Deforestation is a serious problem caused by human activities like development and wood collection. It results in the loss of 12 million hectares of forests annually, and could lead to the disappearance of all tropical moist forests by 2050. Deforestation has negative environmental and social impacts like reduced biodiversity, disrupted ecosystems and climates, and threatens human quality of life. While reforestation aims to help, it does not fully replace the original forests. The only way to avoid these consequences is to stop deforestation completely.
