The 2nd Annual Wounded Warrior Hiring and Support Conference was held on November 9-10, 2011 in Vienna, VA. The conference was sponsored by the Assistant Secretary of the Navy and hosted by the Commander of the Naval Sea Systems Command.

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is America's combat logistics support agency that provides integrated logistics solutions to the armed forces. As of September 2011, DLA employed 25,716 people total, including 9,087 veterans (35.3% of employees). DLA has effectively recruited veterans through programs like Operation Warfighter, detailing 59 veterans since 2008. DLA plans to continue increasing veteran hiring through programs with the VA and military, to support America's warfighters.

The foundation aims to support the Navy Safe Harbor program and provide resources not otherwise available from the government to help with recovery. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and relies on donations from individuals, corporations, and organizations.

A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.
