Derived from 2 Greek Words
Demos = People
Kratos = Power
Demos + Kratos = "Power of the
People"
-It is a system of government in
which the citizens have power to
choose their leaders through free
and fair elections
-A rule of law, in which the laws
and procedures apply equally to
all citizens.
There's an active participation of
the people as citizens, in politics
and civic life

The rule of people where the
Power in government does not
emanate from the divine right or
god but from the citizens of the
state
-Democracy was introduced in
the Philippines during the 19th
Century
-modeled on the U.S. system.
