secular music,
but his music took a turn when he was employed by the Duke of Mantua. There he would meet
Giaches De Wert who changed his music drastically. The change puts his music in a whole new
direction. Monteverdi will later die in the year 1643.
The last composer mentioned is Handel. Handel was a German composer who was born in 1685
and later became an English citizen in his later years. In Handel s younger years his father did
not wish for him to go into music due to thinking it would not create him enough money. Handel
s mother did approve through and helped him to study in secret. When Handel got older he
would later, please his father by going to school to become a lawyer but later dropping out to
pursue music, his passion. Handel suffered through several problems throughout the years. He
struggled with anxiety and depression. He also suffered two strokes within the same year. Both
of which he made a shockingly quick recovery. Also in his later years, he ended up losing sight in
his left eye but that did not stop him as he continued to compose. Two years after losing sight in
his left eye, he lost sight in his right eye. Despite being completely blind, he continued to compose
depending on his memory of the notes to compose.
In the Classical period, some composers are Haydn, Boccherini, Mozart, and Hummel. There, of
course, are much more as these are just four composers.

The Pros And Cons Of Fingerprinting And Blood Testing
Fingerprinting and blood testing are two types of assessments to make a positive identification of
a criminal. Since everybody s fingerprints are diverse, it is easy to compare them through a
computerized program that forensic scientists use. In order to prove if the DNA of a victim and a
criminal match, there are steps that must be followed carefully and correctly.
There are many reasons why fingerprinting is used as an important methods for identification (Hall,
2015). As stated by Hall (2015), A fingerprintconsists of several identifiable characteristic, such as
loops, arches, whorls, islands, and bifurcations. The arrangement, frequency, and design of these
features are among the many characteristics used to distinguish prints from one another (p. 510).
Everybody s fingerprints are the same. Fingerprints are kept in Federal and state agencies of the
within the law. When someone commits a crime, a forensic scientist takes fingerprints and match
them through the database in computers. Since fingerprinting does not go against the Fifth
Amendment, a search warrant is not required. Fingerprints can be matched with someone s hair
down the color of their eyes. Another type of type of recognition to identify someone is through
blood tests, and it is used in the U.S. Benches. The individuals who has this procedure done may
feel pain and get sick from the procedure.
Since this procedure constitutes a search as outlined in the Fourth Amendment, authorization from
a judge is

Comparing Barrier s The Interlopers And The Story Of An Hour
These two stories are not much the same, but the differences they have are tremendous. Both of
these stories show wanting to let go and give up. But at the same time they wanted to give up
for different reasons, both eventually dying or close to death. Both having to deal with horrible
conditions and they held on for the longest time in hope that they would finally find happiness.
In The Story of an Hour , Mrs. Mallard, who was beat up by her husband for years and years, so
when she heard about his death she finally felt free and that she was finally able to control her
own life all over again. The idea that she was finally in control again giving her a sense of life
for the first time in a long time. But that s when she was finally able to reason with herself to
leave her room and to face her sister. When they went to the top of the stairs and saw her husband
standing there and hadn t been in the car accident at all and he was perfectly fine, she died from a
heart attack. When she realized that she wasn t in control again and that he would be there from
then on, it gave her heart attack at the thought.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

finding a way off the island, he stayed on the island to be hunted by this guy he just met shortly

Summary Of Human Rights Act 1998
Human Rights Act, 1998:
The Human Rights Act, (HRA), year 1998, gives vulnerable people who are receiving care, the
right to their own:
1.privacy
2.protection
3.involvement in decision making about the care they receive. In some cases, people s rights are
restricted due to their mental health issues and their ability to know what is the most suitable for
them. This act helps to promote anti discrimination as all people have the same rights and priorities
as each other. This act also sets out specific rules and criteria s in which vulnerable individuals
should be cared for in order to meet the act s demands and goal. For example, in a nursing home,
all residents should have the right to freedom of speech and this must be respected by everyone
in the nursing home. This act authorises and allows the Protection of Vulnerable Adults
Scheme. This scheme checks to make sure that the care workers are fit for working with
vulnerable adults in any Health and Social care sector/ setting. The Care Standards act sets
standards for a good service and support for those who are in need of them. This promotes anti
discrimination as this act makes sure that the standards of care homes and Health and Social care
services are at a good, stable level. This means that staff members will be informed, prepared and
trained about the standards and will, therefore, know that discrimination is wrong and unacceptable.
For example, when someone is successful in a job interview for a care home, the

Healthcare Is Necessary For Health Care
Healthcare is an option that a lot of people need and want as a benefit of their places of
employment. Healthcare is necessary for people to be able to live a healthy lifestyle. Everyone
is in need of healthcare at some point in their life and healthcare is something that is needed to
help reduce the out of pocket cost to the patient. Medical care is necessary but can be very
expensive and those out of pocket expenses can add up. Simple procedures can cost anywhere
from hundreds of dollars to thousands of dollars. Healthcare options help reduce the cost that
people pay out of pocket for these necessary but expensive procedures.
A majority of jobs offer some type of health care benefits to their qualified employees. These
qualified employees usually have to be considered a full time employee or work a certain number
of hours a week in order to receive health care benefits. Losing a job also means that person loses
their health insurance as well. This can be detrimental to a family that their only option for health
insurance is through the place of employment. Under the Consolidated Omnibus Reconciliation
Act of 1985 (COBRA), the possibility of keeping health coverage even after a job loss is likely
given that a specific type of event has occurred.
What is COBRA? Consolidated Omnibus Reconciliation Act is a law that was enacted in 1986 that
allowed employees to keep their health coverage when they are terminated from their place of
employment (Ross, Hayes). Job

Speech On Goats
Goats (Capra hircus) One of the earliest animals to be tamed by mankind is goats (Capra
hircus). A thousand years have passed since these creatures were initially domesticated by man
back in West Asia and have spread internationally since then. Goats are animals with a wide
ecological spread, which makes them as a very common type of animal. Their physical features
include a thick body, cloven hooves, and horns. In 1758, Carl Linnaeus gave Capra hircus as the
goat s Latin name. Goats are divided into two main types: domestic goats (Capra hircus) and
mountain goats (Oreamnos americanus). Domestic goats are the goats that we typically see being
raised and bred in farms, meanwhile mountain goats are found living in steep, rocky areas

Although they are herbivores, they are known to eat and chew on almost everything that they
find in their surroundings including cardboard boxes and tin cans. They practice this eating
habit in order to determine to find out if the food is good enough to eat. Goats are curious
creatures. They love to explore anything new that they see in their surroundings. They can
move easily and quickly. Goats are well known for their ability to climb and balance in uncertain
places. Goats have an important stand precisely in the world of agriculture and animal
husbandry. Raising goats have been, for many of years now, a feasible form of livelihood
especially for Filipinos working in farms. Some consider raising goats as their ultimate source of
income for their everyday needs. A certain range of dairy products can be produced from its milk,
including cheese, buttermilk, yogurt, sour cream, and the milk itself as a beverage. In comparison
with cow milk, goat milk contains less sugar (lactose), 134% more potassium, 47% more vitamin
A, 25% more vitamin B6, and 13% more calcium. Goat milk is also less allergenic, easier to
digest, naturally homogenized, and rarely causes lactose intolerance. Cows (Bos

Individuality In The Giver
The theme conveyed through the Giver is that individuality should be valued. The story takes
place in a utopian society where everything is the same. There are no choices, no color, and no
love in the Community of Sameness. The novel starts out a month before the Ceremony of
Twelve, where the 12 year olds each get assigned a job. Jonas gets the assignment of the Receiver
of Memory, and he soon finds out that lying is permitted, and receives several memories of the
past without sameness, with pain too. He has the ability to see beyond, and finds out that he and

The Consumer Rights Of The Magna Carta
1. In addition to the basic consumer rights expressed in the consumer s Magna Carta, what other
expectations do you think consumer stakeholders have of business? The basic consumer rights
expressed in the Magna Carta include the right to safety; they want products to be free of
pesticides and the drugs we purchase and foods we consume are safe as well as product safety.
Secondly, there is the right to be informed, which refers to the right to know about a product, and
the use of a product, and this deals with advertisingand marketing. There is also the right to make
choices, meaning the competition makes sure there are other options available, and lastly, to be
heard, meaning consumers have the right to communicate with business concerning what they may
want in a product, and any complaints they may have about a product (Carroll, 2012, p. 392). In
addition to these rights, consumers demand fair value for money spent on a product; they also
expect a product to meet reasonable expectations, which means the product will as be safe, and
thoroughly tested according to regulation and if it is not safe, it should be taken off the market. In
addition, consumers expect complete disclosure of the descriptions and design of a product or
service, and that there is truth in advertisements (Carroll, 2012, p. 393).
2. What is your opinion of the consumerism movement? Is it alive and well or is it dead?
Provide evidence for your observations.
I feel consumerism is alive and well.

Copper Iodide Synthesis Lab Report
Before the synthesis of the Copper Iodine Compound, the identities provided (CuNO3)2 and Nal
weighed 1.65 g and 4.7 g, respectively. After being weighed, the (CuNO3)2 exhibited a blue color,
while the Nal, through observation, was a white color. However, when both identities were
combined, the product turned into a brown and red rocky material. Once 20 mL of deionized water
was added, the product quickly turned pale pinkpaste. After the solution was repeatedly washed
with a total of an additional 100 mL of deionized water, the product was powdery and pink with
small grains, and was left to air dry. Once the product was air dried, it was observed to be a pale
pink color, while the filter paper was stiff as the product was hard and dry. Therefore, the solid
was scraped off onto a recrystallizing dish. However, the mass of an empty recrystallizing dish
needed to be recorded in order to compare how much of the synthesized copper iodide was
obtained. Within this case, the empty recrystallizing dish used weighed 32.01 g, the product on the
empty dish weighed 1.03 g, having a total weight of 33.04 g.
Subsequently, two porcelain crucibles were used, weighed, and heated for about 10 minutes and
then placed into a desiccator to cool. The two empty porcelain crucibles were first heated because
the heat would vaporize any impurities that were originally on the crucible. The first crucible
weighed 11.9047 g and the second crucible weighed 12.3735 g. Once the mass of the two crucibles

Puerto Rican Music and Its Significance Essay
Puerto Rican Music and Its Significance
Although the policies of Americanization and degradation of Puerto Rican culture heritage
improved by the United States in Puerto Rico during the early decades of the twentieth century, the
utmost concern for the United States was the strategic location of the island for political and
economic advantages, not of the people who inhabited it. Puerto Rico, though a poor colony, was a
rich cultural spot in an area of dynamic cultural influence of the Caribbean. One aspect of the
Puerto Rican culture that was greatly influenced by its location in the Caribbean and by its
repossession by the United States is music. Music permeated the daily life of Puerto Ricans
(Waxer, Oct. 29). Music was the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus the bomba became known as talking drums (Glasser, 1995).
The plena, another typical form of Puerto Rican music, was considered the singing newspaper. It
was developed at the turn of the century by a lower class mulato population (made up of Puerto
Rican freed slaves and migrants from the English Antilles) on the coast. Themes for the music
came from the idiosyncrasies and normalcies of daily life, and was incorporated through a
narrative verse taken from the Spanish music culture through call and response . Call and
response, another African influence, is a component of traditional African musical expression in
which a phrase is sung (chanted by part of a group of people and that phrase is responded to by a
refrain by the other part of the group. Call and response is a component of the bomba, the plena,
and the danza and still exists today as an important ingredient of Puerto Rican music. It facilitates
dialogue, and encourages a sense of community by enabling more people to join in, which then
closes the gaps between classes and races (Waxer, Oct. 29).
The third traditional form of Puerto Rican music is the danza. This genre, developed by mulato
artisans in late nineteenth century, reflected the race, class, and nationality issues which were
present at that time. As the plena and the bomba had African roots, the danza had roots in English,
French, and

Nietzsche Influence
Srivaishnav Gandhe Dr.Bird English 453.6 30 Nov. 2017 Thesis Nietzsche and his Influence on
the Modern Western World Nietzsche is an atheist, a life affirming nihilist, an extreme
pessimist, a trickster, a gleefully defiant irreverent rebel and a sick hero , my father said when I
asked, What does Nietzsche mean to you. My father was one of the many people who hated
Nietzsche. And maybe he is right in his own perspective because, What do we do when someone
questions our existence?. What do we do when someone says God is dead?. What do we do
when someone comes and shakes the foundations of our beliefs?. But most of all the question is
what do we do when someone questions everything we believe in?. I wouldn t say Nietzsche is
telling the truth, because even he doesn t believe in the concept of truth. To put it in his words
To tell the truth is to lie according to a fixed convention. So, to me Nietzsche is a not a man who
tells you whether your beliefs are true or false, but challenges you whether your belief about
your beliefs are soundly premised. He upends your universe, so that you can reharmonize it over,
on your own terms. Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche was born on October 15,1844, the son of Karl
Ludwig and Franziska Nietzsche. When young Friedrich was about five years old he lost his
father. Then soon after that he lost his brother. These events left young Friedrich the only male in
the family that included his mother, sister, paternal grandmother and an aunt. Upon the loss of
Karl Ludwig, the family moved to Naumburg, Saxony. Friedrich gained admittance to the
prestigious Schulpforta, where he received Prussia s finest education in Humanities, Theology,
and Classical Languages. In addition, Nietzsche played piano and composed music. In 1864,
Nietzsche entered the University of Bonn, spending the better part of that first year
unproductively, joining a fraternity and socializing with old and new acquaintances. By this time
he had also given up Theology, dashing his mother s hopes of a career in the ministry for him.
Instead he choose the study of classical languages and a career in Philology. In 1865, he followed

However, In The Lammas Hireling , the poet takes advantage of the first person point of view, as
it s fable like form allows ongoing themes of fantasy and strong emotion to develop. This technique
of first person immediately acts as a hook for any reader, as the direct account in the form of a
memory, allows for a raw psychological depth to be added to the stanzas. This truthful account of
the first person narrative is thoroughly successful, as it allows us to see and understand the graphic
imagery produced by the narrator therefore presenting the reader with a vivid insight into the
fascinating and intricate world of the narrators mind. However, rather than through vocabulary
Doshi is able to use the first person narrative to further enforce the complex relationship with the
narrator and their mother, who is the deliverer . The very much bland tone and basic language, full
of simple sentences, is lacking description on the whole, which only adds to the dull, thudding
rhythm of the poem. This rhythm is highlighted with the single syllable verbs that thud through the
stanzas, creating a harsh and unforgiving impact on the sentences. This constantly

How Did Commodus Influence Quintianus s Life
Lucius Aurelius Commodus came into the world August 31, 161 in the city of Lanuvium, less than
20 miles from Rome.
Commodus was the son of Faustina the Younger and Marcus Aurelius. It is important to note that
Commodus was tenth child out of fourteen, and the only child to live past childhood. He was given
the name Commodus in honor of Marcus Aurelius co emperor, who had originally borne it.
Early on in Commodus s life, he was taught how to rule in order to succeed father s crown. When
Commodus only five years old he was given the title of Caesar. Wisely so Commodus was not
the sole leader of the empire, but rather co ran with it his father. Or so it would seem. Perhaps this

unhappy with the lack of attention. This would lead him to appear in public gladiator fights.
Instead of being a real gladiator Commodus would just dress liked one. It was very common for
him to show up to the arena dressed in lion skin trying to give the impression that he was the
recantation of Hercules. Commodus would fight both animals and humans. However, it was not
because of his great skill that he survived all these trials of combat, but rather the fact that the fight
was very one sided. The gladiators who face Commodus would be forced to fight with wooden
swords, if that, while Commodus was armed to the teeth. The fighters who would meet Commodus
in the arena stood equally little chance. Animals too stood no chanced as they were chained down

out of the mouths of politicians and experts in the healthcare field about the failing healthcare
system in this country. We often hear many different opinions on what needs to be done to fix our
healthcare problem within this country and fix what looks to be a very broken system at this
point. No matter what the solution to our poor healthcare system is one thing that is very clear is
that healthcare fraud and abuse is playing a major role in the depletion of money in this country
and the rise in healthcare costs for the citizens of this country. Healthcare fraud and abuse are
different terms that describe different types of deceitful acts done by healthcare professionals or by
solo individuals. Fraudulent medical billing is defined as knowingly submitting false statements or
making misrepresentations of facts or false documentation to obtain a health care payment. These
payments for which no entitlement would otherwise exist, knowingly soliciting, paying, and/or
accepting compensation to encourage or reward referrals for items or services reimbursed by
federal health care programs and making prohibited referrals for certain designated health services.

Significance in Storytelling in the Odyssey Essay
Essay One, The Odyssey
Steven Botello
ENGL 2315: Great Works of Literature I
September 16, 2012 Imagine a life without television, no internet, no cell phones, no radio, no
movies, and no video games. This was the life during the Odyssey. The storytelling in the Odyssey
gave Greek society a way of entertainment. Men, woman, and children would listen to these stories
with attentiveness and would then share them throughout their lives. These stories were told in
many ways such as in poems, songs, and tales. If not for storytelling in the Odyssey, the story of
Odysseus would be a lot shorter, as well as insignificant to Greek society. The storytelling in the
Odyssey knitted the life of Odysseus together, and gave many moral lessons and ... Show more

Even today people tell their life s struggles and past to therapists, psychologist, and even family
and friends to help with grief and sorrow. To me, this is what Odysseus is doing in books 9 12.
He was letting out all his feelings by telling his tale of his voyage back home. Yes, it was a
therapy session in which Odysseus told his legendary stories. Nonetheless, through his story
telling All [was] made good, [his] heart s desire (13.45). Odysseus felt relieved of his mournful
feelings after telling his stories and was eager to get home once and for all. Through Odysseus
stories he would engage the listeners by implying that they were there with him, talking to them
and involving them as if they were there. Odysseus was the great teller of tales , the man of great
wisdom. Alcinous urged Odysseus to keep telling his countless exploits in book 11, and so
Odysseus kept on. Alcinous and his men would hold out till dawn s first light if only you could
bear, here in our halls to tell the tale of all the pains you suffered. (11.425 28). This is how great of
entertainment the storytelling of Odysseus was. His skillful techniques with words grasped the
attention and hearts of his listeners. Storytelling has been used to teach moral lessons to adults and
even young children and the storytelling done by Odysseus is no different. In Odysseus first

The Themes Of Girish Karnad
Girish Karnad is one of such committed Indian performing artists of the present times. As he is a
socio politically most sensitive and mature citizen, apart from being an artist, though he does not
adhere to any political ideology, he has fearlessly expressed his views on different occasions at
different platforms. As a responsible artist, he has given vent to the concerns over the contemporary
religious and communal tensions. Parvathi Menon stated that Karnad has been a bitter critic in
recent years of the rise of religious fundamentalism in India. He publicly condemned the destruction
of the Babri Masjid in 1992; he uses all public platforms to warn of the threat Hindutva... Show

Devadatta marries Padmini who while appreciating Devadatta, is attracted to Kapila. Both are
confused about their relationship with Padmini. In desperation, Devadatta offers his head to Goddess
Kali; Kapila does the same. In the ghastly situation, as Padmini prepares to kill herself, Kali
offers her a boon. She asks Padmini to attach the heads to the torsos to bring Devadatta and
Kapila back to life. Kali as the Deliberating Shakti, Vimarsha Shakti is the energy of reasoning
out and planning the gradual evolution of the universe (Zimmer 211). But the play describes her
as a drowsy and exasperated Goddess. She is therefore the dual force of action and carries in one
hand a sword symbolic of physical extermination and spiritual decision and in the other bowl that
yields abundance of food (Seetha 194). This paradoxical creative and destructive force is the pivot
on which develops the theme and the action of the play. Goddess Kali who is so indifferent to
human concerns exposes the lie in their supposedly religious actions. The dialogues between Kali
and Padmini are ironic. Kali recalls her earlier days when she used to be awake because her
devotees kept her awake with their deafening racket with drums and conch shells and cymbals
(Karnad 141). Criticizing the actions of Devadatta and Kapila, she recalls their lies and comments
for Padmini only she spoke the truth (28). But

Effects Of Race On Housing Issues Essay
Given evidence of the effect of race on housing issues, even as it relates to home ownership, an
exploration of the empirical evidence in how it manifests within rental markets is necessary. One of
the leading researchers in the contemporary study of eviction is Matthew Desmond. In Eviction and
the Reproduction of Urban Poverty(2012), he combines statistical and ethnographic analyses to
investigate the ramifications of evictionon the lives of the urban poor. The primary independent
variable in this study was gender, while the dependent was eviction rates as a percentage. Half
of his quantitative analysis involved extracting legal records or court ordered evictions that took
place in Milwaukee County between 2003 to 2007 (n=29,960) ( Eviction and the Reproduction
91). Using addresses, eviction records were merged with population estimates of Milwaukee s
880 block groups ( neighborhoods ), and yearly eviction rates for each block group were
calculated by gender and pooled to calculate annual averages (Eviction and Reproduction 94).
Then risk ratios and differences were determined using 3 different samples: all groups with at
least 1 male and female evictee, high poverty block groups where more than 40% of the
population lived at or below 150% of the poverty line, and hyper segregated neighborhoods where
at least 85% of residents were same race/ethnicity (Eviction and Reproduction 94). While these
measures provided reliable and exact measures of incidence and location,

Charlotte From Now, Voyager Directed By Irving Rapper
Imagine you live in a mansion, your own butler, and maid, everything you could dream of. Would
you be happy? I most certainly would be. There is only one issue with the house, your mother is
controlling and does not want you to be yourself. She decides what you do, wear, say. What about
now? You still happy living there? Charlotte from Now, Voyager directed by Irving Rapper is not
happy with her house because of her mother, Mrs. Vale. The mansion that Charlotte and Mrs. Vale
live in is not only not home like, but also strict and demanding. The house has an important
significance to the film.

so she knows when Charlotte tries to come home late or leaves. This shows Mrs. Vale is strict

Charlotte and the Doctor get into her room, she starts to talk to him about her mother and tells
him a story about when they were on a ship and she was engaged to the sailor and her mother

get help and return from the cruise, Charlotte goes upstairs to her mother s room and Mrs. Vale
tells her that she invited people over and tells her I ll wear my white lace gown. Wear your black

her mother s back and wears what she wants. When Charlotte tries to talk to her mother about
independence and how she has never had any with her, her mother tells her to buy what you

Alexander the Great Essay 9
Alexander the Great Alexander the Great was a king and conqueror. He is commonly referred to
as the most powerful leader of all time. What is it that makes him such a powerful leader? What
has he accomplished that has made him so significant? Were his accomplishments positive or
negative? These are all questions that when combined as one create a debate that has been going
on for decades. There are those who admire Alexander s military achievements and ability to carve
out the largest empire the world has seen. Then there are those who perceive him as a selfish, cruel
madman with drinking problems. This paper will outline the different sides taken on Alexander and

He was a self confident man who only wanted to conquer for self pleasure. Alexander is the
reason that corruption and peculation were treated with casualness during this time. His pleasure
was when his peoples were loyal to him and that was all that was necessary for his approval. It
was because of him that Macedonia lost its manpower through the strenuous battles he
continuously fought. He left it as a weakened kingdom. His empire is given so much credit but it
was only based on rapid military conquest and died right after his death (Stoneman 92 94). It is
believed that Alexander conquered to rule, not to blend cultures. Heavy drinking led to disastrous
incidents and hastened his death. An example of such a disaster was the burning down of Persepolis
in a drunken revel. This is not an attribute of a good leader. He also lacked long range planning
and neglected his kingdoms future by exhausting himself in warfare while he delayed fathering
a royal successor. His selfishness is proved by his act of casually killing any threats to the throne
at the beginning of his reign (Sacks 15). Those who see Alexander in a negative manner
obviously have quite strong opinions about it. They see him as more of a madman than the most
powerful leader. It is easy to see where they get their assumptions from for they look at the
bloodshed part of Alexander s reign. Instead of focusing on the rare ability he had to conquer so

Ribosomes In Eukaryotic Cells
The nucleus houses most of the genes in a eukaryotic cell. The genetic instructions are housed
within a cell, and the instructions are carried out by the ribosomes. The nucleus directs protein
synthesis by synthesizing messenger RNA according to instructions provided by the DNA. The
mRNA is then transported to the cytoplasm via nuclear pores.
The main parts of the nucleus include the nuclear envelope, which encloses the nucleus and
separates it from the cytoplasm, which has an outer and an inner membrane. There is a complex of
pores that helps regulate entry and exit into the nucleus. The nuclear side of the envelope is lined
by the nuclear lamina, which helps maintain the structure of the nucleus. The DNA inside a nucleus
is organized into units called chromosomes, which is made up of chromatin, a complex of proteins
and DNA. The structures in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Free ribosomes are found in the cytosol, while bound ribosomes are found attached to the side of
the endoplasmic reticulum or nuclear envelope.
The information in a gene, found on a chromosome, in the nucleus is used to synthesize an mRNA
that is transported through a nuclear pore to the cytoplasm. There it is translated into a protein,
which is transported back through a nuclear pore into the nucleus, where it joins other proteins and
DNA, forming chromatin.

causes you harm, this can include things such as; hitting, kicking, pulling hair, pinching,
scratching, shaking or (in a care related situation), giving someone too much or not enough

The fifth phase is control which means to take control of the information and situation to make it

Another method used by organization is product improvement. One reason organizations like to

The Child Of The Wild Child
Susan Wiley, or most commonly known as Genie the Wild Child was born on the 18th of April
1957. She was the fourth child of Clark and Irene Wiley and was one of two children that survived
childhood. Her parents were married in 1944 Clark was 20 years his wife s senior and their
marriage was riddled with domestic violence. Their first two children were both suspiciously killed
before their first birthday. It was reported that Clark Wiley extremely disliked children and was
very mentally unstable. The third of the Wiley children John lived with Clarks mother Pearl, when
she was killed in a hit and run accident Clark held his son responsible which only added to his
fragile mental health.
The final child of the couple was Genie. At a doctor s appointment in late 1958 when Genie was
20 months old the doctor diagnosed her with mild retardation. However, this claim has been
debated. Nevertheless, Genie s sadistic father kept her in extreme isolation locked away in an
upstairs bedroom. The window was covered in aluminium foil and Genie was tightly restrained
to a potty chair in near darkness every day. At night she slept in a tattered sleeping bag tied down
in a cot that was enclosed with chicken wire. Although she would often be left on the potty chair
overnight. She was malnourished and Clark forbid his son and wife to speak to Genie. If she was
to make any sound she was beaten with a wooden plank, and was allegedly sexually abused also.

Critical Success Factors in Debating
Critical success factors in debating 1. Introduction In successfully debating, it is equally
necessary to rely on both team preparation efforts, as well as public speaking skills. The art of
debate has been important throughout the entire history of mankind, often times people with
powerful skills for debate earning high powered positions. Today, the process of debate is still
regarded as essential in public communications and it can sometimes weigh in the balance
between the winner and the loser such as the recent case of the debates between the two
presidential candidates, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. In the past, debating in public was
reserved to the people who had an innate ability for public speaking; nowadays however, the
ability to debate is being taught in educational institutions. In the recent past, the class has
participated in a debate over the ability of the single gender schools to create better learning
environments than co ed schools. In conducting the debate, teams were created and various tasks
were assigned within the teams. As part of the educational process then, a question is now being
posed relative to the key factors which drive success in a debate. At this level, it is believed that
the success is ensured by a combination of team effort and good public speaking skills. 2. Team
effort As part of the educational process, the debate over the single gender schools versus the co ed
schools in creating positive educational

Managing Big Data Systems
Definite answers regarding how much usable data is actually being generated by city sized
populations, and best places to get it could be the subject of a future study, but social media
platforms may be the source most easily tapped into for this type of data. Employees of local IT
departments are in danger of having difficulties storing and processing data from social media
platforms to use as a foundation for aligning social networkanalysis with the systems . There is a
growing demand for those having the necessary skillsets to deal with big data. Local governments
(especially smaller sized ones) might have special difficulty acquiring these resources which
makes finding a comprehensive solution for combining big data , SNA, and GIS even more
difficult, as data manipulators are in short supply. A survey supporting a Public CIO Special Report
( The Trouble with Big Data Talent, 2013), finds that more than half of government agencies polled
were experiencing data related hiring difficulties meaning there is a shortage of individuals who
possess an engineering background, can model data mathematically and can contribute to
organizations effectively using data insights for decision making.

Using data mining techniques, such as graph mining and social network analysis on regional data
sources could contribute great insights and improve operations. Social networking analysis is the

The Exodus Of The Beginning Of Israel
Exodus marks the start of Israel as a people. They were an extended family, under a dynasty of
strong pharaohs. They oppressed Israel and put them to forced labor, for fear of their number size.
Still, they multiplied faster, therefore, a decree was issued to destroy them by ordering the death of
all baby boys.
At this particular time Moses was born, from the tribe of Levi. Although trained as the son of
Pharaoh s daughter, yet, his own mother was hired to care for him due to her placing him in the
bulrushes at the edge of the Nile River to not be destroyed because of Pharaoh s order to kill all
baby boys. With his mother caring for him, he grew up knowing the plight of his people. Many
years passed approximately 80 when God appeared to Moses as a shepherd in Midian, in a burning
bush and commanded him to go return to Egypt to rescue the Israelites out of slavery.
From Egypt to Mt. Sinai
Moses was a new beginning for the Israelites. Moses was obedient to God and followed God s
pattern Romans 15:4; 1 Corinthians 10:1 11. He was also the forerunner (foreshadow of Christ) 2
Timothy 1:8 10. He was chosen by God to free Israel from Egypt Exodus 6:1 13. This was also the
fourth generation since Jacob Exodus 16 26.
The stage was set for Pharaoh to witness God s awesome power through Moses Exodus 7 9.

eventually make John D. Rockefeller the richest man in the world. This would come at a price, the
demise of Standard Oil, but multiple companies are born out of the demise of Standard Oil that
become some of the largest oil companies today. Standard Oil even caused the United States of
America to create a federal act to try and control monopolies from eliminating competition in
unethical ways, and from becoming so powerful that they can control not just their markets, but
other markets too, and from having the ability to change the price on consumers... Show more

This trust was an alternative form for a monopoly, and other companies began to use this trust
form of business in order to create giant monopolies in their independent markets. Standard Oil s
sales continued to increase, and the company began to acquire smaller companies to continue
their rapid growth. When Rockefeller would acquire smaller companies, he would completely
shut down the ones he believed were inefficient and keep the ones that he thought he could bring
up to his caliber of quality. Unfortunately for the workers from the companies that were shut
down, they were put out of work. Rockefeller also began to warehouse oil products in order to
have more control over the oil market by having the ability to possess large amounts of oil.
Rockefeller had the ability to send in oil, or hold the oil in the warehouses which could cause a
riff in the oil market. In order to acquire more business from customers Rockefeller struck a deal
with Lake Shore Railroad, to give Standard Oil a 71% discount in return for a promise to ship at
least 60 carloads of oil daily and to handle the loading and unloading. This move cut the throats of
smaller refineries because they could not produce enough oil fast enough to be able to be offered
discounts by railroad companies like Rockefeller did. These deals that Rockefeller had in place

My Guide to Attracting Guys
You may feel like it can be impossible to get a guy to truly notice you. There are different ways
of showcasing your personality and appearance to achieve more attention from guys. It can prove
to be quite difficult at times if you re not sure how to be seen around them. By following my
guide on how to attract guys you will be a couple steps closer to finding your dream guy.
There are certain ways you can portray your personality aimed at a guy; they are most likely to
notice a girl that loves who she is, who is confident, bold and is not afraid to joke around and
make him laugh. Smiling to show that you re having a good time, keeping eye contact with him
so that he knows he s got your undivided attention and do not forget to laugh at his jokes; this is
a big one, even if they are not funny. If you don t laugh it can lead to a really awkward situation
and so can putting on a ridiculous laugh, he might no longer think you are interested. Make sure
you keep the conversation going, ask questions, talk about yourself, school, family, hobbies, but try
not to get too personal. Make sure that you don t talk too much and overload him with information,
give him a chance to get a few words in and answer rather than leaving him sitting there listening to
you blabber on.
Your Hygiene, guys don t wantto be spending a night with a girl that looks and smells bad. Make
sure you are showering regularly, at least once a day. Washing thoroughly from head to toe may
even include some

The Pope As A Spiritual Place
The Pope is the bishop of Rome and the head of the Roman Catholic Church. The Pope is one of
the most important religious aspect to Christians from all around the world. This means that he
represents Jesus Christ s love and care for every individual. That is why the Pope s priority is to
get to know people, understand how they live, listen to their interests while sharing hardships and
joy. In addition, the Popeis also the Unifier of the People of God. The Pope travels all around the
world, from the richest to the poorest countries to meet with people, learn their stories, and to
bless them. But most importantly, the Pope s roles are known as Biblical, Dogmatic
Development, Church Government and Papal Primacy Teaching Office. The beginning of the
Church was a unique and creative act of Christ, it s a place that brings people together where
experiences are brought to life and shared with one another. The Church is a spiritual place, a
community of believers who all share one common thing; having faith. But in order for the church
to function properly it needs constant guidance to show people its mission. Therefore, Christ
perceived the need that someone should take control and guide the church s mission in the right
direction and also to have a primacy over his Church. So, He laid this authority on Peter until he
would return and take control himself. But the authority or office didn t stay on Peter necessarily,
there came a time that he had to resign and for a new

The World s Greatest Sushi Chef
Regarded by many to be the world s greatest sushi chef, 85 year old Jiro Ono has dedicated his
life to perfecting his craft using only the most delicately cooked rice, and the highest quality cuts of
fish. But in recent years, the fish market has gone sour; the global sushi boom has brought about
overfishing not only on the coasts of Japan, but across oceans worldwide. Overfishing affects more
than just sushi enthusiasts, as it poses a threat of extinction to many species of tunaand sharks.
Whereas traditional fishingtechniques remove a sustainable number of matured fishfrom the
ecosystem, overfishing the two most common techniques of which are purse seine netting and
longline fishing, both used to maximize the number of fish... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Anglers no longer visited them, for all the fish had died. [...] No witchcraft, no enemy action had
silenced the rebirth of new life in this stricken world. The people had done it themselves
(McKibben 366). The people in Carson s town had been given a gift of fruitful nature, but took
more than what the ecosystem could provide until it fell entirely out of balance. Carson predicted
the fate of fisheries across the globe, that they will be drained of their resources until there is
nothing left to take, and the greedy fishermen are forced to move elsewhere. The southern bluefin
tuna, for example, has been placed into the critically endangered category due to both it s large
size, making it easily entangled in fishermen s nets, and their extremely high value a single fish
alone can be worth up to $10,000 in the United States. According to the Washington Post, The total
population of southern bluefin has been reduced to about 8 percent of levels before industrial
fishing (Harden). Because overfishing rapidly catches the fish before they have time to reproduce,
the southern bluefin population has been absolutely decimated, just like the fishless streams that
Rachel Carson describes in her story. The oceans must be given time to rest, in order to recover
from the damage that has built up over the many past decades, as Calvin B. DeWitt states in
Inspirations for Sustaining Life on Earth, we may take the fruit, but must not destroy the fruitfulness

Symbolism In Snowpiercer
In Snowpiercer fish are symbolic of life. Both the fish and the people are stuck on the train, the
fish cannot leave the aquarium as the people on the train are supposed to stay in their designated
cars. They both eat the same food that is designated to them day after day, for just enough
nutrition to live. As well as both the humans and the fish are closely monitored to ensure there is
no overgrowth in population. Curtis and the rest of the people included in the revolution make it
far up the train, but in one car, there is a small army of masked men with axes. Before the battle
takes place, the masked men pierce their axes through a fish, perhaps to intimidate the rebels, or to
poison them with mercury from the fish. It seems the strongest

Notes On Family And Family
family |Л€fam(Й™)lД“| noun ( pl. families )
1 [ treated as sing. or pl. ] a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household.
Over the years, the term family has been greatly expanded from the black and white dictionary
definition you see above. Although a traditional family is usually thought of as a two people
bonded in marriage and their biological children, this is not always true. Personally, I believe that a
family can be anyone who you love and support, and who loves and supports you equally. They
don t necessarily have to be blood related to you or related to you by marriage. Friends can count
as family sometimes as well. A prime example of this in my life is my Uncle Sean. He s not
related to any of the people in my family in fact, he s adopted, so he isn t blood related to anyone
in his own family. However, I still consider him to be one of my closest relatives. He is a friend
of my parents, and he grew up with me more than many of my biological uncles and aunts. His
son is my cousin, and he is my uncle, whether or not we re technically related. There are many
different kinds of families within the society we live in today. There is the traditional family a man
and a woman, married, with biological children between them. But there are also many different
kinds of families adoptive families, families with only one parent, families with parents of the same
gender, families with both biological and adoptive children, families in

My Identity Essay
My Identity What is my identity? I think my identity at the moment is Mexican, 15 years old, a
student, and more. I am still trying to figure out more things of my identity at the moment. For
right now these are some of my identity and things that mean a lot to me. As I said before I am
mexican. Most of my family was born and raised in Sinaloa, Mexico. They were born in a ranch
called La Quebrada de Los Sandovales . Last year I got to go there for the first time. It looks
really old but the river is so beautiful. I loved how the people there knew each other. Since I was
born my mom made me believe in the virgen de guadalupe. She is the mother of Jesus Christ.
Mostly every year On December 12 my family and me go to church to celebrate her. They bring
music to sing to her. It is always beautiful. On this day we also celebrate my birthday. I am so
grateful to be born on this day. As I was saying in the second paragraph, since my parents are
mexican they taught me spanish. Being bilingual for me is so important because I get to help
others. At school there are times are a lot of times I make new friends just by translating things
for them. I am glad I am latina because I know that it will help me in the future some way. There
are some things I like doing with others which are movies and sports. I have always liked
watching movies. I don t really mind what kind of movie it is. I like fantasy movies the best or
non fiction because it is mostly of the time it is filled with

  • 2. Disadvantages of Helicopter Parenting Essay example Helicopter Parenting How does a person grow up to be who they are? Most people say it is determined by the way their parents raise them. The parents that hover close and the parents that give their children space will have children with complete opposite characteristics. Parents that hover close are referred to as Helicopter Parents, and children that are given a lot of space are called Free Range Kids (Rutherford). Although these styles of parenting are vastly different, both kinds of parents are trying to do what is best for their child. Of the two parenting types, helicopter parenting is looked at as a worse method for parenting. There are more negative aspects of it then there are positive. Not only do helicopter parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What may be the most noticeable characteristic of these parents is their over involvement in their child s academics. They see their child s school work and academic activities as something that is for the child and parent together instead of for the child alone (How Not to Be a Helicopter Parent). Therefore, when the child does not do well on any given thing, the parent feels guilty as if it were their fault that the child failed (How Not to Be a Helicopter Parent). The over involvement of parents can make the child develop psychological issues. They are shown to have a higher risk of depression, anxiety, lack self confidence, and have low self esteem ( Helicopter Parents Stir Up Anxiety, Depression). It is shown that no matter what parenting technique is being used, every parents goal is to build their child s self esteem (Rutherford). Sadly, helicopter parenting does the exact opposite. Equally important, the persons lack of self confidence comes from the over involvement of their parents in his/her childhood activities and academics. They never experienced failure or loss because the parents were always there to step in, so they never achieved anything to build their confidence ( Helicopter Parents Stir Up Anxiety, Depression). • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Fingerprinting And Blood Testing Fingerprinting and blood testing are two types of assessments to make a positive identification of a criminal. Since everybody s fingerprints are diverse, it is easy to compare them through a computerized program that forensic scientists use. In order to prove if the DNA of a victim and a criminal match, there are steps that must be followed carefully and correctly. There are many reasons why fingerprinting is used as an important methods for identification (Hall, 2015). As stated by Hall (2015), A fingerprintconsists of several identifiable characteristic, such as loops, arches, whorls, islands, and bifurcations. The arrangement, frequency, and design of these features are among the many characteristics used to distinguish prints from one another (p. 510). Everybody s fingerprints are the same. Fingerprints are kept in Federal and state agencies of the within the law. When someone commits a crime, a forensic scientist takes fingerprints and match them through the database in computers. Since fingerprinting does not go against the Fifth Amendment, a search warrant is not required. Fingerprints can be matched with someone s hair down the color of their eyes. • 6. Summary Of Human Rights Act 1998 Human Rights Act, 1998: The Human Rights Act, (HRA), year 1998, gives vulnerable people who are receiving care, the right to their own: 1.privacy 2.protection 3.involvement in decision making about the care they receive. In some cases, people s rights are restricted due to their mental health issues and their ability to know what is the most suitable for them. This act helps to promote anti discrimination as all people have the same rights and priorities as each other. This act also sets out specific rules and criteria s in which vulnerable individuals should be cared for in order to meet the act s demands and goal. For example, in a nursing home, all residents should have the right to freedom of speech and this must be respected by everyone in the nursing home. This act authorises and allows the Protection of Vulnerable Adults Scheme. This scheme checks to make sure that the care workers are fit for working with vulnerable adults in any Health and Social care sector/ setting. The Care Standards act sets standards for a good service and support for those who are in need of them. This promotes anti discrimination as this act makes sure that the standards of care homes and Health and Social care services are at a good, stable level. This means that staff members will be informed, prepared and trained about the standards and will, therefore, know that discrimination is wrong and unacceptable. • 14. The Consumer Rights Of The Magna Carta 1. In addition to the basic consumer rights expressed in the consumer s Magna Carta, what other expectations do you think consumer stakeholders have of business? The basic consumer rights expressed in the Magna Carta include the right to safety; they want products to be free of pesticides and the drugs we purchase and foods we consume are safe as well as product safety. Secondly, there is the right to be informed, which refers to the right to know about a product, and the use of a product, and this deals with advertisingand marketing. There is also the right to make choices, meaning the competition makes sure there are other options available, and lastly, to be heard, meaning consumers have the right to communicate with business concerning what they may want in a product, and any complaints they may have about a product (Carroll, 2012, p. 392). In addition to these rights, consumers demand fair value for money spent on a product; they also expect a product to meet reasonable expectations, which means the product will as be safe, and thoroughly tested according to regulation and if it is not safe, it should be taken off the market. In addition, consumers expect complete disclosure of the descriptions and design of a product or service, and that there is truth in advertisements (Carroll, 2012, p. 393). 2. Puerto Rico, though a poor colony, was a rich cultural spot in an area of dynamic cultural influence of the Caribbean. The plena, another typical form of Puerto Rican music, was considered the singing newspaper. It was developed at the turn of the century by a lower class mulato population (made up of Puerto Rican freed slaves and migrants from the English Antilles) on the coast. Themes for the music came from the idiosyncrasies and normalcies of daily life, and was incorporated through a narrative verse taken from the Spanish music culture through call and response . Call and response, another African influence, is a component of traditional African musical expression in which a phrase is sung (chanted by part of a group of people and that phrase is responded to by a refrain by the other part of the group. Call and response is a component of the bomba, the plena, and the danza and still exists today as an important ingredient of Puerto Rican music. It facilitates dialogue, and encourages a sense of community by enabling more people to join in, which then closes the gaps between classes and races (Waxer, Oct. 29). The third traditional form of Puerto Rican music is the danza. • 17. Nietzsche Influence Srivaishnav Gandhe Dr.Bird English 453.6 30 Nov. 2017 Thesis Nietzsche and his Influence on the Modern Western World Nietzsche is an atheist, a life affirming nihilist, an extreme pessimist, a trickster, a gleefully defiant irreverent rebel and a sick hero , my father said when I asked, What does Nietzsche mean to you. My father was one of the many people who hated Nietzsche. And maybe he is right in his own perspective because, What do we do when someone questions our existence?. What do we do when someone says God is dead?. What do we do when someone comes and shakes the foundations of our beliefs?. But most of all the question is what do we do when someone questions everything we believe in?. I wouldn t say Nietzsche is telling the truth, because even he doesn t believe in the concept of truth. To put it in his words To tell the truth is to lie according to a fixed convention. So, to me Nietzsche is a not a man who tells you whether your beliefs are true or false, but challenges you whether your belief about your beliefs are soundly premised. He upends your universe, so that you can reharmonize it over, on your own terms. Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche was born on October 15,1844, the son of Karl Ludwig and Franziska Nietzsche. When young Friedrich was about five years old he lost his father. Then soon after that he lost his brother. These events left young Friedrich the only male in the family that included his mother, sister, paternal grandmother and an aunt. Upon the loss of Karl Ludwig, the family moved to Naumburg, Saxony. Friedrich gained admittance to the prestigious Schulpforta, where he received Prussia s finest education in Humanities, Theology, and Classical Languages. In addition, Nietzsche played piano and composed music. In 1864, Nietzsche entered the University of Bonn, spending the better part of that first year unproductively, joining a fraternity and socializing with old and new acquaintances. By this time he had also given up Theology, dashing his mother s hopes of a career in the ministry for him. Instead he choose the study of classical languages and a career in Philology. However, In The Lammas Hireling , the poet takes advantage of the first person point of view, as it s fable like form allows ongoing themes of fantasy and strong emotion to develop. This technique of first person immediately acts as a hook for any reader, as the direct account in the form of a memory, allows for a raw psychological depth to be added to the stanzas. This truthful account of the first person narrative is thoroughly successful, as it allows us to see and understand the graphic imagery produced by the narrator therefore presenting the reader with a vivid insight into the fascinating and intricate world of the narrators mind. However, rather than through vocabulary Doshi is able to use the first person narrative to further enforce the complex relationship with the narrator and their mother, who is the deliverer . The very much bland tone and basic language, full of simple sentences, is lacking description on the whole, which only adds to the dull, thudding rhythm of the poem. We often hear through the various new sources in this country, on the internet or out of the mouths of politicians and experts in the healthcare field about the failing healthcare system in this country. We often hear many different opinions on what needs to be done to fix our healthcare problem within this country and fix what looks to be a very broken system at this point. Significance in Storytelling in the Odyssey Essay Essay One, The Odyssey Steven Botello ENGL 2315: Great Works of Literature I September 16, 2012 Imagine a life without television, no internet, no cell phones, no radio, no movies, and no video games. This was the life during the Odyssey. The storytelling in the Odyssey gave Greek society a way of entertainment. Men, woman, and children would listen to these stories with attentiveness and would then share them throughout their lives. These stories were told in many ways such as in poems, songs, and tales. If not for storytelling in the Odyssey, the story of Odysseus would be a lot shorter, as well as insignificant to Greek society. Nonetheless, through his story telling All [was] made good, [his] heart s desire (13.45). Odysseus felt relieved of his mournful feelings after telling his stories and was eager to get home once and for all. Through Odysseus stories he would engage the listeners by implying that they were there with him, talking to them and involving them as if they were there. Odysseus was the great teller of tales , the man of great wisdom. Alcinous urged Odysseus to keep telling his countless exploits in book 11, and so Odysseus kept on. Alcinous and his men would hold out till dawn s first light if only you could bear, here in our halls to tell the tale of all the pains you suffered. (11.425 28). This is how great of entertainment the storytelling of Odysseus was. His skillful techniques with words grasped the attention and hearts of his listeners. Storytelling has been used to teach moral lessons to adults and even young children and the storytelling done by Odysseus is no different. She asks Padmini to attach the heads to the torsos to bring Devadatta and Kapila back to life. Kali as the Deliberating Shakti, Vimarsha Shakti is the energy of reasoning out and planning the gradual evolution of the universe (Zimmer 211). She is therefore the dual force of action and carries in one hand a sword symbolic of physical extermination and spiritual decision and in the other bowl that yields abundance of food (Seetha 194). This paradoxical creative and destructive force is the pivot on which develops the theme and the action of the play. Goddess Kali who is so indifferent to human concerns exposes the lie in their supposedly religious actions. The dialogues between Kali and Padmini are ironic. Kali recalls her earlier days when she used to be awake because her devotees kept her awake with their deafening racket with drums and conch shells and cymbals (Karnad 141). • 23. Effects Of Race On Housing Issues Essay Given evidence of the effect of race on housing issues, even as it relates to home ownership, an exploration of the empirical evidence in how it manifests within rental markets is necessary. One of the leading researchers in the contemporary study of eviction is Matthew Desmond. In Eviction and the Reproduction of Urban Poverty(2012), he combines statistical and ethnographic analyses to investigate the ramifications of evictionon the lives of the urban poor. The primary independent variable in this study was gender, while the dependent was eviction rates as a percentage. Half of his quantitative analysis involved extracting legal records or court ordered evictions that took place in Milwaukee County between 2003 to 2007 (n=29,960) ( Eviction and the Reproduction 91). Using addresses, eviction records were merged with population estimates of Milwaukee s 880 block groups ( neighborhoods ), and yearly eviction rates for each block group were calculated by gender and pooled to calculate annual averages (Eviction and Reproduction 94). Then risk ratios and differences were determined using 3 different samples: all groups with at least 1 male and female evictee, high poverty block groups where more than 40% of the population lived at or below 150% of the poverty line, and hyper segregated neighborhoods where at least 85% of residents were same race/ethnicity (Eviction and Reproduction 94). What is it that makes him such a powerful leader? What has he accomplished that has made him so significant? Were his accomplishments positive or negative? These are all questions that when combined as one create a debate that has been going on for decades. There are those who admire Alexander s military achievements and ability to carve out the largest empire the world has seen. Then there are those who perceive him as a selfish, cruel madman with drinking problems. He was a self confident man who only wanted to conquer for self pleasure. Alexander is the reason that corruption and peculation were treated with casualness during this time. His pleasure was when his peoples were loyal to him and that was all that was necessary for his approval. It was because of him that Macedonia lost its manpower through the strenuous battles he continuously fought. He left it as a weakened kingdom. His empire is given so much credit but it was only based on rapid military conquest and died right after his death (Stoneman 92 94). It is believed that Alexander conquered to rule, not to blend cultures. Heavy drinking led to disastrous incidents and hastened his death. An example of such a disaster was the burning down of Persepolis in a drunken revel. This is not an attribute of a good leader. He also lacked long range planning and neglected his kingdoms future by exhausting himself in warfare while he delayed fathering a royal successor. His selfishness is proved by his act of casually killing any threats to the throne at the beginning of his reign (Sacks 15). Those who see Alexander in a negative manner obviously have quite strong opinions about it. They see him as more of a madman than the most powerful leader. It is easy to see where they get their assumptions from for they look at the bloodshed part of Alexander s reign. Instead of focusing on the rare ability he had to conquer so ... • 27. Ribosomes In Eukaryotic Cells The nucleus houses most of the genes in a eukaryotic cell. The genetic instructions are housed within a cell, and the instructions are carried out by the ribosomes. The nucleus directs protein synthesis by synthesizing messenger RNA according to instructions provided by the DNA. The mRNA is then transported to the cytoplasm via nuclear pores. The main parts of the nucleus include the nuclear envelope, which encloses the nucleus and separates it from the cytoplasm, which has an outer and an inner membrane. There is a complex of pores that helps regulate entry and exit into the nucleus. The nuclear side of the envelope is lined by the nuclear lamina, which helps maintain the structure of the nucleus. The art of debate has been important throughout the entire history of mankind, often times people with powerful skills for debate earning high powered positions. Today, the process of debate is still regarded as essential in public communications and it can sometimes weigh in the balance between the winner and the loser such as the recent case of the debates between the two presidential candidates, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. In the past, debating in public was reserved to the people who had an innate ability for public speaking; nowadays however, the ability to debate is being taught in educational institutions. When Rockefeller would acquire smaller companies, he would completely shut down the ones he believed were inefficient and keep the ones that he thought he could bring up to his caliber of quality. Unfortunately for the workers from the companies that were shut down, they were put out of work. Rockefeller also began to warehouse oil products in order to have more control over the oil market by having the ability to possess large amounts of oil. Rockefeller had the ability to send in oil, or hold the oil in the warehouses which could cause a riff in the oil market. In order to acquire more business from customers Rockefeller struck a deal with Lake Shore Railroad, to give Standard Oil a 71% discount in return for a promise to ship at least 60 carloads of oil daily and to handle the loading and unloading. This move cut the throats of smaller refineries because they could not produce enough oil fast enough to be able to be offered discounts by railroad companies like Rockefeller did. The Church is a spiritual place, a community of believers who all share one common thing; having faith. But in order for the church to function properly it needs constant guidance to show people its mission. Therefore, Christ perceived the need that someone should take control and guide the church s mission in the right direction and also to have a primacy over his Church. So, He laid this authority on Peter until he would return and take control himself. But the authority or office didn t stay on Peter necessarily, there came a time that he had to resign and for a new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The World s Greatest Sushi Chef Regarded by many to be the world s greatest sushi chef, 85 year old Jiro Ono has dedicated his life to perfecting his craft using only the most delicately cooked rice, and the highest quality cuts of fish. But in recent years, the fish market has gone sour; the global sushi boom has brought about overfishing not only on the coasts of Japan, but across oceans worldwide. Overfishing affects more than just sushi enthusiasts, as it poses a threat of extinction to many species of tunaand sharks. Whereas traditional fishingtechniques remove a sustainable number of matured fishfrom the ecosystem, overfishing the two most common techniques of which are purse seine netting and longline fishing, both used to maximize the number of fish... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anglers no longer visited them, for all the fish had died. [...] No witchcraft, no enemy action had silenced the rebirth of new life in this stricken world. The people had done it themselves (McKibben 366). The people in Carson s town had been given a gift of fruitful nature, but took more than what the ecosystem could provide until it fell entirely out of balance. Carson predicted the fate of fisheries across the globe, that they will be drained of their resources until there is nothing left to take, and the greedy fishermen are forced to move elsewhere. The southern bluefin tuna, for example, has been placed into the critically endangered category due to both it s large size, making it easily entangled in fishermen s nets, and their extremely high value a single fish alone can be worth up to $10,000 in the United States. According to the Washington Post, The total population of southern bluefin has been reduced to about 8 percent of levels before industrial fishing (Harden). Because overfishing rapidly catches the fish before they have time to reproduce, the southern bluefin population has been absolutely decimated, just like the fishless streams that Rachel Carson describes in her story. The oceans must be given time to rest, in order to recover from the damage that has built up over the many past decades, as Calvin B. DeWitt states in Inspirations for Sustaining Life on Earth, we may take the fruit, but must not destroy the fruitfulness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Symbolism In Snowpiercer In Snowpiercer fish are symbolic of life. Both the fish and the people are stuck on the train, the fish cannot leave the aquarium as the people on the train are supposed to stay in their designated cars. They both eat the same food that is designated to them day after day, for just enough nutrition to live. As well as both the humans and the fish are closely monitored to ensure there is no overgrowth in population. Curtis and the rest of the people included in the revolution make it far up the train, but in one car, there is a small army of masked men with axes. Before the battle takes place, the masked men pierce their axes through a fish, perhaps to intimidate the rebels, or to poison them with mercury from the fish. It seems the strongest ... • 45. Notes On Family And Family family |Л€fam(Й™)lД“| noun ( pl. families ) 1 [ treated as sing. or pl. ] a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household. Over the years, the term family has been greatly expanded from the black and white dictionary definition you see above. Although a traditional family is usually thought of as a two people bonded in marriage and their biological children, this is not always true. Personally, I believe that a family can be anyone who you love and support, and who loves and supports you equally. They don t necessarily have to be blood related to you or related to you by marriage. Friends can count as family sometimes as well. A prime example of this in my life is my Uncle Sean. He s not related to any of the people in my family in fact, he s adopted, so he isn t blood related to anyone in his own family. However, I still consider him to be one of my closest relatives. He is a friend of my parents, and he grew up with me more than many of my biological uncles and aunts. His son is my cousin, and he is my uncle, whether or not we re technically related. There are many different kinds of families within the society we live in today. There is the traditional family a man and a woman, married, with biological children between them. But there are also many different kinds of families adoptive families, families with only one parent, families with parents of the same gender, families with both biological and adoptive children, families in ...
