This document discusses some of the challenges of collaboration in cyberspace compared to the real world. It notes that real-world experiences do not always transfer well to the online world due to differences in how time and space are experienced. While technologies have allowed new forms of collaboration over the internet, there are still unresolved conceptual issues that make successful internet collaboration difficult and we have not fully mastered the challenges. Real-world analogies also tend to break down when directly applied to cyberspace.
