This document outlines the course syllabus for Discipline and Ideas in the Applied Social Sciences. The course will cover topics such as the definition of social sciences versus applied social sciences, the discipline of counseling including its goals and core values, and professionals and practitioners in counseling. Students will complete various activities and case analyses to demonstrate their understanding. They will also work on a group project to create a 5-minute video showing a counseling situation from problem to solution. The project will be evaluated based on content, organization, creativity, and quality of information. During the 4th week, students will take a summative assessment in the form of a first semi-quarterly examination to review the material covered.
