JEHOSHAPHAT
2 Chronicles 17:1-6
• Jehoshaphat King of Judah
• The LORD was with Jehoshaphat because
• He followed the ways of his father David
before him.
• He did not consult the Baals but sought the
God of his father and followed his commands
rather than the practices of Israel.
• His heart was devoted to the ways of the Lord;
• Furthermore, he removed the high places and
the Asherah poles from Judah.

defeats Moab and
Ammon
2 Chronicles:20:1-29
• Moabites, Ammonites and
Meunites came to make war
on Jehoshaphat.
• Alarmed Jehoshaphat
inquired of the LORD
• He proclaimed a fast for all
Judah.
• He encouraged his people to
trust God. Unitedly they all
fasted and prayed.
Jehoshaphat stood up in the
assembly
At the temple of the LORD and
prayed.
Points to
Ponder from
the the prayer
of
Jehoshaphat
1. The king praised God - He acknowledged God’s Sovereignty above
everything
2.He remembered the past miracles - He remembered God’s deliverance on
the Israelites
3.His prayer was sincere - He expressed his deep anxiety to God saying that
we will cry out to you if calamity (plague, famine or sword of judgement)
comes
4. He had strong faith
5. He was holding onto the promises
6. He accepted his weakness and focus entirely on God’s power.
7. He depended completely on God.
God spoke through prophet
Jahaziel to King Jehoshaphat
• Do not be afraid or discouraged because of
this vast army.
• For the battle is not yours but God’s.
• March down against them to the Desert
• You will not have to fight this battle
• Take up your positions
• Stand firm
• See the deliverance the LORD will give you.
• Do not be afraid; do not be
discouraged.(repeated)
• Go out to face them tomorrow.
• The LORD will be with you

• When the men of Judah came to the
desert, they saw only dead bodies
• They plundered a great amount of
equipment and clothing and articles of
value.
• They assembled in the Valley of
Beracah meaning “ Valley of Blessings”
• They returned joyfully to Jerusalem
• They entered the temple of the
LORD praising God for their VICTORY
• Now we are so discouraged as we
are under lock down.
• Let’s follow Jehoshaphat in declaring
that we are helpless and start praising
Him.
• Our hope is only on the Almighty
God.
