History of Anime
HISTORY OF ANIME: Osamu Tezuka

Dr. Osamu Tezuka: Legend. by Brian Cirulnick
Walt Disney of Japan , God of Comics , A Legend in his Own Time . Many of these phrases will
forever be used to describe Dr. Tezuka, but mere words cannot even begin to describe his work,
or how it changed an industry, or even the incredible wealth of material produced by this one man.
As I began to research this article, friends sent me copies of magazines that attempted to detail his
works, and among them, I discovered that the more I learned about him, the more I realized how
little I knew. This single person output more Manga than can be detailed in these pages. The sheer

The work was semi autobiographical, and a very personal piece for Dr. Tezuka. Space Firebrid
broke new ground in animation quality, and became a yardstick to measure all other films by.

Tezuka s Other Life:
While his dual life as Doctor (though he never actively pursued a medical career), and commercial
cartoonist is well known, what many fans of Japanese animation do not know was that Dr. Tezuka
led yet another life within the field of animation, that of an independent producer. Independent
animation is a field usually reserved for the terminology art film , but the genre is an area full of
experimentation, and art styles vastly different from those we see daily. Almost every
modernization in the field of commercial animation was the result of experimentation in styles,
camerawork, and usage of the medium in independent animation.
In 1961, Yoji Kuri started a group known as the Animation Party of Three with Ryohei Yanagihara
and Hiroshi Manabe, and later that year, organized the first Japanese inedependent animation
festival. The very next year, Tezuka joined, and produced two films with his own funds, Story of a
Street Corner, and Male. Over the years he continued to experiment with the medium and
discovered that there was much more freedom in producing his own work in whatever style and
form he

How Did The Schlieffen Plan Cause Ww1
In the early 19th century the Germans started preparing for the Great War also known as the war
to end all wars. Out of this preparation came the Schlieffen Plan. The Schlieffen plan was one of
the major causes of World War One due to militarism. It was created by the German Chief of
Staff Alfred von Schlieffen in 1903. This was a plan was made to wage a two front war on
Russia and France but relied on every part of the plan going perfectly. In response to this France
created its plan XVII relying on Russia for assistance. The causes of the war had been building
up over the years starting with the treaty alliance system. The direct cause of the world war was
the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. He and his wife Sophie were inspecting the army
in Sarajevo after visiting Kaiser Wilhelm II. Also, in Sarajevo were seven Bosnian Serbs, from the
Black Hand terrorist group, that planned to kill the Archduke. Among them were two men named
Cabrinovic and Gavrilo Princip. He then hurled his bomb at the car, only to watch it bounce off the

This plan proposed in which a German attack would be repulsed and then followed up by a
counter attack. The immediate invasion of Germany was also considered as a possibility. The
chief aim of Plan XVII was the recapture of the territory of Alsace and Lorraine. (Godl) The
French heavily relied on the belief that every Frenchman had the fighting spirit instilled in them
that could turn back any enemy. Joffre also had the French forces split up into five armies,
allowing only one army to guard the border between Belgium and France. The rest of the armies
would be sent to attack Germany s eastern frontier. When hostilities arose, the French put their plan
into effect, moving most of their forces to the eastern frontier. Eventually, the Germans repelled the
French and left the French army and Plan XVII in

In most cases, they are created on location, but the decision is influenced by the size and nature of
the project, taking into account the restrictions of the site.
3.1Casting Process Prior to the panels being cast to size, a concrete slab is poured to use as a base
for the tilt up panels to be cast onto.
An engineer is then required to set out boundaries and help in the set up of formwork, which is
then erected in the shape of the panels. This includes making space for openings such as doors
and windows within the design. Formwork is positioned for all panels, in a jigsaw like formation
on the slab, as to allow for steady project flow. Formwork is to be created to such a height as to
allow for multiple castings to be made on top of each other.
The slab is then coated within formwork with a bond breaker as to allow for the most comfort
when tilting up the panels.
As in regular concrete construction, reinforcing is positioned where necessary.
Once everything is positioned as required, concrete is then ready to be poured. When the concrete
has been poured, manual labour is required to trowel for a smooth finish, either by hand or machine
trowel. This can leave a smooth finish, or textured, but must be compliant with designs for
consistency.
With the removal of formwork, and last minute detailing to the panels, they are ready to be lifted
into place.

The Growth And Peak Stage Of A Business Cycle
Business cycles contain several stages which span GDP and time itself. These stages are
growth, peak, recession and a trough or depression. These cycles repeat themselves over and
over through out time in the business world. The growth and peak stage of a business cycle are
when companies are building and providing great products and services. This is also the period
when jobs are most abundant and harder to fill because job positions are in demand. After the
peak stage a risky point in time follows which is the recession stage. During this time people tend
to loose their jobs and it is a much harder time to find a job as well. The depression stage is
depressing to both companies and people because many consumers lose their jobs and can... Show

We entered a depression period and this period lasted longer then some of the other periods in
our history. Many economists wonder why a recovery, which leads out of the depression and
into the growth stage, took longer then normal to begin. When looking back at history, I may
have found the answer. Big spending is required to make companies produce more and the
biggest factor of spending money is war. This paper will examine a close relation in our history
of recession, war, and recovery. Since 1950, there have been many recessions in the US, which
greatly affected all Americans. At the same time there have been innovations, technology,
banking changes and political activities which have been thought to have caused the recessions,
and ultimately fixed the recessions. We will explore a potential relationship between recovery
and war as to the potential for speeding up a recovery. Not too long ago, during the Great
Recession of 2007 2009, employment had peaked in the first part of 2008 and then it declined.
According to McConnell (2015), In the first part of 2010 job growth was very slow to recover
and economists have been vigorously debating why employment recovered so slowly after the
Great Recession of 2007 2009. The Great Recession began December 2007 and ended in June 2009

The Four Characters Of Beowulf And Modern Day Heros
There are two basic types of heroesheros. Some heroes Heros take the direct approach and
overcome obstacles with raw power and strength, both physical and moral. Others use their
intelligence along with trickery and ruthlessness. It is hard for a hero to take a more direct
approach than Beowulf. For example, he rips Grendel s arm right out of its socket! He also shows
moral strength by being champion of the values of his society. There are also some other things
that can differentiate two types heros. The first the type that sees killing as the only solution to a
problem, and the second is one that sees killing as the last possible option and tries to resolve the
situation diplomatically. This is what mainly contrasts Beowulf from modern... Show more content

None of them expected he would ever see his homeland again or get back to his native place and
the people who reared him. Beowulf leaves his homeland to take down Grendel, and eventually
Grendel s mother. Luke left his home to fight the empire who killed his family and to fight to
save the people he cared about. Beowulf also is granted mystical weapons along his journey such
as when Unferth lends Beowulf Hrunting, a sword that has never failed and has been passed down
in Unferth s family, also Luke Skywalker is granted a mystical weapon by Obi wan Kenobi called a
lightsaber. But the things that really separate Beowulf from the two modern heros I have
described are the values of the time periods these stories were written. Like how Beowulf s only
solution to a problem is killing the problem. Whereas in Star Wars, Luke is able to coax the good
out of his father (his enemy) by refusing to fight. This makes Luke Skywalker a modern hero.
Beowulf would never do anything like this. The Values shown in Star Wars reflects the values of
America after the Vietnam War they re vastly different from the values of Anglo Saxon, which the
Epic Beowulf is based off of. Although the journeys may have some differences

The Mafia Did Not Kill John F. Kennedy
Since the death of John F. Kennedy many theories have evolved regarding the individual or
individuals who killed the president. Conspiracy theorist, as well as average citizens, believes
Lee Harvey Oswald did not kill the president, or that he was not the only person involved in the
assignation. According to a 2005 poll 35.90% of the respondents believe someone other than Lee

Many more connections with President Kennedy and the Mafia exist, however the Mafia did
not kill President Kennedy. The Mafia had the motive and the resources to kill the president
(Anders). They also could have easily concealed their involvement in the assignation. For years
prior to the election of President Kennedy the CIA had the phones of various Mafia leaders
tapped (Dallek). On all of the recordings held by the CIA there is no evidence of the Mafia s
involvement with the assignation of the president. It is believed the Mafia had more reason to
kill the Attorney General Bobby Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1968, than his brother the
president. According to Anders ...it s hard to imagine that a group as corrupt as the organized
crime syndicate could have kept this secret for 30 years without a rapid wholesale slaughter of
everyone connected to the killing... Members of the Mafia were investigated and interrogated
over the years. Not one individual implicated the Mafia. Although Dallek states in his book the
Mafia helped to elect Kennedy president there is evidence this did not happen. In his 2006 article
Wood discussed an analysis of the 1960 vote totals from the Mafia controlled election districts in
Chicago. It was found individuals in those areas did not show a significant increase in votes for
Kennedy. The election totals for West Virginia have also been questioned over the years. The
Warren Commission concluded there

Netflix s Dominance Of Our Homes And Screens
Abstract
Netflix started the campaign on a positive note by capturing a larger customer base with DVD by
mail business. The success was short lived due to increasing logistics and inventory cost. Also with
the advent of digital era, DVD by mail fell out of favor. Netflix figured out the loophole and decided
to tap into the online streaming market with content marketing. With exciting new features, constant
updates and recent expansion of customer base by providing its streaming services in India, Netflix
has only grown into a juggernaut.

But Netflix wasn t the only company in the streaming market, it faced competition from Amazon
Prime and Amazon Instant Video, both of which were offered by Amazon.com due to which it
didn t have the meaningful first mover advantage in the market leading to erosion of its profit
margins. Netflix was again forced to evolve its business model and differentiate itself in order to
capture value and regain profitability. The evolved business model focused on content marketing.
Here are few ways the video streaming and DVD by mail giant is winning at content marketing.

offers extremely precise content to consumers through its Recommended For You sections on the

African American Doctors
African American Women in the Healthcare Profession African Americans have endured great
pressure to find their place in American society, as well as among the professional disciplines. In
earlier times, it was extremely unusual for African Americans to be lawyers, doctors, or any other
professional where racial prejudice was a major obstacle. This has changed over time, however, the
ratio of Caucasians to minorities in the professions is still rather unproportioned. It is evident in the
play A Raisin in the Sun that African American
female doctors were almost unheard of during the
time the play was written. The history of female doctors alone was only less than one hundred
years in the making prior to the time period of the play. Over the... Show more content on

The Younger family was aware that there were not many female doctors during that time. They
also knew that women did not aspire to be a doctor but they would rather settle to be a housewife
or nurse. Walter Lee supports this claim in act one scene one by saying, Ain t many girls who
decide....to become a doctor (36). This family represented other African American Families,
therefore it is right to say that other families were aware of this issue. Walter continues, Who the
hell told you you had to be a doctor? ... go be a nurse like other women or just get married and be
quiet (38). As stated earlier, women were expected to marry well to become housewives or, if
they were interested in the healthcare professions, they were only allowed to be nurses. This
traditional mindset was expressed continually throughout this play by several characters, almost all
of the characters with the exception of Beneatha. Beneatha was determined to become a doctor,
although her character was fictional she was not the only Black female who aspired to become
involved in the medical profession. Women who shared similar values to those of Beneatha

Magical Realism and the Sublime in The Circular Ruins Essay
Magical Realism and the Sublime in The Circular Ruins
Among the many short stories that the Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges has written, The
Circular Ruins was published in 1964 in a collection of his works entitled Labyrinths: Selected
Stories Other Writings. Even though The Circular Ruins may be classified as a Magical Realist
text, one may wonder if this short story could be classified as the Sublime as well. By examining
The Circular Ruins, a reader will be able to see several similarities between Magical Realism and
the Sublime.
Of course, the first step in deciding whether or not The Circular Ruins is a type of the Sublime is
to look at some of the characteristics of the Sublime. For instance, ... Show more content on

Since the main character is said to have come from the South where the Zend tongue is not
contaminated with Greek and where leprosy is infrequent, then his origin seems to be quite real
(Borges 45). Another real element is the setting, which is not in some other realm but instead at a
temple in the jungle. However, the magical element of the dreams hints to the reader that the main
character is not from a normal background and that the story is probably just in an imaginary
jungle. Yet, both the reader and the characters in the story accept these unreal elements as being
real. Because of the cross between the real and the unreal, Magical Realism, like the Sublime,
causes transcendence.
According to Longinus, another identifying mark of the Sublime is the use of accumulations,
which are also found in The Circular Ruins. For example, before the magician dreamt his entire
son, he first dreamt his son s beating heart. Over a period of fourteen nights, he carefully examined
this heart until he actually touched it with his finger. After that, he dreamt another organ in the
same manner. Eventually, he even dreamt the eyelids and hair. After finally accumulating all the
parts of the boy, the magician s son was complete and ready to become accustomed to reality
(Borges 47 49).
Identical to the Sublime s characteristic of accumulation in The Circular Ruins is Magical Realism
s characteristic of an extensive

The data for this study on school mobility and math achievement came from the Chicago School
Readiness Program (1728). Random kids were put into Head Start programs that had teacher
trainings and mental health advisers (1728). Chicago was a smart choice to study since that city
has increased poverty compared to other big cities. Throughout the study, there were various
sources that were used to collect different aspects of the effects of school mobility. A main source
was the standardized achievements tests that were given before entrance into the Head Start
program and once they finished. Cognitive dysregulation was also accounted for by the teachers
using a written questionnaire (1729). To gauge the math achievement that the children in the
program had been working toward, a test known as the ISAT, was given around their fifth year
when a majority of the participates were in fourth grade (1729). This specific test allowed the
researches to gain access to the progress or failure in math that the students were projecting. The
cognitive dysregulation was accounted for in their fourth year by using the Barrett Impulsive Scale

Latino Americans And Hispanic Americans
Hispanic Americans are the largest minority group in the United States. They make up
approximately 16 percent of the country s population. They are considered both an ethnic and a
racial minority group. Their language, a cultural characteristic, identifies them as an ethnic minority
group. Their physical appearance identifies Hispanic Americans as a racial minority group(Healy
2012).
The majority of the Hispanic American population is located in the southwest part of the country.
The three largest populations of Hispanic people include immigrants from Mexico, Cuba, and
Puerto Rico. Most of the Hispanic Americans that live in the southwest part of the United States
come from Mexico. The majority of the Cuban population lives in or around the Miami Florida
area. The Puerto Rican population typically resides in the northeast corner of the United States
including New York and New Jersey (Healy 2012).
Although the Hispanic Americans share a language and certain customs, they are widely diverse
and consider themselves different social entities. Some Hispanic Americans made this country their
home long before the founding fathers arrived and signed the Declaration of Independence (Healy
2012).
The Latino population is growing rapidly. This is caused by a combination of their high birthrates
and of immigration. However, the Mexican Americanpopulation has a growth rate above the
national average. Between 1890 and 2009 their population has more than doubled (Healy 2012).

The article I chose is about spider monkeys and a problem scientists have found with their

healthy before they all die off. It was found that by grooming each other, they are getting off
parasites on the skin but also ones from inside. These parasites can be found on dead skin that the
other monkeys end up pulling off during grooming which then transmits to the groomer. Since the
monkeys don t stay around the same group all the time, this parasite gets transmitted more easily
and quickly. Now scientist can begin to work on trying to save these monkeys and other endangered

Construction Of Roads For Black Cotton Soil
INTRODUCTION :
Construction of roads in black cotton soil areas has been problematic due to their low bearing
capacity and the detrimental effects of volume instability arising from swelling and shrinkage
characteristics of such soils during wet and dry seasons.
Such problems assume greater acuteness where the water table is high and clayey subsoil stratum
is thick.
A Perfect example of a case history study can be considered from Gudivada Bantumilli State
Highway, which passes through a plain terrain surrounded with paddy fields, and constructed on a
black cotton soil embankment of 3mts height. The entire stretch of the road is located in the delta
region of Godavari and Krishna rivers, of the south eastern part of India. The pavement on the
embankment was in a state of extreme distress. Lateral shift and settlement in embankment were
the common soil failure features observed. TWO METHODOLOGIES USING LIME :
Method 1 Injection of Lime Slurry
Method 2 Placement of Lime Piles
Method 1 : To verify the efficacy of the technique, laboratory experiments were conducted at Central
Road Research Institute
India on a test embankment of 2.5m x 2.0m x 2.5m made from the locally available silty soil
having a dry density of 16 kN/m2. Lime slurry was injected in one side of the embankment. The
injected lime contained 30% lime by weight in the mixture of lime water.

Forced Vital Capacity Case Study
Purpose and Prediction In this study I am observing the effects of gender on forced vital
capacity (FVC) and the relationship between torso length, height, and torso/height ratio on
forced vital capacity. To look at FVC I am interested in looking at the largest amount of air a
person can forcefully exhale and continue exhaling for 6 seconds after breathing in as deeply as
a person can. If gender has an effect on FVC then males will have a greater FVC than the FVC
of females. If there is a correlation between height and FVC, then as height increases so will FVC.

What Is A Random Act Of Kindness
Random Acts Of Kindness That Shouldn t Be Random Many people have a perception that a
deviant act must be something negative that unbalances the norms of society. However that is
not always the case, a deviant act could be one that is positive. According to Merriam Webster
deviant is defined as different from what is considered to be normal or morally correct. So it
comes down to what is considered to be normal behavior, and believe it or not going out of your
own way to help others or being randomly kind to strangers is not considered to be normal. Why
though, why do these acts of kindness towards others have the potential to be reacted to in a
negative fashion? In Ed and Deb Shapiro s article Why Random Acts of Kindness are So Important,

On October 4th I ran in the Rugged Maniac, a 3.6 mile obstacle course through mud, water, and
fire. I decided that during the course of the race I would go out of my way to help others over
obstacles, provide encouraging words, and keep a smile on my face. However going into the
race I already knew how my actions would be perceived. During the race there were multiple
times when I assisted another in pulling them up over an obstacle or boosting them up over an
obstacle, and each and every time everyone was appreciative and usually helping the next person
that came behind them. The difference with this act is the community that it is preformed in. I
ve previously ran the Rugged Maniac at an earlier date and also the Tough Mudder. People who
participate in these events are a special kind of person, they all go out of their way to help each
other and when someone does help another it isn t looked at as odd or deviant, where as if they
were openly helpful out in the rest of the world. These mud runs are like families and they don t
look at how fast someone finishes the course but rather at making sure you do finish. Why do
people have to be covered in filth and running for miles to experience the kind of generosity that
should be present in day to day life? Honestly I don t have an answer other then its just part of the
race, and that feeling

How Does Charles Bukowski Use Figurative Language In The...
Inner strength is not about how many push ups or sit ups you can do. It is about how we keep
trudging on, instead of giving up. This is proven to be true in the two poems The Laughing Heart
and The Journey . These poems are all about how your inner strength allows you to keep on
going, when the going is tough. The poets astutely describes how much it takes to keep going and
not give in. The poets do this by using figurative language, tone, and diction. In The Laughing
Heart the poet (Charles Bukowski) uses figurative language to embrace the fact that some people
try to tempt you to do what they think is best. So the poet stated Don t let it be clubbed into dank
submission (Bukowski 2). The poet is trying to tell the audience that you... Show more content on

In the poem The Laughing Heart the poet sets a tone of direct. The poet made the tone by being
stern and candid in the way he wrote. Your life is your life (Bukowski 1). The poet was being
very frank in the way he stated that line. He was describing it that way on purpose so the readers
would start out thinking of this being very direct and to the point . Similarly the poet of The
Journey set multiple tones which consisted of anxious and hopeful. Towards the beginning she
stated their bad advice through the whole house began to tremble and you felt the old tug at
your ankles (Oliver 5 9). That statement alone was a major indicator of the tone anxious. It was
showing how all the anger and bad advice puts stress on people. But the tone quickly changed
towards hopeful when in the lines twelve and thirteen the poet stated But you didn t stop. You
knew what you had to do, . It shows that the poet won t be stopped or held back by others who
treat her wrong. She will keep on moving and not stopping when she is challenged by fear and
redundant bad advice telling her otherwise. That is why the poet wrote the poem that way, so
others could see that they need to move on and not stop and stay

Pliny The Patrician Upper Class
Leisure as a concept is not easy to define, and is subject to differing opinions and class structure.
Where a working class person may define leisure as a way to display wealth, conversely, the upper
class may simply view leisure as a means of having free time away from the demands of work or
duties. In Ancient times, leisurewas possible, due to the work of slaves and poorer citizens (Price,
2008 p 10). Whilst leisure has always been associated as a pursuit for the wealthy, in the19th
century with the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, and the development of the railway, this began
to change. The working classes had more disposable income, and the opportunity to travel cheaply
and experience freedom from work (Price, 2008 p 7). This assignment... Show more content on

In the eighteenth century, art historian and scholar Lord Burlington, designed an addition to

Chiswick House, with its naturalistic gardens, and lavish interior, is an ideal place for the display

guests, whilst instilling his social standing within society. The pressure to conform to such society,

Art Therapy And Bulimi The Definition And Categorization...
Art Therapy and Bulimia The definition and categorization of bulimia nervosa (BN) are
addressed in the beginning of the paper. As there are many medical concerns that influence and
accompany treatment, a brief overview of these concerns is provided. Next, the focus shifts to the
population most affected by the disorder and risk factors for development of BN. A discussion of
co occurring disorders follows due to the fact that BN sufferers often experience one or more co
occurring disorders or differential diagnoses that may further complicate a clinician s plan for
treatment. After an explanation of the disorder and its facets, general information about treatment
is described including several therapeutic themes and challenges. Next, specific types of treatment
are discussed, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and
reprocessing (EMDR), and psychopharmacology. An option for adjunctive treatment, art therapy,
is described along with its many advantages for treating clients with BN including the benefit of
clients relationship to the materials. This is further explored by describing art therapists ability to
aid clients in creating boundaries, relating to their bodies, and expressing and managing emotions.
Several aspects of group art therapy are discussed. Then the focus of the paper turns to a variety
of art therapy directives to demonstrate how art therapists can use art as part of the process of
recovery from BN. Finally,

The Machiavellian Cosmos
Anthony Parel s book, The Machiavellian Cosmos, written in 1992, argues that Machiavelli does
not fit the Renaissance description of what a Christian entailed. He like some of the other authors
discussed in this book, state that Machiavelli believed Christianity made the world weak, and
encouraged Christians to suffer injuries rather than to avenge them. The books main discussion
depicts heaven as a non religious place in Machiavellian ideology, instead he hearkens back to the
ancients teachings on the heavens. Heaven entails astrological connotations in Machiavelli s works,
which gives Machiavelli a certain type of naturalism. Parel s book appears difficult to read, as he
makes odd arguments concerning astrology affecting Christianity

The impact of the extensive exposure can be beneficial or harmful to companies and their brand
depending on certain situations. Dow is an example of a company who have received negative
publicity during the Olympic Games. The company has been criticized for its alleged involvement
with the pesticide plant accident that killed thousands of people in India. Almost all publicity
from Dow becoming one of the eleven major games sponsors has been negative, and just about
every story written about Dow associates the company s name with Bhopal, one of the world s
worst industrial disasters (MSNBC, 2012). Rights groups, athletes, and politician have spoken
out against Dow and signed petitions against Dow s participation. The company paid nearly $11
million for fabric panels to wrap around the London Olympic stadium, but to assuage public
protest, Dow agreed not to put its logo on the decoration (MSNBC, 2012). In this case the
publicity was negative and possibly could have been avoided had Dow not opted to join the
other sponsors. Although there is a possibility for negative publicity, opportunity to reach global
audiences greatly outweighs the potential for negative publicity. Billions of dollars are spent by
businesses to win the hearts and minds of a global audience. Visa paid around $100 million for

written in a certain time and place, to a certain audience, with a certain meaning intended by the

patriarchal narratives throughout the Near East during this time. In fact, the accounts in Genesis
took place at a later time than some of the other literature in the Near East. It also could be argued
that the authors of Genesis were influenced by the culture in their writings. The goal will be to

Why or why not? The short answer to this question is yes. Genesis s flood story can be thought
of as written by other couple sources, authors J and P (Hays 90). Author J is the older
manuscript and Author P is the redactor. Author J is identified because of the use of Yahweh.
Author P is likely the priestly redactor that would not use the holy name of Yahweh. Priest would
instead us the word Lord. Another way source division is identifiable is through doublets that
seem to occur throughout the Genesis narrative. Some of the doublets contradict one another
therefore leading one to believe there are more than one author. For example, Author J states that
seven pairs of ritually clean and one pair of unclean animals were taken aboard the Ark then 40
days of rain ensued. The later redactor, Author P , seems to transpose a different (Babylonian)
account of 2 pairs of animals and 150 days of rain (Hays 91) Best explanation is that P and J has
been harmonized over time, both full stories, then redaction by a later

Anti-Semitism And The Holocaust
The Holocaust is not just a historical tragedy; it is a contemporary issue. Today is not a day to sit
back and relax. Genocides and mass atrocities continue to be an enormous challenge. To prevent
such atrocities in the future, individuals must nurture peace and human rights now. Education about
risk factors, warning signs, and triggering events that have contributed to genocide in the past is
important so that all individuals can fight discrimination and hatred today.
However, the groundwork for the Holocaust stretches back centuries. Anti Semitism was not a new
concept in the mid 20th century; it was widespread in many countries prior. It dates back before the
Middle Ages to ancient times, although Anti Semitism certainly was strengthened by the medieval
Church. Christian beliefs as well as folk ideas of Jews as evil are now seen as distorted, but have
nonetheless influenced people and politics today (Wood 24).
Hundreds of occurrences and perceptions built up to the hatred of all Jews. A few include the
Protocols of the Elders of Zion which was a conspiracy against Jewish leaders, the Dreyfus Affair
which exposed anti Semitism in France, hundreds of pogroms (organized massacres) against Jews
since the 17th century, malicious rumors, and many more acts of inequity (Wood 25). Anti
Semitism, the hatred of all Jews, didn t begin in 1933 when Nazi rule put racist ideas into practice;
the Nazi regime took existing aversions, exploited them, and augmented them.

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Parent Staff Communication
The main weakness of this study is the fact that the study is exploratory. There was no control
group to compare scores of the PROMIS or PSS NICU. This study just shows how scores went up
with length of NICU stay. However, this does provide another instrument that can be used to assess
parent health. Parent Staff Communication Wigert, Delienmark, Bry (2013) explored the strengths
and weaknesses of staff communication in the NICU. They gave 270 parents a 16 question survey
with answers using a Likert scale. A common statement from most parents was that they had
received information from nurses and doctors and when they did the information was easy to
understand. Some parents felt the staff did not understand their situation. There was a significant
difference at the .05 level between parent communication with nurses versus doctors (Wigert, Blom,
Bry, 2013). There was also some poor information giving between nurses, showing a lack of
communication between nurses. Doctors and nurses were continuously seen as professional. This
study had a decent size sample and a consistent survey for all parents to take. There was a look at
communication between hospital staff regarding patients. As well as, a comparison between
doctors and nurses. This gave this study some unique factors not seen in other studies. When
looking at doctor versus nurse communication and communication between hospital staff seeing
what parents felt while at the hospital with their child. Doing a

Academic Plagiarism And Academic Dishonesty
Have you ever shown up to class totally forgetting to look over the notes and study guide for the
chapter test that day? Lack of preparation is a huge contributor to academic dishonesty. Forgetting
to study can cause those who would not usually cheat to stoop low and look at someone else s
work. Some students rely on cheating to make their way through high schoolor college. Academic
dishonestyis a way lazy students take advantage of hard working students. Whether the academic
dishonesty is caused because of the lack of preparation, a poor work ethic, or by having a poor
home life; it usually leads to violating academic dishonesty school policies and leading to short term
and long term effects. One day I showed up to my government class, my first block of the day. I
did not believe we had any assignments, so I had not brought home any class materials the day
before. I walked into the classroom and asked the teacher what the day s plan was. He
immediately raised his eyebrows and said, Well, we have our chapter 3 test today. Immediately
shocked, I panicked. This situation is how many students fall into the cheating trap. This panic
has caused plenty of students to wander their eyes to surrounding test looking for answers.
Thankfully I knew that cheating was not the answer. I respectfully told my teacher what had
happened and he allowed me to briefly review my notes before I took the test. My lack of
preparation could have caused me to very easily cheat off of my

A Historical View of Egyptian s Mathematics System
In historic times; math was well known for helping Egyptian people keep track of their property,
money, taxes, livestock, land and sometimes people. Math did indeed help the Egyptian community

These procedures include tolerance tests. One test is the epinephrine tolerance test. Another test
is the glucagon tolerance test. There were some issues with the glucagon tolerance test
according to Fernandes (1969). This test had some issues in diagnosing liver disease because it
showed that some patients had high rise in blood glucose levels. This was an issue because
many normal and healthy children have high levels of blood glucose and since some of the
patients they were testing were children, the results were inconclusive and could not necessarily

gave good results if it was used on older patients to whom they could dictate if their blood
glucose levels were too high compared to a healthy adult, which would then determine if they had
liver glycogen disease. Also this test could be performed after the patient performed a long fast, in
order to lower their blood glucose levels. This fast is commonly eight

The Core Values Of Zappos
The holacratic model has, already, been adopted by for profit and non profit organizations in several
countries. For the purpose of an incubation chamber, Zappos.com has been the first organizational
reality to deploy it. Zappos is an online shoe and clothing shop founded in 1999 and owned by
Amazon since 2009. During the negotiations with Amazon, internal management s primary concern
was to maintain the company culture intact throughout the acquisition process, because a culture
that embraces the idiosyncrasies of each individual is what keeps the firm alive and healthy. Such
an emphasis on employees manifested itself in drawing up the ten core values of the Zappos family:
deliver wow through service;
embrace and drive change;
create fun and a little weirdness;
be adventurous, creative, and open minded;
pursue growth and learning;
build open and honest relationships with communication;
build a positive team and family spirit;
do more with less;
be passionate and determined;
be humble.
The company has, even, its own consulting unit to help others emulate the Zappos way and
folklore. In 2015, Zappos formerly adopted Holacracy. One of Holacracy s most significant
innovations is making governance something that happens at every level of the organization.
Governance becomes an ongoing process that happens in each circle, during the ... Show more

The business of designing and developing games also fits these criteria well, as Valve discovered.
From Holacracy, in fact, Valve took the flat organizational structure, the focus on project teams and
the fluidity of roles: everyone is a strategist , everyone is a designer, everyone can rightfully

The Ethics Of A Practising Solicitor Essay
The main argument introduced in the debate considers whether a practicing solicitor can adhere
to the traditional values of moral and ethical integrity that have been reinforced through a set of
principles such as the Solicitors Regulation Authority Code of Conduct (SRA). The latter
consists of ten mandatory principles that are the professional requirements expected of any
solicitor. Traditionally, ethical and moral truthfulness have formed the basis of a competent
lawyer and thus when adhering to the traditional principles placed upon lawyers, a lawyer was
thought to abide to moral standards. I will aim to tackle the debate by arguing that the SRA
provides a framework that allows lawyers to be good people. Secondly, I will also be discussing
a lawyer s moral responsibility. and that whilst The lawyer is conventionally seen as a
professional devoted to his client s interest and...required, to do some things for that client which
he would not do for himself his moral responsibility must not violate the SRA Code of conduct.
Finally, it is imperative to explore the ethical dilemmas solicitors face when attempting to make
their clients interests their own. 2. A lawyer s professional duty to their client The SRA Code of
Conduct concentrates on the protection and benefit of clients and the public and ultimately forms
the foundation of a good lawyer. Although pervasive, principles two, four and six support my
argument on how a lawyer can, indeed be a good person. Firstly,

South East Asian Crisis
INTRODUCTION
The South East Asian financial crisis was a period of financial crisis that gripped much of Asia
beginning in July 1997, and raised fears of a worldwide economic meltdown due to financial
contagion. The crisis started in Thailand with the financial collapse of the Thai Baht caused by the
decision of the Thai government to float the Baht, cutting its peg to the USD, after exhaustive
efforts to support it in the face of a severe financial overextension that was in part real estate driven.
At the time, Thailand had acquired a burden of foreign debt that made the country effectively
bankrupt even before the collapse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Western importers sought cheaper manufacturers and found them, indeed, in China whose currency
was depreciated relative to the dollar.
Lessons for the developing countries from the Asian crisis: 1. Need for great caution about
Financial liberalization and Globalization
One of the most important lessons from the Asian crisis is that it is prudent and necessary for
developing countries to have measures that reduce its exposure to the risks of globalization and
thus place limits on its degree of financial liberalizations. In a globalized world, developing
countries often face tremendous pressures coming from developed countries, international
agencies, transnational and national companies to completely open up their economies. It is
proven that liberalization can and has played a positive role development, however; the Asian
crisis has shown up that in some circumstances, liberalization can play havoc, especially on small
and dependent economies. This is more so prominent in the field of financial liberalization, where
lifting of controls over capital flows can lead to such extreme results as a country accumulating a
mountain of foreign debts within a few years, the sudden sharp depreciation of its currency, and a
sudden rush of foreign owned and local owned funds out of the country in a few months. So,
* Developing countries should exercise caution while

Motifs In Creation Myth
What is a motif you may wonder? What do they consist of and how do they change the thoughts on
how we were created? A motif is something that you see in one creation myth, that is found in many
others. Motifs show us that certain pieces of different religions are the same, or could be connected
completely. When the same motifis repeated over and over it can show us different connections and
new information on more than one creation myth. I will be explaining three different motifs, our
creator cares for their creations, the creator is invisible, and is the earth made of organic materials.
I find it important how the gods/higher power, cares for their creations, because without them we
wouldn t exist.
In most creation myths, the creator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Cheyenne creation myth, the God Maheo creates the sky, the light, water, and animals
before creating land. Maheo only had the power to create four things on his own, and turned to
the help of his creations. One little coot was able to swim to the bottom of Maheo s lake and
retrieve mud, so that the earth could be made. Once Maheo had the mud, he was able to make it
grow and expand until he could no longer carry it. Grandmother turtle was able to carry the ball
of mud and it grew more once placed onto her back. Maheo says that the Earth shall be known as
Grandmother, and that her and all of her offspring would be slow; because they carry the weight
of the world on their shoulders. Maheo felt that she shouldn t be lonely, so he pulled out his
right rib and breathed on it. Moments later; the first man stood and walked, but Maheo still didn
t want man lonely in the void that Earth would be, so he pulled out his left rib and breathed the
first woman to be. He watched them grow, and build more tribes each year. He created animals
for food, clothing, etc, and made sure that his children would have what they needed in order for
survival. The myth says that Maheo cannot be seen, but that he is everywhere watching over us.
That is one of the few creation myths where our creator leaves behind all of their creations. Like
in the Theogony which is the greek creation myth, Prometheus created man after four failed
attempts and then left his creations behind. Then he was ordered by Zeus to be tortured for
making humans to god like. In the Norse creation myth, the Elder Eddas gave Odin permission to
create humans, he did so first while being drunk and vowed to never drink again. Once sober, Odin
re creates man and then protects, and watches over the deformed humans that he first created. Our
creators leave us but for what reason?

Independent animation is a field usually reserved for the terminology art film , but the genre is an area full of experimentation, and art styles vastly different from those we see daily. Almost every modernization in the field of commercial animation was the result of experimentation in styles, camerawork, and usage of the medium in independent animation. In 1961, Yoji Kuri started a group known as the Animation Party of Three with Ryohei Yanagihara and Hiroshi Manabe, and later that year, organized the first Japanese inedependent animation festival. An engineer is then required to set out boundaries and help in the set up of formwork, which is then erected in the shape of the panels. This includes making space for openings such as doors and windows within the design. Formwork is positioned for all panels, in a jigsaw like formation on the slab, as to allow for steady project flow. Formwork is to be created to such a height as to allow for multiple castings to be made on top of each other. The slab is then coated within formwork with a bond breaker as to allow for the most comfort when tilting up the panels. As in regular concrete construction, reinforcing is positioned where necessary. Once everything is positioned as required, concrete is then ready to be poured. When the concrete has been poured, manual labour is required to trowel for a smooth finish, either by hand or machine trowel. This can leave a smooth finish, or textured, but must be compliant with designs for consistency. With the removal of formwork, and last minute detailing to the panels, they are ready to be lifted into place. 3.2Installation/Tilt Up Process Due to

Many economists wonder why a recovery, which leads out of the depression and into the growth stage, took longer then normal to begin. When looking back at history, I may have found the answer. Big spending is required to make companies produce more and the biggest factor of spending money is war. This paper will examine a close relation in our history of recession, war, and recovery. Since 1950, there have been many recessions in the US, which greatly affected all Americans. At the same time there have been innovations, technology, banking changes and political activities which have been thought to have caused the recessions, and ultimately fixed the recessions. We will explore a potential relationship between recovery and war as to the potential for speeding up a recovery. Not too long ago, during the Great Recession of 2007 2009, employment had peaked in the first part of 2008 and then it declined. According to McConnell (2015), In the first part of 2010 job growth was very slow to recover and economists have been vigorously debating why employment recovered so slowly after the Great Recession of 2007 2009. In earlier times, it was extremely unusual for African Americans to be lawyers, doctors, or any other professional where racial prejudice was a major obstacle. Even though The Circular Ruins may be classified as a Magical Realist text, one may wonder if this short story could be classified as the Sublime as well. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the main character is said to have come from the South where the Zend tongue is not contaminated with Greek and where leprosy is infrequent, then his origin seems to be quite real (Borges 45). Another real element is the setting, which is not in some other realm but instead at a temple in the jungle. However, the magical element of the dreams hints to the reader that the main character is not from a normal background and that the story is probably just in an imaginary jungle. Yet, both the reader and the characters in the story accept these unreal elements as being real. Because of the cross between the real and the unreal, Magical Realism, like the Sublime, causes transcendence. According to Longinus, another identifying mark of the Sublime is the use of accumulations, which are also found in The Circular Ruins. For example, before the magician dreamt his entire son, he first dreamt his son s beating heart. Over a period of fourteen nights, he carefully examined this heart until he actually touched it with his finger. After that, he dreamt another organ in the same manner. Eventually, he even dreamt the eyelids and hair. After finally accumulating all the parts of the boy, the magician s son was complete and ready to become accustomed to reality (Borges 47 49). A Perfect example of a case history study can be considered from Gudivada Bantumilli State Highway, which passes through a plain terrain surrounded with paddy fields, and constructed on a black cotton soil embankment of 3mts height. In the poem The Laughing Heart the poet sets a tone of direct. The poet made the tone by being stern and candid in the way he wrote. Your life is your life (Bukowski 1). The poet was being very frank in the way he stated that line. He was describing it that way on purpose so the readers would start out thinking of this being very direct and to the point . Similarly the poet of The Journey set multiple tones which consisted of anxious and hopeful. Towards the beginning she stated their bad advice through the whole house began to tremble and you felt the old tug at your ankles (Oliver 5 9). That statement alone was a major indicator of the tone anxious. It was showing how all the anger and bad advice puts stress on people. But the tone quickly changed towards hopeful when in the lines twelve and thirteen the poet stated But you didn t stop. You knew what you had to do, . It shows that the poet won t be stopped or held back by others who treat her wrong. She will keep on moving and not stopping when she is challenged by fear and redundant bad advice telling her otherwise. That is why the poet wrote the poem that way, so others could see that they need to move on and not stop and stay ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Where a working class person may define leisure as a way to display wealth, conversely, the upper class may simply view leisure as a means of having free time away from the demands of work or duties. In Ancient times, leisurewas possible, due to the work of slaves and poorer citizens (Price, 2008 p 10). Whilst leisure has always been associated as a pursuit for the wealthy, in the19th century with the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, and the development of the railway, this began to change. As there are many medical concerns that influence and accompany treatment, a brief overview of these concerns is provided. Next, the focus shifts to the population most affected by the disorder and risk factors for development of BN. A discussion of co occurring disorders follows due to the fact that BN sufferers often experience one or more co occurring disorders or differential diagnoses that may further complicate a clinician s plan for treatment. An option for adjunctive treatment, art therapy, is described along with its many advantages for treating clients with BN including the benefit of clients relationship to the materials. This is further explored by describing art therapists ability to aid clients in creating boundaries, relating to their bodies, and expressing and managing emotions. Several aspects of group art therapy are discussed. The books main discussion depicts heaven as a non religious place in Machiavellian ideology, instead he hearkens back to the ancients teachings on the heavens. Dow is an example of a company who have received negative publicity during the Olympic Games. The company has been criticized for its alleged involvement with the pesticide plant accident that killed thousands of people in India. Almost all publicity from Dow becoming one of the eleven major games sponsors has been negative, and just about every story written about Dow associates the company s name with Bhopal, one of the world s worst industrial disasters (MSNBC, 2012). Rights groups, athletes, and politician have spoken out against Dow and signed petitions against Dow s participation. The company paid nearly $11 million for fabric panels to wrap around the London Olympic stadium, but to assuage public protest, Dow agreed not to put its logo on the decoration (MSNBC, 2012). In this case the publicity was negative and possibly could have been avoided had Dow not opted to join the other sponsors. Although there is a possibility for negative publicity, opportunity to reach global audiences greatly outweighs the potential for negative publicity. In fact, the accounts in Genesis took place at a later time than some of the other literature in the Near East. The goal will be to show how each kind of narrative is both similar and dissimilar so that the Genesis narrative is brought more into focus and understood more clearly. What issues do... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why or why not? The short answer to this question is yes. Genesis s flood story can be thought of as written by other couple sources, authors J and P (Hays 90). Author J is the older manuscript and Author P is the redactor. Author J is identified because of the use of Yahweh. Author P is likely the priestly redactor that would not use the holy name of Yahweh. Priest would instead us the word Lord. Another way source division is identifiable is through doublets that seem to occur throughout the Genesis narrative. Some of the doublets contradict one another therefore leading one to believe there are more than one author. For example, Author J states that seven pairs of ritually clean and one pair of unclean animals were taken aboard the Ark then 40 days of rain ensued. The later redactor, Author P , seems to transpose a different (Babylonian) account of 2 pairs of animals and 150 days of rain (Hays 91) Best explanation is that P and J has been harmonized over time, both full stories, then redaction by a later ... Genocides and mass atrocities continue to be an enormous challenge. To prevent such atrocities in the future, individuals must nurture peace and human rights now. Education about risk factors, warning signs, and triggering events that have contributed to genocide in the past is important so that all individuals can fight discrimination and hatred today. However, the groundwork for the Holocaust stretches back centuries. Anti Semitism was not a new concept in the mid 20th century; it was widespread in many countries prior. It dates back before the Middle Ages to ancient times, although Anti Semitism certainly was strengthened by the medieval Church. Christian beliefs as well as folk ideas of Jews as evil are now seen as distorted, but have nonetheless influenced people and politics today (Wood 24). Hundreds of occurrences and perceptions built up to the hatred of all Jews. A few include the Protocols of the Elders of Zion which was a conspiracy against Jewish leaders, the Dreyfus Affair which exposed anti Semitism in France, hundreds of pogroms (organized massacres) against Jews since the 17th century, malicious rumors, and many more acts of inequity (Wood 25). Lack of preparation is a huge contributor to academic dishonesty. Forgetting to study can cause those who would not usually cheat to stoop low and look at someone else s work. The Ethics Of A Practising Solicitor Essay The main argument introduced in the debate considers whether a practicing solicitor can adhere to the traditional values of moral and ethical integrity that have been reinforced through a set of principles such as the Solicitors Regulation Authority Code of Conduct (SRA). The latter consists of ten mandatory principles that are the professional requirements expected of any solicitor. Traditionally, ethical and moral truthfulness have formed the basis of a competent lawyer and thus when adhering to the traditional principles placed upon lawyers, a lawyer was thought to abide to moral standards. I will aim to tackle the debate by arguing that the SRA provides a framework that allows lawyers to be good people. Secondly, I will also be discussing a lawyer s moral responsibility. and that whilst The lawyer is conventionally seen as a professional devoted to his client s interest and...required, to do some things for that client which he would not do for himself his moral responsibility must not violate the SRA Code of conduct. At the time, Thailand had acquired a burden of foreign debt that made the country effectively bankrupt even before the collapse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Western importers sought cheaper manufacturers and found them, indeed, in China whose currency was depreciated relative to the dollar. Lessons for the developing countries from the Asian crisis: 1. In a globalized world, developing countries often face tremendous pressures coming from developed countries, international agencies, transnational and national companies to completely open up their economies. It is proven that liberalization can and has played a positive role development, however; the Asian crisis has shown up that in some circumstances, liberalization can play havoc, especially on small and dependent economies. This is more so prominent in the field of financial liberalization, where lifting of controls over capital flows can lead to such extreme results as a country accumulating a mountain of foreign debts within a few years, the sudden sharp depreciation of its currency, and a sudden rush of foreign owned and local owned funds out of the country in a few months. • 42. Motifs In Creation Myth What is a motif you may wonder? What do they consist of and how do they change the thoughts on how we were created? A motif is something that you see in one creation myth, that is found in many others. Motifs show us that certain pieces of different religions are the same, or could be connected completely. When the same motifis repeated over and over it can show us different connections and new information on more than one creation myth. I will be explaining three different motifs, our creator cares for their creations, the creator is invisible, and is the earth made of organic materials. I find it important how the gods/higher power, cares for their creations, because without them we wouldn t exist. In most creation myths, the creator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Cheyenne creation myth, the God Maheo creates the sky, the light, water, and animals before creating land. Maheo only had the power to create four things on his own, and turned to the help of his creations. One little coot was able to swim to the bottom of Maheo s lake and retrieve mud, so that the earth could be made. Once Maheo had the mud, he was able to make it grow and expand until he could no longer carry it. Grandmother turtle was able to carry the ball of mud and it grew more once placed onto her back. Maheo says that the Earth shall be known as Grandmother, and that her and all of her offspring would be slow; because they carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. Maheo felt that she shouldn t be lonely, so he pulled out his right rib and breathed on it. Moments later; the first man stood and walked, but Maheo still didn t want man lonely in the void that Earth would be, so he pulled out his left rib and breathed the first woman to be. He watched them grow, and build more tribes each year. He created animals for food, clothing, etc, and made sure that his children would have what they needed in order for survival. The myth says that Maheo cannot be seen, but that he is everywhere watching over us. That is one of the few creation myths where our creator leaves behind all of their creations. Like in the Theogony which is the greek creation myth, Prometheus created man after four failed attempts and then left his creations behind. Then he was ordered by Zeus to be tortured for making humans to god like. In the Norse creation myth, the Elder Eddas gave Odin permission to create humans, he did so first while being drunk and vowed to never drink again. Once sober, Odin re creates man and then protects, and watches over the deformed humans that he first created. Our creators leave us but for what reason? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
