Everything Osterville is the popular guide, stories, articles, dining health and more topics are covered in this beautiful guide that helps support the library.
My first insight into the true spirit of Claremont began on a
hot summer’s day in July. It was Claremont Day and my first
‘official engagement’ as the future head of the Prep School.
Welcome to Heart Streatham June 2018
This month we’re thrilled to publish the Streatham Food Festival’s Food Tour programme and the Toddler Tour. Take a look and get ready for loads of top-notch culinary delights on your doorstep for a fiver or less. Bensons Fun Fair is back in Streatham. Prize draws for free tickets are included in our feature on pg 8.
There's entertainment galore about - see our Fathers day recommends to entertain Dad this month, and Exhibit B have pushed the boat right out with their very popular Drag Brunches. People were shocked and wrote in about the pictures last month so see pg 10 for what all the fuss is about.
We will be doing the definitive guide to what's on in Streatham and the surrounding areas in our July issue next month. So if you have an event this summer, be sure to get in touch to be a part of that!

This presentation aims to separate the fact from the fiction when it comes to nanobubbles. We will explain what exactly a nanobubble is and why there is interest in this area. We will look at some of the standards activity in the area and also some of the characterization challenges associated with measuring nanobubbles. Finally we will look at how three techniques have been applied to measuring nanobubbles based around real data sets and some of the benefits of the different techniques. A narrated recording of this webinar can be accessed at bit.ly/nanobubble

On Friday 24th March 2017 Sciennes celebrated Red Nose Day with a whole school Comedy Festival, designed to develop confidence in public speaking and as part of our Health and Wellbeing programme, in support of Comic Relief. We watched a film about 12 year old Hassan from Sierra Leone and found out how Comic Relief has supported him return to school following the Ebola crisis.
Generous donations and support for P6 led bake sales, friendship bracelet, bath bombs and keyring sales as well as P7 Comedy Book and Red Noses sales have helped our school community to come together to make a difference to others, in the UK and abroad. Thank you.
Some of our pupil jokers took to the stage at Assembly to share funny stories, knock-knock jokes, slapstick and one-liners. Thank you to everyone who took part and will receive a special Red Nose Day certificate next week.
Our P7 House and Sports Captains celebrated many recent pupil achievements and P7 Sports Captain, Robert, reported on recent runaway Cross Country success.

4. Greenhouse
Greenhouse puts inspirational coaches into schools and community clubs to work
with 8 to 18 year-olds. They offer this service across 10 areas; football, basketball,
table tennis, volleyball, judo, swimming, drama, tennis, athletics and multi sports for
young people with special educational needs. Their programmes are open to
everyone but the coaches also target young people most in need of support, such
as those struggling with their education or behaviour. The coaches run full-time
programmes, working with the young people before, during and after school,
weekends and in the holidays. Greenhouse currently have coaches in 37 schools in
London’s most deprived areas. www.greenhousecharity.org
Hope Education
Hope Education began as an Anti-Retroviral Clinic back in 2004 in an Eastern Cape
province of South Africa. Their main aim is to provide each child with a first class
education, transport to and from school as well as nutritious meals and snacks
throughout the day.
All of the children involved with Hope Education are either infected, affected or
orphaned by HIV/AIDS. They all come from homes where the families live way below
the poverty line. It costs Hope Education approximately £64 a month for each
child’s education, transport and meals. The families pay 23% but a large number
of families cannot even afford this. Hope Education cover the costs with income
raised through fundraising activities.
Ealing Foodbank (Trussell Trust)
Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to
receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. Trussell Trust foodbanks provide a
minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis
in the UK.
The Trussell Trust partners with churches and communities to open new foodbanks
nationwide. With almost 400 foodbanks currently launched, their goal is for every
town to have one. Ealing Foodbank went operational on 18th October. People
will have to be referred and receive a voucher, so that only the right people get
help. Without foodbank, people including children in our Ealing community will
go hungry. info@ealing.foodbank.org.uk
