This document summarizes the death audit findings for a department of general medicine in February 2022. It found a total of 31 deaths, with the majority (22) being male. The leading causes of death were the cardiovascular system with 13 deaths and viral pneumonia with 6 deaths. Most deaths (76.9%) from the cardiovascular system and over half of respiratory and viral pneumonia deaths occurred within 24 hours of admission. The majority of deaths were patients over 60 years old (76%) and had a hospital stay of less than one day (48%).
