June 2008, I was laid off as a Digital Resources Coordinator. Six months shy of completing my Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree, I created a strategy that I utilized while in "Transition" that I am sharing in this presentation. I hope it helps my fellow Librarians, and anyone out of work. Good Luck guys:)

Managing Successful Business Process Transition
Selecting a service provider is just the start of the outsourcing journey. For
many multinational or global organizations, ensuring a successful transition to
the new service provider is a complex and difficult effort. This paper draws
from lessons learned across several global transitions covering multiple
business processes, such as finance and accounting, order management and
logistics distribution. The intent is to describe practices that worked well and
helped avoid the pitfalls. Although this paper is focused on business process
outsourcing (BPO), many of the lessons can readily be applied to information
technology (IT) outsourcing as well.

What kind of leadership is needed for ‘change’ initiatives? What are some of the challenges academic libraries face to plan and execute change?
Many academic libraries have been reasonably successful in adapting themselves to the fast changing digital world since the beginning of the Internet, but also since the beginning of increased accountability and declining budgets in higher education institutions in a number of countries, since the early 90s. They have gone through a great deal of change in the last twenty years or so. Some are continuing to change and adapt at greater rate than others. Some libraries introduce ‘change’ to their services, operations, initiatives much more than others. Technology and space renovations have been two of the most significant catalysts to facilitate change in many cases in addition to the financial and organisational directives of the parent organisation.
Agile management and change management are closely related. Libraries can benefit from applying agile management strategies to implement change leadership.
This paper uses Singapore Management University Library as a case study in implementing agile management and also present the results of a survey amongst academic library leaders in South East Asia regarding ‘change’ in their libraries as well as causes, effects and outcomes of change initiatives, projects, activities and future plans.

How can you uncover and understand your users’ needs and then create actionable insights? How can these insights enable a user-centered design for your spaces, the services you offer within them, and the way you organize your staff to provide those services? This session will answer these questions in four parts: first, we’ll make the case for user experience as the basis for an integrated design by covering key trends in the how learning and research. Next, we’ll review the mindset and skillset needed for user-centered design. Then, we’ll provide an overview of design tools; for example www.learningspacetoolkit.com. Finally, we’ll offer some tactical advice on how to apply these tools using case studies from BrightSpot's work such as the NC State Hunt Library. This session will provide engagement in each of these sections and highlight lessons learned that can be applied immediately to renew your spaces, services, and organization.

Lieve Leroy how can grasshoppers change ict practices

Change Leadership in South East Asian Academic Libraries
How do academic libraries approach, plan, implement, and evaluate change? What are the reasons and drivers for change? What kind of planning takes place to roll out change? What types of communication with stakeholders are undertaken regarding change? What is the role of mentoring and coaching in change process? What kind of leadership is needed for ‘change’ initiatives? What are some of the challenges academic libraries face to plan and execute change?
Many academic libraries have been reasonably successful in adapting themselves to the fast changing digital world since the beginning of the Internet, but also since the beginning of increased accountability and declining budgets in higher education institutions in a number of countries, since the early 90s. They have gone through a great deal of change in the last twenty years or so. Some are continuing to change and adapt at greater rate than others. Some libraries introduce ‘change’ to their services, operations, initiatives much more than others. Technology and space renovations have been two of the most significant catalysts to facilitate change in many cases in addition to the financial and organisational directives of the parent organisation.
Agile management and change management are closely related. Libraries can benefit from applying agile management strategies to implement change leadership.
This paper uses Singapore Management University Library as a case study in implementing agile management and also present the results of a survey amongst academic library leaders in South East Asia regarding ‘change’ in their libraries as well as causes, effects and outcomes of change initiatives, projects, activities and future plans.

This session will hone in on two issues: 1) The implications of adopting CSM and its potential for value-add to the career center; 2) Strategies for training and supporting staff in incorporating CSM to streamline daily tasks.
