Decriptive catalogue is the aspects of cataloguing concerned with the
bibliography and physical description of a book, recording or other work
accounting for such items as a author or performer tittle, edition, imprintas
opposed to subject content. It can also be define as the process of
identifyingand describing the bibliographicand physical for physical form
of an item, determining the names and title that will be used as access point
and also for recording data in bibliographic records. AACR II and RD II are
te codes use for descriptive cataloguing.
Purpose of descriptive catalogue
 The part of descriptive catalogue concern with identifying and
describing an items in a bibliographic records and access point.
 Descriptive catalogue deals with physical details of a book such as the
form and choice of entries and the title page.
 Descriptive catalogue include title and edition statement International
Standard Book Number (ISBN)series and note that described important
features of the work such as presence of a bibliography or index.
