Ballincollig GAA Club
Ballincollig GAA Club was founded in 1886 and this year is proudly celebrating its 125 year
anniversary. The club is home to a Senior Football Team , Junior A,B and C Football, Premier
Intermediate Hurling, Junior A and B hurling, Senior and Junior Camogie and Ladies football section

At the youths level we cater for teams in
every section from Under 11 to Under 18
in the Juvenile section and the fantastically
successul academy runs every Sunday
morning for 6 to 10 year olds.
Our most prominent current players
would have to be Pa Kelly and John
Miskella All-Ireland winners with the
Cork Senior Foobtall Team, and they have
been joined on this years panel by our
Goalkeeper, David Lordan, but Ballincollig
has a long tradition of supplying players
to Cork teams, and the conveyor belt
continues this year with Sean Kiely and
Luke Prendergast representing the Club at
Cork Minor Level.
Over the years Ballincollig has been
proudly served by many Committee
people, Managers and Selectors,
Groundstaff and Support staff, and it is
their tireless dedication to maintaining and
progressing this fabulous Club, that makes
it a great place to be involved in, so please
feel free to come and join us.
And indeed, to demonstrate the shared
sporting history this proud town enjoys,
Ballincollig GAAs current Chairman,
Tommy Weste, will feature on the
Ballincollig Soccer Legends XI, as he won a
Munster Junior Cup with Ballincollig back
in the day. Best of luck Tommy.
Best of luck to all the teams in the Club and indeed the town for the remainder of the year, and
please keep an eye out for when Ballincollig are in Championship action, as your support is always

For players and members it is the green and white of Ballincollig that matters the most. Whatever
a player’s level or aspirations there is a place for him or her with Ballincollig. Work on the new
pitches is nearly complete and the work and indeed the contributions from so many in the town, to
enable us to finish these pitches, is very valued indeed. There is a long and interesting history about
our new Senior Pitch, which we have decided to call The Landing Field and we hope it will continue

11. ultimate frisbee
What is Ultimate Frisbee?
1. Ultimate Frisbee is a 7-a-side non contact sport for men and women.
2. Competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of respect between players.
3. No physical contact is allowed between players.
4. Players resolve their own disputes, there is no referee.
5. Players may not run with the disc. The disc can be moved up the pitch by completing a pass to
a teammate. A turnover happens after an uncompleted pass (drop, block, interception).
6. When the offence completes a pass in the defense’s end zone, they score a point.
7. The first team to score 15 points wins.
ULtimate FrisBee in Cork

Frisbee. It is one of UCC’s premier sports and

Classes are open to both men and women of any experience and fitness level. Classes are self-

Taekwon Do – Korean Art of Self Defence for children and adults
Taekwon Do Class Monday 5pm-7pm, Wednesday 4pm-8pm, Little Ninjas Class: Tuesday 4pm-6pm
We are primarily a junior club and consequently our emphasis is very much on encouraging
children to get involved in martial arts, in particular in Taekwon Do. We start training students at
age 4 in the Little Ninja programme which we’ve been teaching for 10 years and as they progress
through the programme we teach them the basics of Taekwon Do - kicks, punches and non contact
sparring.
We are in the unique position of having our own 1800 sq. ft. martial arts hall which is fully equipped
with a martial arts floor, mirrors, and a full stock of martial arts equipment. Having a dedicated
martial arts facility at our disposal means that we can train in a very safe environment.
Students progress to our Junior Taekwon Do Programme where they climb the grades ladder at
their own pace to eventual Black Belt. This year we started Taekwon Do classes for adults, and this
has been very popular with parents who want to get fit and learn a skill and at the same time be in
a position to help their children with their training.
