The document summarizes a biblical passage where five Amorite kings were discovered hiding in a cave after fleeing from Joshua and the Israelites. Joshua has large stones rolled in front of the cave entrance to guard the kings. He then instructs his men to continue pursuing the enemy armies. Later, Joshua has the five kings brought out of the cave and has the Israeli military leaders place their feet on the kings' necks as a sign of victory. Joshua then hangs the dead bodies of the five kings on trees until evening.
The Levite and his concubine stopped in Gibeah, a city of the Benjamite tribe, to spend the night. Some local men surrounded the house and demanded that the Levite be brought out so they could rape him. Instead, the homeowner offered his daughter and the Levite's concubine. The men raped the concubine throughout the night until dawn, when she crawled to the door of the house and died. The Levite cut her body into pieces and sent them throughout Israel to demonstrate the depravity that the tribes had sunk to.
1) David flees Jerusalem as his son Absalom stages a rebellion to take the throne. David trusts God will give him victory and return him to power.
2) As David's troops pass by, he stops his loyal bodyguard Ittai and insists he return home for his safety, though Ittai refuses to leave David.
3) David prays that God will turn the counsel of his advisor Ahithophel, who has betrayed him to join Absalom, into foolishness. He also sends Hushai to spy on Absalom and counter Ahithophel's advice.
Delilah nagged Samson daily to learn the secret of his great strength until he grew tired and told her it came from his uncut hair as a Nazirite dedicated to God. When Delilah saw that Samson had revealed everything to her, she informed the Philistine rulers, who returned with payment. While Samson slept in her lap, Delilah had his seven braids shaved off, causing his strength to leave him so the Philistines could subdue him.
The document discusses lessons that can be learned from 2 Samuel about King David's life. It describes how David grieved for King Saul, waited patiently to become king at age 30 and ruled for 40 years. It also discusses how David showed kindness to Mephibosheth, the grandson of Saul, and wept deeply when his son Absalom was killed. However, it also notes David disobeyed God by taking many wives and numbering his army, and committed adultery with Bathsheba. The document cautions that good times can tempt one to indulge desires at the cost of a holy life.
1) The passage describes the regulations for celebrating Passover, including that no uncircumcised males could partake and the meat had to be eaten inside the house.
2) It instructs parents to tell their children about how God brought the Israelites out of Egypt when they celebrate Passover each year.
3) God led the Israelites by a roundabout desert path rather than a shorter route, to protect them from war and prevent them from returning to Egypt out of fear.
The document contains 50 multiple choice questions about portions from 1 Samuel chapters 11-20 in the Bible. The questions cover various events and details such as how many days the elders of Jabesh asked Nahesh to agree to his condition, who said "what ails the people, that they are weeping", and what Saul spared when attacking the Amalekites.
Exodus 13 - 15. The journey into the wilderness for Israel began with powerful demonstrations to Jehovah's power and love for his people, yet the people still struggled with fear and unbelief. It’s important that we constantly see our salvation and remember the power and love of the one who delivers us.

This document provides commentary on a passage from 2 Samuel describing Absalom's rebellion against his father King David. It notes how Absalom gained followers by lying and pretending to help people, until he felt powerful enough to declare himself king. David fled from Jerusalem with his troops, though he trusted God would protect and deliver him, as expressed in his Psalms. The commentary encourages readers to remain faithful to God during times of trouble.
1. The document summarizes a passage from 2 Samuel describing King David's return to Jerusalem after fleeing from his son Absalom. It describes David forgiving Mephibosheth, who had not joined David during his exile.
2. It then discusses an elderly friend of David's named Barzillai who helped David while he was in exile. Barzillai declined David's invitation to join him in Jerusalem due to his old age.
3. Upon David's return, tensions arose between the tribes of Judah and Israel, with the men of Israel accusing the men of Judah of stealing David from them. The document urges resolving conflicts with kindness rather than harsh words.

The parable describes a man who gave his servants gold coins before leaving to become king in another land. Upon his return, he asked the servants what they had earned. The first servant earned 10 coins, giving an ROI of 900%. The second earned 5 coins, giving an ROI of 400%. The third servant hid the coin and earned nothing, giving an ROI of 0%. The man rewarded the productive servants and punished the unproductive one.

As we finish our study of King David, we will see the sin of the people and of David; we will see how Satan reacts, and how God deals with the whole mess, both in judgment and in mercy.
This document contains a summary of 1 Kings 22, which describes a battle between Ahab king of Israel and the king of Syria. Ahab consults with 400 prophets, who all prophesy victory. However, the prophet Micaiah prophesies that Ahab will be killed. Ahab goes into battle anyway after disguising himself. He is fatally wounded by a stray arrow, and his armies are defeated, fulfilling Micaiah's prophecy. The document emphasizes that God is in control of all things, including kings, battles, prophecies and stray arrows, and that people should put their trust in Him.
This document provides an overview and summary of passages from the book of Isaiah in the Bible. It discusses Isaiah's prophecies regarding Judah's alliance with Assyria, the promise that the house of David would continue forever through the virgin birth of a child, and God's judgment on the nations including Babylon. Key points include Isaiah prophesying the fall of Babylon over 100 years before it rose to power and correctly foreseeing the role of the Medes in Babylon's destruction, demonstrating his ability to see future events. The document examines Isaiah's dual fulfillment of prophecies concerning near-term historical events like the Babylonian captivity as well as longer-term future tribulations and restorations for Israel.
1. The kings of Israel, Judah, and Edom joined forces to attack Moab but ran out of water in the wilderness. They called upon the prophet Elisha for help.
2. Elisha told them God would fill the valley with water and also deliver the Moabites into their hands. They dug ditches as instructed and God provided water, though there was no wind or rain.
3. The next morning, the Moabites saw the water across from them as red as blood, assuming their enemies had killed each other. When they went to plunder the camp, the Israelite army defeated them soundly as God had promised.
1) Elisha prophesied that food prices in Samaria would return to normal by the next day, despite a famine.
2) Four leprous men at the gate of Samaria decided to seek food from the camp of the Syrian army besieging the city, finding it abandoned with food and supplies left behind.
3) The men informed the king of Israel about the empty Syrian camp, fulfilling Elisha's prophecy as the people of Samaria could now leave the city to gather supplies, returning food prices to normal. The lord who doubted Elisha's prophecy was trampled to death at the city gate as predicted.
What happened to the axe head (5-7)? Since verse 8 begins with the word “then” what is the connection between the inci-dent of the axe head and the events that follow? Why did the king of Syria want to capture Elisha (12-14)? Ex-plain the irony of Benhadad’s pursuit of Elisha. Why was Elisha’s servant afraid (15)? What did Elisha do in response to his servant’s fear (16)? Identify fears you or those close to you may have and apply Elisha’s example. What happened to the soldiers sent to capture Elisha (18-23)? Why do you suppose Elisha did not destroy the Syrian army? Since there was no battle between God’s armies and the Ara-means, what is the purpose in the account of the “chariots of fire” on the mountain? Why doesn’t God answer our prayers instantly and dramatically, as He did Elisha’s prayers? Explain what “spiritual warfare” means to you (cf. Eph. 6:12-17). What responsibilities do the angels of God have in this warfare? How are they involved in your life? Why did Benhadad besiege Samaria after his army was spared and treated so kindly (25)?
The angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and called him a mighty warrior, though Gideon protested that God had abandoned them to the Midianites. God instructed Gideon to tear down his father's altar to Baal and build a new altar to God. That night, Gideon did so in secret, fearing retaliation from his townspeople who still worshipped Baal. God reassured Gideon that he would save Israel from the Midianites with Gideon's help.
The Philistines captured the Ark of God from Israel and brought it to several of their cities, including Ashdod, Gath, and Ekron. However, in each city the god Dagon was destroyed and the people were afflicted with tumors. Recognizing this as the judgment of God, the Philistines decided to return the Ark to Israel rather than have it bring further destruction to their people.
Who is this "Commander of the army of the LORD"? Do you think he is an angel or the Lord himself? (5:14) Explain. Why does it matter? When Joshua asks the Commander whether He is "for us or for our enemies," why does the Commander answer "neither"? What does He mean? (5:13-14) What is the significance of the ark in the procession around the city of Jericho? (6:8-9) (HINT: See Psalm 99:1) The theme of the Battle of Jericho seems to be Joshua 1:9. Can you share a time when you found the Commander of the Army of the Lord has been with you in a time of trouble? What is your Jericho, the place “the enemy” (Satan) has a stronghold in your life? Where do you think our Jericho is in your community or church? How can we by faith “tear down these walls”?

1) Brother Doyle Ratterlee will preach at the Rossville Church from August 8-10.
2) In 1 Samuel 19, Jonathan convinces Saul to spare David from his irrational hatred.
3) David escapes from Saul with the help of his wife Michal, who lies to protect him, allowing David to flee to Samuel at Ramah for protection under God's Spirit.
The Lord instructed Moses to send spies, one from each Israelite tribe, to explore the land of Canaan that God had promised to give them. The spies surveyed the land and people for 40 days. Upon their return, they reported that the land was indeed fertile and prosperous, "flowing with milk and honey." However, they exaggerated the strength of the people living there, saying they were like giants and the cities were heavily fortified. All the spies except Caleb and Joshua said the Israelites could not be victorious in taking the land. This negative report discouraged the people and weakened their faith in God's promise.

Absalom conspires against his father King David and declares himself king in Hebron. Absalom sends secret messengers throughout Israel announcing this. David flees from Jerusalem with his household out of fear that Absalom will overtake the city. Zadok the priest carries the ark of God back to Jerusalem at David's command while David goes to the Mount of Olives weeping. David trusts that if God is pleased with him, he will allow David to return, but if not, David accepts whatever God decides.
This document provides a summary of 2 Samuel 14-17, which describes conflict between David and his son Absalom. It discusses how Joab convinces David to allow Absalom to return to Jerusalem from exile. Absalom gains popularity and steals the hearts of the people. He stages a coup against David, who flees from Jerusalem with his household. The document examines lessons about discerning the real enemy in conflicts and that the primary struggle is against spiritual forces, not flesh and blood.
1. The document appears to be a summary of passages from the Bible describing events after King David's son Absalom rebelled against him.
2. Ahimaaz wanted to be the one to tell King David that the rebellion was over and Absalom was dead, but Joab was concerned about how David would react to the news.
3. When Cushi told David that Absalom was dead, David was overcome with grief, even though Absalom had opposed both David and God's will. The document suggests David should have thanked God for defeating the rebellion instead.
The document appears to be a collection of slides from various presentations or sermons on the topic of forgiveness. It includes summaries and excerpts from passages in the books of Matthew and 2 Samuel dealing with forgiveness and unforgiveness. One presentation focuses on the story of King David forgiving Shimei for cursing him, but having Shimei put to death later for leaving Jerusalem in violation of Solomon's conditions. The document emphasizes the importance and challenge of truly forgiving others from the heart.
This document provides a summary of 2 Samuel 14-17 from the Bible and discusses a sermon given on July 22, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi. The summary discusses how Absalom conspires against his father David to become king, with the help of Joab and others. It examines lessons about discerning the real enemy in conflicts and how Absalom's actions fulfilled a prior prophecy against David.
1) The document is about King David returning to Jerusalem as king after Absalom's failed revolution. As David crosses the Jordan River, Shimei, who had previously cursed David, falls down before him and repents.
2) Abishai believes Shimei should be put to death for cursing the king, but David refuses, not wanting bloodshed on a day of celebration.
3) The document discusses how true repentance requires a turning from sin to righteousness, not just words of apology. It warns that without genuine transformation, those who profess faith are not truly saved.
The document discusses the biblical story of David forgiving Shimei for cursing him. It notes that while David said he forgave Shimei, he never truly did so and instructed Solomon before his death to have Shimei killed. The document argues true forgiveness can only come from understanding God's forgiveness on the cross, and encourages taking time to forgive others fully rather than holding grudges.
The document provides a summary of 2 Samuel 18-19, which describes events following Absalom's rebellion against his father David. It discusses how Absalom is killed in battle by Joab, against David's wishes to spare him. David deeply mourns Absalom's death, upsetting his troops. The document outlines David's return to Jerusalem and his forgiveness of those who betrayed him, including Shimei and Mephibosheth. It also discusses the biblical concept of forgiveness in depth, defining what forgiveness is and is not.
God remembered Abraham's intercession for Sodom and Gomorrah and saved Lot from destruction. The document discusses how God remembers and blesses intercessors like Abraham who stand before God on behalf of others. It encourages intercession, stating that praying for people leads to a quiet life and is pleasing to God, and that God remembers intercessors to save others and bless the intercessors themselves.
This document contains a sermon given at Gospel Baptist Tabernacle. It discusses King Benhadad of Syria attacking Israel but being defeated due to God's power. Against the advice of his servants, Ahab spares Benhadad's life and makes a covenant with him. The sermon warns that Ahab and Israel will pay a heavy price for sparing God's enemy, as God had appointed Benhadad to destruction.
This document contains a summary of 1 Kings 20, which describes a battle between Ahab, king of Israel, and Benhadad, king of Syria. Benhadad had demanded that Ahab surrender everything to him, but Ahab refused after consulting his advisors. God then told a prophet that he would deliver the large Syrian army into Israel's hands. Against all expectations, the small Israelite force led by young men attacked and routed the drunk and unprepared Syrian army under Benhadad at noon. The prophet then warned Ahab to strengthen himself, as Benhadad would return to attack again the following year.
The document discusses Jesus healing various people in need. It begins with two Bible verses noting God saves those with contrite and broken hearts. It then describes Jesus healing a woman with a long-term illness by touching his garment, bringing a dead girl back to life, healing two blind men who called out to him as the Son of David, and casting out a demon from a mute man, much to the amazement of onlookers and scorn of some Pharisees.
1) King Solomon has become king after the death of King David. Adonijah, who wanted to be king, asks Bathsheba to request that Solomon give him Abishag as his wife.
2) Bathsheba makes the request to Solomon on Adonijah's behalf, not realizing it is part of a plot by Adonijah to become king. Solomon sees through the deception and has Adonijah executed for his conspiracy against the throne.
3) Solomon also exiles the priest Abiathar for supporting Adonijah's claim, though spares his life due to his past service, fulfilling a prophecy against the house of Eli for their unfaithfulness.

David mourns the death of his rebellious son Absalom, upsetting his troops. Joab rebukes David for prioritizing his grief over the victory. David returns to Jerusalem and restores order, forgiving those who betrayed him like Shimei and Mephibosheth. The lesson discusses that forgiveness is not approval, excusing, or justifying wrong actions, but rather releasing others from debt and the right to retaliate for harming you.
King Solomon loved many foreign women and held fast to them, taking 700 wives and 300 concubines. His wives turned Solomon's heart away from the Lord. God was angry with Solomon and said He would tear the kingdom from Solomon's son because Solomon did not keep God's commandments. However, God promised that He would not do it in Solomon's days, but would give one tribe to Solomon's son for the sake of His servant David.

Learning from the failings of a king saul - billericay 110320Paul Fuller
Saul disobeyed God's command to utterly destroy the Amalekites, sparing King Agag and the best livestock. When confronted by Samuel, Saul made excuses but was rebuked for prioritizing sacrifice over obedience. God's spirit departed from Saul, and an evil spirit troubled him. Saul grew increasingly jealous of David's success and tried multiple times to kill him. In his despair, Saul consulted a medium to contact Samuel's spirit, where he was rebuked again for disobeying God. Saul acknowledged his sin and errors before dying in battle against the Philistines.

Jesus has been called the "Great Physician." We think of His miracles of healing. But those miracles of healing our physical bodies point to a far greater miracle--the healing of our heart and soul. He doesn't just mean physical life and death. He points to something greater--spiritual life and death, both in this world and the next.

We can spend a lifetime looking for that which will fill our souls. We can look far and wide, with people, with events, with experiences, with acquisitions, and with just about anything else you of which comes to mind. But we will never touch the deepest parts of our soul until we find what Jesus called "living water." We will experience more of that living water as we become dispensers of living water, just like the woman we'll study this week!

We so often hear the story of Mary this time of year, but it’s just as easy to gloss over the extreme cost it would have been to a young girl, to find herself graced with this ‘favor’ from God. What did it cost her in terms of her life’s plans? What did it cost her socially, with her family, with friends and neighbors? What does radical obedience cost us?

The document discusses Jesus as the coming king who will reign eternally based on passages from the Bible. It describes Jesus' birth being foretold and the Magi coming to worship the newborn king. While Jesus' kingdom is not of this world, it refers to God's rule over people's hearts and will continue to grow until the end of time. Jesus is the king of kings and ruler of everything who will welcome his followers into the kingdom of glory in heaven.

Beneath people's veneer are hidden questions. "Do I matter? Do I matter to anyone? Does someone really care about me?" People hunger and thirst for real "life," that sense of satisfaction that comes from being deeply connected with God and others. That is what Christ offers us, and He offers this real "life" through us to others! What we all want to know, is how does this happen?
The document discusses issues people have with the Bible and argues for its authority and trustworthiness. It notes that Jesus viewed the Bible as a story that reaches its climax in his life, and that he considered it trustworthy and authoritative. The document argues that Jesus is the ultimate authority, but that he mediates his authority through scripture, so obeying the Bible means obeying Jesus.
Jeremiah lamented over his people, weeping for their unfaithfulness and the destruction that would come. Gender our biblical worldview part 7 seth g october 18 2020Pacific Church
In our day there is growing confusion about gender. There is a secular movement of thinking that seeks to minimize or obliterate any differences between genders. In this secular way of thinking, gender is something that one feels or identifies as. This is like leaving a great sailing ship on the high seas without sails and a rudder. It will be carried along wherever the current wishes, adrift on the open seas. The unintended consequences of this thinking is to create greater confusion for young people who already struggle with their gender and confusing feelings of their identity, but there is a wondrous design to complementary gender that seeks to build intimacy in a marriage, deeper relationships with people, and reflects the wonder of our Trinitarian God.

What does the bible say about marriage? Up until 15-20 years ago this was not a "controversial" topic. Everyone knew the answer. Our secular culture continues to send its tsunami waves at our Judeo-Christian heritage, causing great confusion. How are we to think about same-sex marriage? What does the bible say? Before we address those questions we will spend time reviewing what makes a marriage a biblical marriage.
As we continue our conversation on a Christian worldview, specifically as it deals with thinking through this upcoming election we are diving deeper and deeper into different issues. This week we are looking at the sanctity of life. What it means to be made in the image of God, to have value, and to be worthy of life, no matter what stage of life you are in.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.
