2. CHOSEN SONG- 1234 BY FEIST
 The song that I have chosen to use in my coursework
is going to be ‘1234’ By the artist Feist, the video is a
Hybrid based. This is because the video is a mix of
conceptual and performance. The video is conceptual
as it is an interpretation and not the literal meaning of
the song, it creates a mood. I think that the video
is also performance based as Feist the singer
is performing through out the whole video. Although
the video is not set out in a traditional performance
based way (the band/artist on a stage with clips of
them preforming). This video has clips of them
performing, playing and singing all throughout the
video, everywhere but a stage.

3. REFERENCE TO LOOKING-
 In the video there were a few references to
looking most oblivious being at 1 minutes 55
seconds. This is when the dancers using
their bodies make a hole, which the camera
then looks through and begins to move
towards the end of the hole. As the camera is
a one end looks towards the other this gives
the audience the idea we are looking at the
other end of the tunnel.

4. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MUSIC AND VISUALS-
 During the course of the video there are clear
relationships between the music and the
visuals a few examples of this being when
the beat starts and Feist the singer is walking
towards the camera she is walking in time
with the beat. This is called on beat editing.
Other example would be when Feist sway
her shoulders as she does this the beat picks
up and speed and volume.

5. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN VISUAL AND LYRICS-
 Throughout this song there are loads of relationships
between the lyrics and music. One of these being
when the Feist sings ‘Cosy and cold’ this is
strengthens the relationship between lyrics and
visuals as the when this is sang the dancers are very
close to Feist and are keeping her cosy. Another
example could be when she sings ‘Sleepless long
nights’. This I think challenges the relationship as the
video seems like a dream. The lights in the back
ground and the fact she enters and leaves on her
own, yet is accompanied throughout the video with
dancers, adds to that fact this is a dream. So when
she sing sleepless night, the conflicts with the fact
she is in a dream.

6. DEMANDS OF THE RECORD LABEL-
 The demands have been clearly meet on this
video, as Feist walks in to the room all on her
own. This is really important as Feist is her
brand image, so having her on her own so she
can be recognised is important for the audience
and the record label. This gives her the full
attention of the audience; she is also the only
person in blue. This makes her stand out from
the crowd, yet she fits right in as blue is a colour
in the rainbow which is made up with all the
colours in the room.
