As I was researching other magazine, I saw that most of them use ‘strap lines’ either at the top of the page, or the bottom; some even use both. However, I decided to place mine at the top as it has a list of acoustic magazine artists, and starts I have followed the ‘golden line’ rule as I have created my masthead on the top right hand side of the page, therefore it is the first place my target audience will look. My image doesn’t overlap my masthead, as my magazine is new and won’t be recognised. I also included at the top right hand corner of my page, therefore it means people will read that, thus, attracting my audience. a music note in my masthead for the ‘d’ showing that my magazine connotes music. I created a stamp like feature with ‘No.1 Acoustic Magazine’ on my front cover as it filled in the blank space I had in that corner, but also it is a lure as this creates a sense that the magazine is amazing, as it has been named that, therefore, attracting my target audience to buy it. I placed a box behind the ‘Exclusive Interview’ and used a catchy font to show that this was the main part of this magazine. This also shows my variation of fonts to make my front cover eye catchy, thus, attracting my audience. I also included a quote with Taylor Swift, and used a handwriting font, adding a personal touch to my magazine. My image has been placed on the left hand side, as this allowed me to place my cover lines down the right hand side. The person in my image has eye contact with the audience, thus, engaging with them. She is in a posed position hoping the guitar as if she is playing it, showing the type of music this magazine is aimed at – acoustic. I used a big bold font for ‘PLUS’ to make it stand out, which also grabs the audiences attention as it allows them to see that not only does it have exclusive interviews etc. But also includes other topics such as, the 10 acoustic songs you need, but also a jokey article on the most embarrassing moments for celebrities, which shows that the magazine is for my target audience – younger people. I placed my barcode at the bottom right hand corner as I followed the ‘golden line’ rule as it is the last place the person looks. I also placed the price of £2.00 on there, as it is cheaper then most current magazines, so my target audience is able to afford it. I added a website address to my front cover to show that it is multi-platform, so if people are unable to buy the magazine, they can view some of the articles on the website, but also get details for competitions etc.
I followed the font and colour through into my contents page to show that they pages link, but also my house style which is pink, purple and red. The font also starts out, therefore informing the reader. As you can see, I included the purple box for both ‘One the cover’ and ‘Every month’ to show the pages are also linked with this, but I also added an effect to show they are on different topics rather than on Katie Budds’ exclusive interview. I also decided to carry on with the handwriting theme, as I thought it would give my page more of a personal touch. I included my music note from my masthead ‘Melody’ which shows my target audience the pages are linked. I also used other music notes around it so that is connotes music. I layered a few photos of the main cover star, Taylor Swift and Joe Brooks. I placed them at an angle to give it an edge, and to show it is a fun magazine. I included the handwriting font for the numbers showing which pages they are on, which also shows the pages are linked. It also shows the reader what they will be seeing within the magazine, making them want to read it. I added lures such as competitions to attract me audience, allowing them to win prizes. I also used Exclusive interviews with artists such as Taylor Swift, Joe Brooks and the new artist; Katie Budd. I included my editorial profile as it allows me to connect with my audience, giving it a more personal touch. I also included an image of me, that I find not too posing, as it is just me smiling, so my audience can connect with me. I placed an image of my front cover with ‘Issue #1’ showing that this is the first issue, but also that the magazine is linked with this contents page.
I included my masthead on the page, showing the pages are linked. I also included a lure saying ‘has the latest gossip from the newest acoustic singer, Katie!’ therefore, attracting my audience as they will want to find out the information about them. I decided to place a filmstrip of images across the top of the interview to show the pages are linked, but also shows the reader different images of the artist and what they are like. I think this was successful as it balances the page out, and also shows it is aimed at my target audience. I used a big ‘K’ to show the reader where the interview started as it grabs the readers, as it stands out – so, it attracts them to read it I used the same font as the front cover for the ‘Exclusive Interview’ showing that they are linked, and also made it stand out to make people want to read the page. I decided to do an interview for my DPS, as I thought it would be funny to write questions and answers to them. This also allows readers to see the real them from the questions and answers I wrote. I also followed the house style with the use of purple for the questions. I used the same handwriting font again to show that the pages are linked, but also adds a personal touch, as if she wrote it herself. This also creates a lure onto my page, as people will want to find out more about it. I used a photo where Katie is just sat on a swing laughing, as I thought was successful as it shows the reader that she is just a normal girl wanting to have a laugh. This also shows that music to her, is more of a passion rather than work she has to do, therefore she enjoys it, encouraging others to pursue their dreams if they want to be like this. I put ‘Katie Budd’ in a big catchy font, showing the reader who the article is about, but also catches the eye, making them want to read it. I used the same font as I had used on my front cover for ‘Exclusive Interview’ with Taylor Swift, as it stands out, and also shows the pages link together. I used the same hand writing font that I had used on the contents page, and front cover which shows that the pages are linked.
