Final year design project report - Studies in application of augmented realit...Mannu Amrit
This document summarizes a design project that studied the application of augmented reality (AR) in e-learning courses for chemistry. The project developed an AR android application using images from chemistry textbooks as markers to augment 3D content about solid state chemistry. An experiment compared the AR app to web-based learning and found that the AR app helped students' content learning and 3D spatial visualization more than web-based systems, and users had more positive behavioral intentions toward the AR system. The project validated AR's potential to improve learning of chemistry concepts requiring spatial skills over current e-learning methods.

CLIENT: SONIM TECHNOLOGIES
Sonim Technologies is the provider of the world's most rugged, water-submersible mobile phones designed specifically for workers in demanding and hazardous environments. Followings are the two application on which I have worked on.
1) DIRECT MESSAGING APPLICATION
DM module is a standalone accessory which will be connected to the mobile device on top Xpand connector. So in a dead zone, using this device and application user can send messages, audios, and location to other users.
2) SCOUT APPLICATION
Scout means to explore an area to obtain information. Similarly, SCOUT application assists all the applications of the phone and gives information about the phone. It’s a one-stop application for users to access the phone.
For above applications, we started by creating a sitemap of the application to convert it into low fidelity wireframes, high fidelity wireframes, and prototyping. Signage system at IIT Guwahati, Thesis ReportDeepak Kumar
Title: SIGNAGE SYSTEM for I I T Guwahati
Abstract: The project aimed at improving the current system of navigation and information in IITG by exploiting the built environment and architecture of the campus. The project also focused on the possibility of managing the campus from strategic positions.
Design Brief:
Aim: To attain an effective signage system that meets all the requirements of the university, including corporate identity, whilst not compromising usability, and remaining usable and effective.
Project Brief: The research was to find out the background to the signs’ conception and learn from the successes and failures of these direction finders.
• Analysis of the problems faced by the users.
• Critical Appraisal of the current system.
• Current market trends and area of application.
• Interpretation and exploration regarding all aspects of environmental design.

The main focus of the project was to develop the GUI (Graphical User Interface) through the system approach, making the interaction user friendly and less time consuming, for giving the guidance to the visitors. The basic concept is to guide the visitor to the destination, and that destination’s guiding factor need not be any place, rather it can be any person or any event or occasion.
Generally in wayfinding, people find it difficult to respond to the new environment and the other problem is language. The analysis starts with the listing of the difficulties and the problems. The system approach was followed and various information and data were collected. The information collected were tooled down to wire frame models and a multilingual interface was made.
Deliverable: Proposed for the signage system of IIT Guwahati.
• Directional sign board
• Map of the Campus
• You are Here maps
• Signboard for building identification
• Information desk
• Layout of the Letter pad
• Installation of the maps in the buses and the bus stops
• 3d scaled model of the campus
This document summarizes an engineering seminar on multidisciplinary engineering. The seminar discussed how engineering is becoming more multidisciplinary due to factors like globalization and more diverse workforces. It also discussed the faculty's approach to multidisciplinary engineering through its program educational objectives and outcomes, curriculum design, and examples of capstone design projects that integrate multiple disciplines. The benefits of multidisciplinary teams are that they allow for easier communication across disciplines and prevent projects from only being viewed from one perspective.
This document provides an overview of the Industrial Design program at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology). It discusses the history and founding of the program, current student and faculty demographics, recognition in design rankings and awards, academic activities, alumni careers, and key features of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The program takes an interdisciplinary approach to design education and emphasizes hands-on learning through projects, research, internships, and international experiences to cultivate designers that can drive innovation.

At the same time inventor, artist, technician and ergonomist, the designer is distinguished by a desire to improve his environment and to take a fresh look at the objects that surround him.
In France, the number of designers would amount to more than 33,000 professionals, for an estimated turnover of € 5.3 billion. For a long time considered as the final touch of a process, the design is today integrated at the earliest into the development of a product , as a factor of innovation and differentiation. In this context, the report "Design in Tech 2017" is without appeal: the future of business through design , including digital design. Investment in design continues to grow (€ 16.6bn in 2015) with double-digit growth in digital design.
