Day-1
We reached Chennai airport around 9:00pm.
All of us were excited to go to Germany. We
checked in our luggage and got our boarding
passes and waited for an hour to get into the
flight. We got into our flight at sharp 1:05am
and had a safe travel for 10 hours . We reached
Frankfurt airport at 11:30am and rushed to
catch our connecting flight to Hannover. We
reached Hannover at 12:30pm. We had a warm
welcome by our host family and we went to
their home. After spending 2 hours at their
home, we all assembled back at the market
place where we had a city tour for 1hour.
Day-2
I went with my partner to WBG School where
we had an official welcome by their Principal
and teachers. We presented them a memento
on behalf of our School. Then we also had a
band called bloco loco who played us nice
music which we enjoyed so much. We then
attended two classes in WBG school. We went
around the campus for some time. We had our
lunch by 1:30pm. After that we went to the
market place to meet the mayor. She
welcomed us and said that she is very happy to
have Students from India on an exchange
program. We also met the local press people
who asked as few questions and took a picture
of the whole group. The mayor treated our
taste buds with a nice ice cream.
Day-3
We had two classes in the morning and project
work in the evening. The project was about
biodiversity. First we had group discussion
about biodiversity and then presented the
power point presentation which we created in
our school and later they also presented their
presentation. We all then discussed the
common factors. We were then assigned to
make a poster on biodiversity, in small groups,
only half of the poster was completed that day.
Day-4
We visited the national park of harz-
schwebebahn fahart. We were welcomed by
the guides who presented a power point
presentation about the National park. Then we
went in the rope car to the top of the
mountain and then hiked for 20km. We then
saw the lynx which is an endangered species of
Germany.
Day-5
We all gathered at Stadthagen railway stattion
at 8:40am. At sharp 9:00 we boarded the train
to Hannover to visit the zoo. It was a very big
zoo and we saw so many rare animals like
zebra without stripes and many types of birds.
We also went around the zoo in a boat. Then
we were all given a paper in which we had to
answer the questions about the animals and
the birds we saw, which was a part of the
project answered by the partners. We then
reached home by 5pm.
Day-6
We were given a free day to spend time with
the host family. We all students went to the
local amusement park named heide park and
went in all the rides.
Day-7
Again it was a free day with the family. I
attended a baptism of a baby with my host
family. Afternoon we all went to pool and then
bowling alley.
DAY-8
We had project work in the morning, where we
had three sessions to complete a poster. Then
we were all informed about building a bee
hotel on Thursday and a small discussion about
how to make it . After 25 minutes of break we
all walked to the railway station to visit the
Buckeburg castle. It was a beautiful place. The
guide explained us about everything in detail.
We learnt about the life style, history,
paintings and the architecture of the palace.
We reached Stadthagen at 4 pm.
Day-9
We all gathered in Stadthagen bus stand at
8:20am and got into a private bus and left to
the eco-protection station at Steinhuder meer .
It was interesting and informative to hear
about the steps taken to protect the eco-
systems. Then we visited the lake were we saw
the birds that are migrated and some animals .
We learnt about the plants around that place.
Day-10
We had a whole day excursion to Hamburg
where we took a boat tour around the whole
city.
Day-11
We had to build the bee hotel which was so
interesting. We then discussed about the
whole project. Afternoon we all saw a drama.
Day-12
We had a farewell party in the evening .We
Indian danced for our own Vande Matharam
song and gave speeches about the festivals of
India. All of us were dressed up in our
traditional costumes which everyone liked and
appreciated. We all then took photos with our
partners and host family.
Day-13
We had a free time on this day. So we girls
planned to have a girls day out in Bremen
where we went for shopping and some
historical places.
Day-14
We all left Stadthagen back to India carrying
with us lot of fond memories and everlasting
friendship that we acquired in Germany. We all
could not thank enough our School, Principal.
Sri.Ramani Sir and all teachers and other
agencies which helped us in undertaking this
exchange program which was a very big
success and a great learning experience for all
of us in our life.
