This document compares and contrasts the cellular structures and functions of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. It notes that all organisms are made of cells that fall into one of two categories - prokaryotes or eukaryotes. Prokaryotes are unicellular microorganisms that lack a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles, are always bacteria, and have simpler structures than eukaryotes. Eukaryotes have a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles that allow specialization of functions, can be unicellular or multicellular, and include organisms like plants, animals, fungi and protists.
