Red Flags to Narcissistic Personality Disorder compiled by Jeni MawterJeni Mawter
Narcissistic Personality Disorder is insidious and toxic. It destroys relationships with partners, family, friends, work colleagues and members of the community.
This slide show identifies some of the red flags that signal a relationship with someone with a Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
It is an attempt to explain aberrant relationship behaviours that may be observed at home, with partners, at work, or in community groups.
When Narcissistic Abuse is Domestic Violence: "Why didn't you leave?" -Things...Jeni Mawter
Domestic abuse, or Domestic Violence, is a scourge world-wide. It destroys families, relationships and communities. Typically, the public is presented with physical abuse as the main parameter of Domestic Violence - blood and bruises - but there is another form of abuse that is hidden, leaves no physical scars but is even more decimating. This is Domestic Violence from prolonged Narcissistic Abuse. This is a personal story of the pernicious nature of Narcissistic Abuse which can, over time, lead to brain trauma or injury. A cautionary tale of our time.
Repression can be thought of as ‘motivated forgetting’:
The active but unconscious forgetting of
Unacceptable drives,
Emotions,
Ideas, or
Memories.
Repression is often confused with denial.
Denial relates to external stimuli,
Repression relates to internal, that is, mental, stimuli.
Nonetheless, denial and repression often work to gether and may be difficult to disentangle.
Moving of a person into a group results in a loss of individual identity and a gaining of the social identity of the group.
When two groups argue (and crowd problems are often between groups), it is like two people arguing. This loss of individual is called deindividuation.
Denial is probably the most basic of ego defences
Definition- It is the simple refusal to admit to certain unacceptable or unmanageable aspects of reality, even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Intergenerational trauma is the transmission of historical oppression and its negative consequences across generations. There is evidence of the impact of intergenerational trauma on the health and well-‐being and on the health and social disparities facing Indigenous peoples in Canada and other countries.

The Dark Triad of personalities is a group of three personality traits: narcissism, machiavellianism, and psychopathy. Typically not the sort of person you’d want to hang out with – so why are these traits not only present, but even common among humankind?
DEFENSE MECHANISM IS THE UNCONSCIOUS PSYCHOLOGICAL MECHANISM EMPLOYED BY US WHICH PREVENTS US FROM FALLING PREY TO INTOLERABLE ANXIETY, HOWEVER AT TIMES WE OFTEN PAY A HEAVY COST FOR USING IT IN PATHOLOGICAL WAYS.

Everyone has personality traits that
characterise them. These are the usual
ways that a person thinks and behaves,
which make each of us unique.
Personality traits become a personality
disorder when the pattern of thinking
and behaviour is extreme, inflexible
and maladaptive. They may cause
major disruption to a person’s life and
are usually associated with significant
distress to the self or others.
