The building went for sale around 2010 and was recently acquired by Urban Splash Development.
The Civic Centre (Council House and South block) will be converted into a gallery.
The gallery will house permanent exhibitions about slavery, temporary spaces for other exhibitions, a restaurant, a roof garden and gallery shop.

The east and west facades have solid even groups of 432 windows set over granite panels. The windows themselves are demonstrated, with recessed
upper windows coated in a prismatic glass that was expected to offer interest and break the consistency of the building in strong sunlight. The green
granite panels beneath the windows are additionally adjusted with a slight variety of shading and arranged in a series of Fibonacci arrangement of
harmonic proportions which was expected to symbolise the diversity of experiences within the building and reduce the dullness of what generally is a
uniform exterior. The building is topped by a `butterfly ' rooftop overhang, which seems unsupported when seen from the ground.
At its base the central part of the tower introduced an open and transparent aspect, being glazed on both east and west faГ§ades, with the entire block
being cantilevered out and "visually" carried on just four columns by the exchange structure at second–floor level. The main entrance, public foyer and

Art Gallery Analysis
The art gallery I visited was the El Paso Museum of Arts on April 8, 2017. After observing a number of paintings and sculptures, I decided to write an
analysis on a rather simple and calm painting. The composition is by American born Susan Ricker Knox and is entitled Afternoon Tea. The artwork
has no specific date but states it was painted in the 1920s. The medium used is simply oil on canvas. The overall compositional subject matter is two
women, sitting back–to–back, enjoying their hour with tea. Afternoon Tea by Susan Knox represents a tranquil scene about leisure time that

All of the hues in the piece either lack are tints or shadows, lacking in saturation. Therefore, when one views this work instead of feeling engulfed or
perhaps even overwhelm by the canvas, like when strong chroma of colors are used, the viewer is relaxed. With the color and brushstrokes, the
composition has a soft and fluffy quality which only adds to the tranquility of the scene. In addition to the lack of intensity of the hues used in the work,
Knox's use of analogous colors supplements the composition's peaceful nature. The umbrella in the background of the composition has a teal hue and
the plant life in the background as well is a shadowed green. The shadowed green appearing first to the left of the umbrella, and to the right of the

encountered in America and was influenced by feminism.
By 1994 many people were familiar with Saville 's massive paintings, such as 'Plan ' (1993) an oil painting on a 9 ' Г— 7 ' canvas, in which a naked

DESCRIPTION OF THE GALLERY The first thing that a visitor notices upon visiting the Sensing Chicago gallery is the tactile experience.
Everything begs to be touched. The exhibits are oriented low to the ground so as to be accessible to the eight– to nine–year–old target audience, and
there are no guardrails of any kind to inhibit accessibility. The labels, the floor, and the exhibits themselves are painted in bold, exciting colors and
the walls are covered with pictures of smiling children and iconic sights of Chicago. It is hard to imagine the space not appealing to the sensibilities of
a young child. The layout of the 1500 square–foot space is physically divided into six areas corresponding with different colors on the floor. Five of

The Basha Gallery Analysis
The Basha Gallery holds a substantial collection of contemporary American Indian and Western inspired art. Some of the pieces were created by artists
with Native American ancestry, Western artists, or by people influenced by American Indian and/or Western culture. The first room in the entrance is
the Basket Room hung on the wall with plaques explaining the symbols appearing on them. The next room is the Main Gallery, filled with paintings
and sculptures focusing on Western and Native American life, holds most of the the collection. The last two rooms are the American Indian Wing and

I don't know anything about Katsinas or their meaning in the tribe that creates them, but I was struck by their creativity and the intricacy in every
doll. Every detail looked like it had been carved with painstaking care and accuracy. I was particularly interested in the Katsinas that incorporate
nature and animals into them. One theme I noted, in many of the paintings and statues was that the majority of american Indians appeared as a regal
and proud figures always seeming to be connected to the Earth in a spiritual way. Since simply looking at the artist's name gives little indication

In 2016/17, we partnered with 33 groups on 24 different projects b)As mentioned above the AGR has expanded partnerships. New partnerships require
a high investment of time to establish. The staff hours continue to be stretched at the AGR, however the payoff of a new partnership, if successful, can
expand resources, build the AGR audience, and allow us to present more programming. This past fiscal year the AGR embarked on a partnership that
was somewhat outside of the standard. This was a partnership with Nature Conservancy Sask to mount an installation called Escape to Nature.
Although not an art project the project did hold artistic merit. The AGR took the risk to pursue this partnership for several reasons. First as a
community hub this project served as outreach to the larger community, second through this partnership the AGR would be able to present an
immersive projection experience in the gallery space – something that is visually powerful to the audience. In most cases the AGR does not have
budget for the rental of this high–end projection equipment and the technicians required – this was a chance to see such a project in the AGR space.
Finally, we knew this was an opportunity to build audience and raise the profile of the gallery. This extended to hosting numerous school groups tour

Brevard Country in the Eau Gallie Arts District. I visited this gallery on September 16th and liked that this gallery is open to the public and has free
admission. The Fifth Avenue Art Gallery contains wonderful art that are all originals. Thesevisual arts come in a variety of forms like painting,

Although "La Rosa" is a digital photograph, the viewer can still see that it is a mixed media piece. While examining this exquisite piece in person, it
is abstractly profound by a technique of how everything is placed together by a collage type of form. The way the emphasis is on the flower is quite
beautiful that brings this photograph together. The variation of colors, writing, and cut–outs shows movement in the piece, yet flows around the flower.

Splendid sculpture with twenty– two arms represent a distinctive form of the goddess that developed in Cambodia in the late century, where eleven

One of the most important aspect of the art world is the gallery space, where they house and showcase the works of art itself. Space where there are
works hung on the walls, sculptures on pedestals, and area where people can go in to observe and experience the works of art. There are tens and
hundreds of gallery spaces in Toronto, and these galleries can generally be categorized in two separate groups : Institutional galleries, and
commercial galleries. Art Gallery of Ontario, more popularly known as the AGO, and Diaz Contemporary Gallery greatly contrasts from each other

The Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is honoured to present an exhibition titled 'Image and Text: A Feminist Narrative', with which it will be opening
its door to the public on the 12th September and closing on the 15th October. When image and text are integrated with one another in the creation of
contemporary art, artists are able to produce powerful and extremely effective messages of their choice. However, just because the image and text are
displayed together, does not mean they relate to each other, as the text can either support the image, or contradict the image in order to demonstrate the
transparency of either or both elements (Williams and Simpson, 1994). Two artists who have been able to incorporate image and text in their pieces

Photo number 38 is two side by side photos of two nude men. In the first image, they are covering themselves with their hands, with small grins on
their faces. The second photo shows them standing more proud, revealing their bodies to the camera, with more serious looks. The caption scrawled
below the images reveals that this is a portrait of Ginsberg and Gregory Corso. Corso was also a writer and poet, popular in the 1960s and 1970s,
who, just like the rest of the Beat generation, was interested in questioning the pre–existing academic, political, and social conventions of the world .
The two nude photographs are so indicative of this movement, because they question societies preconceived ideas of nudity. The idea that the naked
body is something inherently sexual, is a long–standing idea that many people in the Beat generation were questioning. This is not a sexual

Shain Gallery Report
I visited a small gallery in Charlotte, North Carolina called the Shain Gallery. The exhibition that is currently on display is by the artist Arless
Day. The exhibition consists of painted mixed media on canvas (some had frames) and paint on canvas (no frames, on the floor, and leaning on
the partitioned walls). My focus during my visit to the Shain Gallery was on the signage, layout and spacing, lighting, and distractions. When I
walked into the gallery, I did not see any signage for the exhibition. There were cards on a small entry table, but I did not notice them until I was
walking out of the gallery. I would fix this problem by placing vinyl on the wall parallel to the entrance with the name of the exhibition and maybe
adding some arrows for directions. I did not notice the labels for the artwork at first because the text is on a sticker the same color as the walls,
making it look almost translucent. Some of the artwork did not have labels, which was not a big distraction personally, but I think adding labels next
to all the artwork would cause less confusion. The exhibition artwork are placed on and around partitioned walls in the front of the gallery. One
critique that I have about the layout is that I did not know that there were more artwork behind the partition walls and I did not know if the art was a

The artificial lighting are on tracks with no more than five lights on each one. There were no hot spots or dark spots on the partition walls. The
artwork that had natural lighting were behind two out of four partition walls and facing a parking lot. I understand that they were also being used as
window displays, but it was difficult to view the artwork from a nice distance because the partition walls are so close to the windows. I would fix this

Ford Smith : Art Gallery
Ford Smith I went to the Ashley's Art Gallery in Fuquay–Varina and spoke to the gallery owner, Rick Mullen, about local artists. As we walked around
he pointed out some paintings by artists in the triangle area, but what truly caught my eye were two paintings by an artist out of Roswell, Georgia,
Ford Smith. His paintings are very vibrant, intergenic, and bright. They stood out to me among all the art in the gallery. Ashley's Art Gallery is a small
family owned art gallery, that has been in operation since 1973 in Fuquay–Varina. Although Ashley's Art Gallery is small is has been on the Greenwich
Workshop 's top galleries since 1997. They try to be very accommodating to their customers. The gallery is easy to navigate with many different type of
art on display. They feature: jewelry, floral sculptures, pottery, and many different categories of paintings. Seeing art in person is much different than
seeing art in a book, online or projected images. The colors and texture of Smith's paintings are very prominent in person. I noticed from the brochures
that the gallery has of Ford Smith's art, the photographs can't translate the factual colors of his work. The paintings in the gallery stand out and call

On September 18,2017 I visited the University Galleries located at Texas State University had an amazing piece of art on display called The Last
Supper: 700 Plates Illustrating Final Meals of U.S. Death Row Inmates created by Julie Green. Once entering the exhibit the viewers' attention focuses
on the deep black letters painted onto the wall, revealing the statistics of the death penalty in the United States. Moving throughout the room the
inmates last meals were painted onto ceramic plates varying in size and style. Julie Green displayed the ceramic plates in a thick horizontal line on all
four walls of the exhibit giving the viewers' an understanding for each meal. Specifically on plate 66 the artist caught my attention with the color,
texture, and lines illustrated throughout the ceramic plate. The plate was from an inmate in California who requested white meat chicken from Kentucky

Lancer Gallery LLC is a company that has specialized itself has as a reputable dealer in authentic artifacts from Southwestern United States, South
American and African. Their reputation over the past several decades increasingly grew amongst the public through various pieces they placed for
sale, as they were carefully verified for authenticity. Eventually, Lancer Gallery was able to expand their product lines to include replicas that were

Clearly the terms and the offer overall, if accepted, would change the direction of the company and the vision of the business. According to the
president of Lancer there were both upsides and downsides. He claimed that the $4 million would add to the sale number and increase the growth of
the company, increasing revenue erosion. However, the business model would shift to replicas, which was not what Lancer was known for to its
dealers and customers.

Lancer has made its reputation and profit by specializing in procurement; specifically, in a wide variety of South American and African artifacts. In fact,
this specialization, has allowed them to expand its product line a few times since the 1900s. Moreover, the competency in procurement has made them
recognizable to dealers, customers, and mass merchandisers (who are interested in partnering with them in distribution deals).

Currently Lancer seems to have had a solid relationship with their dealers, from a credibility perspective. Over a period of time, they have built their
reputation by providing authentic products, due to their core competency – procurement. One can argue that the increase of competitors, has also added
a strain to the relationship with distributors because of the battle for business.

The Public Urban Multisensory Presentations or PUMP is an art exhibition that displays cross–disciplinary, multisensory, and trans–media exhibitions
from artists all across Southern California. I was lucky enough to attend PUMP's exhibition in Long Beach, which was being hosted by the Long Beach
Arts Council, during their October 7th showing. While I was there, I studied the works of Katie Stubblefield.

The disaster acted as a proxy for growing chain of erratic events of late.
Each print in Katie Stubblefield's Twister series was created from four separate woodcut panels and then transferred onto 12"x16" archival paper
using acrylic print ink and acetate film with image transfers. Displayed on the opposite wall of these prints, were the four woodcut panels use to
create them. I absolutely loved that she did this, as I feel this gave the audience an intimate look on just how these prints came together. Each of her
prints utilized two or more of the woodcut panels – one layered over another, to create a completely new design for each print.
The Twister series is based on real–time reports and dramatic experiences of tornado touchdowns ripping through a forest. The compositions are very
abstract and only contained pure black ink, with slight grey washes, on white archival paper. Each print contained black lines, varying between thick
and thin, which lay on the page vertically and diagonally, giving the illusion of tree branches. The lines met one another in a mangled muddle, as
splotches of black debris washed over them, as the soft grey haze set a somber disposition. Each print follows the tornado at a different time of its
chaotic mayhem within the forest. Along with her forest themed canopy from her Canopy series, which hangs directly above her Twister series, it pulls
the viewer in as if they themselves are right in the heart of the chaos. I think placing these

Art Gallery Observation
The gallery that I attended was the 39th Annual Fall Juried Art Exhibition and as explained in the gallery its purpose is to serve local artists and
allow them opportunities to show their work. This gallery was put on by the Midland Arts Association as well as Midland College and took place
in the McCormick Art Gallery found in the Alison Fine Arts Building. The artists whose pieces could be found in the exhibit are local artists who
range from professionals to students. With over 100 different pieces of art, there were many kinds of media used throughout the exhibit including:

This two dimensional artwork is described as a mixed media piece. Over half of the pieces background is a pattern and repetition of red, blue, and
green squares. This section of the painting appeared to have the texture of something paper like, although I am not entirely sure, but it had some
ripples in the surface of it that paint could likely not accomplish. The main focus of the painting, which is a portrait of who I assume to be David
Bowie was clearly done with some type of paint. This artwork, in my opinion was well executed and proved the artist has a great deal of talent; the
use of color brings emphasis to the main focus of the piece and was a big reason as to why this piece was my favorite in the exhibit and why I
chose to discuss it in this report. Bowie does not appear to be in any specific place, as the background is just patterns and color. The art was unlike
anything else I saw there and gave me feelings of the 1970s, like I was looking into a colorful lava lamp or maybe a kaleidoscope. The artist used
both cool and warm colors, and although the portrait of Bowie is exclusively done with cool colors the red traces in the background is what is most
evident to me when I look at this piece. This is likely due to it being next to the color blue, which is opposite of it on the color wheel. The title is what
poses many questions to me about this piece.

The Art Gallery Analysis
The art gallery accurately represents the industrial revolution because it shows advanced agriculture, increased industrial production, social
integration, and change in political regulations. The industrial revolution increased the ability to farm more crops at a faster rate and hire less
workers. It also helped to create fertilizer and other products that increased the production and growth of the plant. These innovations made jobs that
were otherwise not needed. In picture E, you can see the machines that were used in the field to separate the grain from the stock and turn the stock
into bundles of hay to be sold as feed. The product could also be transferred from one place to another in greater quantity and in a smaller amount of
time. These improvements led to farms that were farther away from the city and had more room to farm because of that. Industry was changed during
the revolution with the invention of the steam engine that allowed the factories to be built in places that were not close to rivers where they use to ...
We have formed labor unions and we are getting paid more. We have been the opportunity decide what social class we choose to live in and we
now have peaceful trade between countries. With the new idea of capitalism and how the private owners sell their goods at a chosen price
opposed to when the country set the price. The price of merchandise has dropped because of competition and the people get more luxuries. The
people also get more clothes because of raised production rate and the lower prices. The people also have a chance to make a name for themselves
if they develop new machines or if they become experts on some of the machines. We also have the ability to choose what type of job we want to do

Locker Gallery Essay
For extra credit, I visited the Locker Gallery on Friday, December 1st. This gallery appeared to have different artist's work present, but their art was
much more expansive, detailed, and followed individual themes compared to Gallery II. The exhibit mainly had paintings on display, but other media
was also incorporated into some pieces. When entering the gallery, a large section of the left walls was taken up by sizable paintings which appeared
to be created by the same artists based on the style and colour scheme. The five pieces consisted of earth tones and incorporated the illusions of light,

This piece was very symbolic and filled with so many aspects that you can notice and analyze new things each time you look at it. On the opposite
side from where I examined the first paintings was another space filled with sizable works. I assume these works were also done by one artist since
like the other large painting collection, it had a distinct colour scheme and style. Some of the paintings were large, quirky portraits of people and
others were solely abstract paint on a canvas. In both the portraits and images, the painting's similar styles and techniques were consistent throughout.
The colour scheme worked with warm colours like oranges, reds, and purples with some browns. One of the standout techniques from this collection
was the use of splatter that had physical weight (check). You could see the various layers on the canvas, which gave the pieces depth. The last piece
I'll talk about is one of my favourites. Across from the long, environmental piece was more of what would be considered an exhibit. "Fresh Meat" was
written on the wall. On the ground was a hand–held shopping cart depicting the Fresh logo on its side. In the middle of the wall, 3 "meat" items were
on display for sale– all of which looked real and ready to buy. There was a ready to bake pizza with mini human legs as a topping, a USDA Grade A
