earth.
In both movie, human races were nearly extinct due to the environmental cataclysm. In After
Earth, humans were unable toadapt and live on earthcondition due to the nature phenomenadisaster.
Humanraces wasforced toabandon Earthand settle onanew planet,NovaPrime.Inthe Dawnof Planet,
Humans civilization has collapsed and destroyed because of the deadly worldwide pandemic, ALZ-113
virus. Over90% of humanpopulation diedunconsciously because of mankinddisaster.
In addition, humanraceswasendangered due tosome fatal factors. InAfterEarth, humanraces
mettheirpredators, Ursa, blindpredatory multi-limbedaliencreatures thathuntbysensingpheromones
of the humanbody sxecreteswhenscared. InordertooverbearUrsa, humanshadtocompletely suppress
their fear, to become invisible to the Ursa, a technique called "ghosting". However, only extraordinary
rangerscould achieve thisability. Indawnof planet, only fewamongof humanswere geneticallyimmune
to the virus and yet they still had to face the intelligent apes. The deadly virus doesn’t’t kill apes but
genetically enhanced theirintelligence evenspeakingability. Despitethe apes’leaderCeasarwaslooking
for peace, the othersweren't.
Both of the movie can be categorized as survival story. In After Earth, during space flight, their
shipwascaughtbyanasteroidshower, forcingthemtotransportthroughawormhole toasafe andcrash-
landonthe now-quarantinedEarth. Insidethe tornfuselageof the ship, only, Kitaiwhocypher’ssonhave
tofindthe way togoback theirplanetbyavoidbeingkilledbythe deadly animals (ursa) because Cypher’s
legwas broken. Indawnof planet, there’sascarred bonoboKoba, whoholdgrudges againsthumans for
hismistreatment. Caesarbringsalarge groupof the apes to the city where he conveys the message that
while the apes do not want war but they will fight to defend their home. He then demanded that the
humansstay intheirterritory andstatedtheapeswouldstayintheirstoo. Ceasarneededtofindasolution
that make peace between apesandhumans.
Both movies are surrounded withthe love of fatherandson. Kitai hadto findthe maindistress
signal beacon whichdamaged. CypherinstructedKitai tolocate the tail section of the ship, which had
brokenoff uponentry to the atmosphere, because there isanotherdistress beaconinside it, whichthey
