Diabetes is a rapidly and serious health problem in Pakistan. This chronic condition is associated with serious long-term complications, including higher risk of heart disease and stroke. Aggressive treatment of hypertension and hyperlipideamia can result in a substantial reduction in cardiovascular events in patients with diabetes 1. Consequently pharmacist-led diabetes cardiovascular risk (DCVR) clinics have been established in both primary and secondary care sites in NHS Lothian during the past five years. An audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery at the clinics was conducted in order to evaluate practice and to standardize the pharmacists’ documentation of outcomes. Pharmaceutical care issues (PCI) and patient details were collected both prospectively and retrospectively from three DCVR clinics. The PCI`s were categorized according to a triangularised system consisting of multiple categories. These were ‘checks’, ‘changes’ (‘change in drug therapy process’ and ‘change in drug therapy’), ‘drug therapy problems’ and ‘quality assurance descriptors’ (‘timer perspective’ and ‘degree of change’). A verified medication assessment tool (MAT) for patients with chronic cardiovascular disease was applied to the patients from one of the clinics. The tool was used to quantify PCI`s and pharmacist actions that were centered on implementing or enforcing clinical guideline standards. A database was developed to be used as an assessment tool and to standardize the documentation of achievement of outcomes. Feedback on the audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery and the database was received from the DCVR clinic pharmacist at a focus group meeting.

Micro RNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs molecules having approximately 18-25 nucleotides, they are present in both plants and animals genomes. MiRNAs have diverse spatial expression patterns and regulate various developmental metabolisms, stress responses and other physiological processes. The dynamic gene expression playing major roles in phenotypic differences in organisms are believed to be controlled by miRNAs. Mutations in regions of regulatory factors, such as miRNA genes or transcription factors (TF) necessitated by dynamic environmental factors or pathogen infections, have tremendous effects on structure and expression of genes. The resultant novel gene products presents potential explanations for constant evolving desirable traits that have long been bred using conventional means, biotechnology or genetic engineering. Rice grain quality, yield, disease tolerance, climate-resilience and palatability properties are not exceptional to miRN Asmutations effects. There are new insights courtesy of high-throughput sequencing and improved proteomic techniques that organisms’ complexity and adaptations are highly contributed by miRNAs containing regulatory networks. This article aims to expound on how rice miRNAs could be driving evolution of traits and highlight the latest miRNA research progress. Moreover, the review accentuates miRNAs grey areas to be addressed and gives recommendations for further studies.

Air pollution occurs when harmful gases or particulates are introduced into
earth’s atmosphere. It may cause diseases, allergies & even death to humans.
It may also cause harm to other living organism such as animals & food crops.
Both human activities natural processes can generate air pollution.
An air pollutant is a substance in the air that can have adverse effects on

Air pollution due to human activities is named as man made air pollution.

Smoke from kitchen caused by cooking released in the air.
Use of refrigerators for household cooling purpose.
Excessive use of pesticides including different sprays (Anti-mosquito, DDT,

Carbon monoxide which is caused by the incomplete combustion released
in air.
Smoke released from buses, cars, motorcycles and other vehicles.

An eruption volcano emits particulate matter and gases, forest fires can
emit large quantities of pollutants.
Dust storms, tornadoes can create large amounts of particulate matter.
Volatile organic compounds, sometimes referred to as VOCs are organic
compounds that easily become vapors or gases.
If we talk about volcanic eruption, it launches a tremendous amount of
soot & ash into the atmosphere along with CO2, CO, oxides of nitrogen &
sulfur.

It is the gradual heating of Earth’s surface, ocean & atmosphere.
As the worldwide temperature increases, it results in melting of polar
icecaps and hence water level will increase.

Harmful gases like NO2 & SO2 are released into the atmosphere during
the burning of fossil fuels.
When it rains, the water droplets combines with these air pollutants,
becomes acidic and then falls on the ground in the form of acid rain.

Ozone exists in earth’s stratosphere and is responsible for protecting
humans from harmful UV rays.
It is depleting due to the presence of CFC in the atmosphere.
